How's everybody doing today? I am Mike Roger is not here today. You know what? I can't improv something that he's doing.
Speaker 2:He's bootlegging gin right now across the Canadian border. He's taking it back to the motherland. Oh, that's right.
Speaker 6:Well, he kind of blew the whole operation then there.
Speaker 2:You know he gets confused sometimes and he took a left turn at Albuquerque and he ended up in Calgary.
Speaker 6:He's got a whole Smokey and the Bandit situation going.
Speaker 2:He's bounding down.
Speaker 6:There we go. Alright, that's an old movie.
Speaker 2:Look it up, we've already lost everybody, damn it up. We've already lost everybody, damn it, we've already lost?
Speaker 6:yeah, all right. Well, hello everybody. So roger's not here I am. Mike with me, as always, is mr phil that's me and we're going to introduce some new crew members to the gamer heads family. But before we get into that, let's go ahead and give a big welcome to our Patreons, phil.
Speaker 2:Thank you to our Patreons, Jill, Matt and Sarah, for the support of the GamerHeads Podcast and GamerHeadsPodcastcom. You too, fellow listener, can be a member of our Patreon family by going to Patreoncom backslash GamerHeads and signing up for as little as $3 a month.
Speaker 6:And then we use that money. That's all I got, man. Well, we use that money for things. Yeah, to put new tires in Roger's car from bootlegging all the gin, that's true, that's true.
Speaker 2:And tricks and pain for hips.
Speaker 6:And pain for hips? Yes, that too, oh, my goodness. All right, so let's see us. Thank you, patreon members, and if you wish to donate to the GamerHeads family what was that again, phil Patreoncom backslash.
Speaker 2:Backslash GamerHeadsPod, I don't know. I made the entire thing up. If you go there and it's not there, just go to Patreon and search GamerHeadsPodcast, you'll find it. Give us money, dammit.
Speaker 6:We're like PBS, but nicer and we also ask that you visit our website. And, phil, what's the name of the website that they can go to?
Speaker 2:The name of that website is I accidentally swallowed a beer down the wrong throat to start with. Gamerheadspodcastcom. You can get reviews, read news articles, interviews. You can buy stuff. There's interviews. There might even still be links to other podcasts.
Speaker 6:Roger is selling a 12-month calendar of himself.
Speaker 4:Really.
Speaker 6:Yeah, all these different pinups of. Roger with different game systems.
Speaker 2:Damn it. I was hoping he was in big floral sundresses.
Speaker 6:Well, that's June. You just spoiled the June one.
Speaker 2:Can I buy 12 months of June?
Speaker 6:Yes, We'll see what we can do. Maybe if you're a Patreon supporter we can get that to you.
Speaker 2:That's a $10 tier.
Speaker 6:All right. So you see, everybody, this is how the show goes. It's just total chaos and it's stupid and we all make idiots of ourselves. All right, so we're going to actually welcome our new crew members that are here. We'll start, trina. You've been on the show before, so why don't you go ahead and introduce yourself again and just let us know what are some of your favorite games and or video game genres?
Speaker 7:Yeah, so my name is Trina and I've been here before, of course, and Roger's not here, so I can't make fun of him, but I'll try my best to throw a little sass the other way. Um, I have been playing a lot of, uh, the very small indie games lately and, um, one of them is Symphonia that just came out today and another game that, uh, I have sunk way too many hours in for no good reason. Uh, lost but found um outside of indie games. I really like playing destiny. I really like playing final fantasy 14. Um, so a lot of games on my plate, but still gaming.
Speaker 6:Awesome, all right, thank you, and welcome Tria.
Speaker 2:when we get to games you're playing, I'm going to ask you about Symphonia. I'm intrigued by that game.
Speaker 7:Yeah, of course Cool.
Speaker 6:All right. So next up, zeb, we'll let you take the floor. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Speaker 3:Zeb. I've reviewed a couple games so far for gamer heads, like uh, baby blues, nightmare and pinball spire, and I love video games. Favorites genres have to be like shooters and adventure basic. Basically, genre is story. If it has a good story, I don't care what kind of gameplay it is, I'm going to want to play it.
Speaker 2:What would you say? Your favorite shooter is?
Speaker 3:Cyberpunk. Okay, that's a long one. How many?
Speaker 6:hours did you put into that one? Because that's got three different stories right. You could be three different backgrounds.
Speaker 3:I've done three playthroughs of that game so far.
Speaker 7:I was going to say what are you going?
Speaker 3:to do in your next playthrough. I really want to do a fourth one, because I always pick a main weapon of choice to keep throughout the whole playthrough. So I just want to keep doing it over and over again.
Speaker 6:Nice.
Speaker 2:There's nothing wrong with that. That means it's a good game. If you want to keep doing it over and over again, nice, there's nothing wrong with that. That means it's a good game if you want to run through it that many times I mean the music just captures me. So yeah, that's great what have you played it on? Um well, xbox, playstation and pc actually yeah is the pc the best running one so far?
Speaker 3:oh yeah, yeah, playstation xbox comparable at this point I see it's not a fair comparison because I have a xbox series s so it's not as powerful as like the x would be, because I would feel like the X should be compared to the PS5 but the S is like a lower budget so it can't compare, I think. But I mean it ran fine. That was the first way I played. It was on Xbox and back when everyone said it was glitchy and I didn't have a problem.
Speaker 2:Nice.
Speaker 6:Well, welcome aboard Zen and Jake, you are next.
Speaker 5:Tell, tell us a little about yourself, buddy. Uh, hi, um, I'm jake, so, uh, I haven't actually reviewed anything for gamer heads yet, um, but hopefully you see me keep an eye out for that. Um, for games, um, kind of all over the place, I really like rpg games. Um, any sort of like fantasy I'm super into, but then I also am really into like more farm building games as well, like stardew valley and um palia and stuff like that as well. But, um, I'm also huge into like dark souls games, like those really difficult games. So I've been doing a lot of that. So, yeah.
Speaker 6:Nice Do you prefer for your RPGs? Do you prefer turn-based or action Action?
Speaker 4:Action Good answer.
Speaker 5:Yeah, I do like turn-based Like I've been a huge Pokemon fan for a super long time and that's kind of like the root, kind of like the the root turn base. You could say um, so, but yeah, uh, even like the new um final fantasy 7 game, it, it being kind of more action based than the turn based, would really interested me.
Speaker 2:So yeah, cool, awesome well once again welcome to the go ahead phil what do you typically play on when you game? Sorry, what do you typically play on like? What is your console or pc of choice?
Speaker 5:oh god, um of choice, oh god, um pc um. I also have a steam deck that is really good for kind of like more um, like turn-based or like farming sims, you know, like anything that's not. You can throw on a tv show and just kind of play on the on the steam deck is really fun. But I also have a PlayStation 5 and a Switch. Okay.
Speaker 2:Nice. Main reason I asked is because there was a new farming simulator type of game that just dropped on the Xbox on Game Pass. I don't remember what it's called off the top of my head, but I was curious if you would check that out and your thoughts on it.
Speaker 5:Yeah, I don't know. Is it that over-the-ground? Yeah, I don't know. Is it that Overthrown? Yeah, it's called something like.
Speaker 2:Overthrown or some shit like that.
Speaker 5:Yeah, okay, now I'll have to see Okay.
Speaker 6:I thought I read that. Who is it? Playtonic? The developers who made Yooka-Laylee. They're working on a farming sim game no kidding really yeah, I think I mean I might be wrong, and that's why we need roger here to fact check me, because I could just make stuff up. Yeah sure, why not? Yeah yeah, sega's coming back into the hardware, so yeah, yeah, dreamcast too. So, um, but that looks pretty interesting too. Uh, all right, be like too what was that, jake?
Speaker 5:I was just going to say. I wonder if it would be like a Banjo Kazooie farming that'd be some shit.
Speaker 2:I think it's like a pixel graphic type game do you get into games like Civilization and SimCity as well, or do you just enjoy the farming aspect of things, where it's just the mindless build, not mindless, but the building out of like a, a plot and or a house and type of running that shit?
Speaker 5:yeah, I had a a fair bit of time in civ I've. I played a, I played a lot of civ 5 when that was out, um, and then I did play a fair bit of Cities Skyline opposed to like the SimCity and stuff like that. But yeah, those are two really really cool games. Heck of a lot of DLC for them too. Oh yeah, yeah, cool.
Speaker 6:All right, well, yeah Well, welcome aboard. We hope to see more of you on the show, as we do additional episodes every week. And where can I'm sorry, phil, where can somebody get the GamerHeads Podcast from?
Speaker 2:Oh, you can get it from GamerHeadsPodcastcom. Oh, that's right. You can also get it wherever you find any of your audio medium places, such as Spotify, itunes, apple Music, which is the exact same thing as iTunes and probably no longer exists. Apple Music, which is the exact same thing as iTunes and probably no longer exists. You can even say to your smart device, like in Alexa hey, alexa, play the new episode of GamerHeads Podcast. I don't know if it works or not, but I'm going to tell you, listener, that it does.
Speaker 6:It's worked, I've done it.
Speaker 2:No shit.
Speaker 6:Yeah, seriously did. Yeah. She replied like are you really sure you want to listen to this? I really sure you want to listen to this, because it's not.
Speaker 2:I'd be like don't tell me what to do, just play the damn show. Are you sure you want the newest episode, don't you want? Like the one from five episodes ago where it wasn't that bad? Alright?
Speaker 6:and then, before we get into everything, we got one more bit of business to go over, and that is I'll tell you what. I had an argument with my family because, like I said earlier, I'm from the Chicagoland area. If you're from Chicago, there's one thing we pride ourselves on, and that's violence in our city and pizza.
Speaker 6:So the argument I had with my wife was I want real pizza tonight and she wanted Papa John's pizza. So the argument I had with my wife was I want real pizza tonight and she wanted Papa John's pizza. That's not real pizza and that's not real pizza. But it became real pizza when I added one extra ingredient to it and that is Seven Bridges Yum Yum Sauce. An official sponsor of the Gamer Heads podcast. An official sponsor of the GamerHeads podcast. You can get Seven Bridges Yum Yum Sauce on Amazon. Still right, right, phil.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's still on Amazon for now it's. Also if you're in the Minneapolis Twin Cities area, it is in a bunch of the local grocery stores, as well as a handful of meat markets and fish markets. Places like Kowalski's are carrying it now. So is Damn it. No one brought a blank on the name of the other one. Ah damn, there's another local grocery store that's also carrying it. We also have it in a couple of the Sheil's around here as well, which is mainly known as a sporting goods store, but they do have a food supply section, and I still have three bottles for each, you and Roger that I need to send out to you, but I am anti-post office.
Speaker 6:You're the Pony Express. Get it that way. Go old school.
Speaker 7:I was going to say it's been like what two months since I've been Trina have.
Speaker 1:I already told you to watch your damn mouth or no, this is great Trina.
Speaker 6:no, keep up the sass. I love it. Just don't direct it at me. Keep it going over there. You're over here. Trina's right there. He's over there for me Listeners.
Speaker 2:I wish you could see all the finger action we had going right now. We're all pointing in the direction of where Mike is, and it turns out he's not at the same spot for any of us.
Speaker 6:I'm in the top left corner on my screen.
Speaker 3:I don't know, if that's correct, the reflection.
Speaker 7:That's where you are for me top left.
Speaker 3:Yeah, you're in my top left as well.
Speaker 6:Yeah, you're in my top left as well?
Speaker 3:Oh, all right. Well then I'll stay here.
Speaker 4:Stop pointing at me Trina's right here.
Speaker 6:But anyways, yeah, seven Bridges, yum, yum Softs. It takes terrible pizza and makes it edible. That should be the slogan. If you're a big fan of Papa John's pizza here's the thing If you're a big fan of Papa John's pizza, you don't have to take offense to it. Their breadsticks are good and they have these cinnamon pull-aparts that are awesome.
Speaker 2:And the garlic butter is decent as well.
Speaker 6:The garlic butter is pretty good, yeah, but it's better when you add Seven Bridges Yum Yum Sauce. Available now at your fine retailers in the Minneapolis area.
Speaker 4:And Amazon.
Speaker 6:All right, maybe even directly off the website too. I think Minneapolis area and Amazon Alright.
Speaker 2:Maybe even directly off the website too, I think.
Speaker 6:What might that website be?
Speaker 2:HelloFinocom.
Speaker 6:Probably SevenBridgesSaucescom is my guess. Alright. Well, let's jump into games that we're playing. I'll tell you what Zeb do you want to go first? Have you played any games lately?
Speaker 3:Oh yeah, sure. Right now I'm playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth to try to finish at least one of the nominees for Game of the Year besides just Astro Bot, and I'm also playing 1000 Resist, 1000x Resist. I don't know.
Speaker 2:Dude, that game's fucking weird I'm like three.
Speaker 3:I'm on chapter four right now and that's the game I'm kind of see where it's going but yeah, it's an odd one, but everyone's been talking about it so I had to see it, and it's also nominated in the indie game of the year show, so it's like kind of hitting well, two birds with two stones, I guess. But playing two games that are both going to be in a Game of the Year kind of aspect, nice, and I've been enjoying both.
Speaker 6:Good Now have you played Astro Bot? Let me ask you a question In your honest opinion, is it a killer exclusive? What I mean by that is is that one game worth buying a PS5 over? And the reason I bring this up is because I have some trading credit and I have some gift cards and the PS5 is on sale and I can get it at a good price. Don't steer him wrong.
Speaker 1:Don't look at me like that.
Speaker 6:Phil, don't worry, I still love my Switch.
Speaker 2:I'm not mad. What I was looking at? 1000x Resist. I was curious if it's the game that I played or not. It is that game's weird as shit.
Speaker 6:So I already have a Switch and a Series X Right and I go back and forth of whether or not I should get a PS5. And I'm excited about Astro Bot. I'm not a big Final Fantasy person, sorry, but I like Silent Hill and I like Astro Bot. That looks pretty fun. So I'm just wondering if, in your opinion and anybody else who played it, feel free to chime in is a PS5, like you could say and again I'm going to age myself here the Nintendo 64 was worth it for Mario 64 alone or for Goldeneye alone to me? You know those exclusive games. So would you say the PS5 is worth the purchase price solely for astrobot hmm, I are you, if you're a huge fan of platformers I love platformers, love them and no, like old playstation history, like ps1, ps2 era, I think.
Speaker 3:Then it's so like I smiled, though I couldn't not smile the entire time I played it, and with the PS5 controller it was pretty awesome. I don't know if it's worth because it's a short game, so I don't know if it's worth getting a PS5 exclusively for that. But if you want Silent Hill 2 or any other PS5 exclusive, because there are tons still- no, there's not.
Speaker 2:You're lying to us, zeb, you're as bad as Trina there's still more exclusives than the Xbox.
Speaker 5:I also am going to throw in that Ghost of Yotai comes out next year, fair, and I am very, very excited for that.
Speaker 4:And.
Speaker 5:I would buy a PlayStation 5 for that game alone.
Speaker 6:All right.
Speaker 2:Zeb. In all fairness, I'm a huge Xbox fan and I'm not anti-PlayStation by any means. I just don't have a PlayStation 5, and I do everything that I can to talk myself out of wanting and or needing one that's what I was, so I so I have to poo-poo on people that are all pro playstation, and it's mainly because I don't want to spend the 500 on playing the three games that I can't play on the xbox right, and I mean, if you wait a year it'll come to pc anyway.
Speaker 3:Yeah, that doesn't do. I just don't want to wait yeah I don't want to wait, oh yeah, if you don't have a pc then get.
Speaker 5:Get both also the I don't know, does the controller work on pc as well?
Speaker 3:the ps5 controller yeah, like does it have yeah yeah, there's some games that apparently I need to like actually verify this for sure but I've heard that, yeah, there are some games that have come out on steam that, if you use the ps5 controller, give you the same haptic feedback as if you were playing on the ps5 console. So in theory they could release Astro Bot on Steam and give you the controller. Maybe a bundle would be perfect Controller and the game, so then you could play it, because you really need the controller to play it.
Speaker 4:Okay, alright.
Speaker 6:You know, Phil, it's $400 now at GameStop.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but that means I gotta go to GameStop.
Speaker 6:I know we we went on anti-GameStop rants a few months ago.
Speaker 5:You don't want to get the PlayStation 5 Pro. No, don't start 700 bucks no please start.
Speaker 2:Start the debate.
Speaker 3:I don't think there would be a debate.
Speaker 5:There is Idiotic.
Speaker 6:Alright, so, zeb, you plan anything else? I don't think there would be a debate.
Speaker 3:There is Idiotic All right, so Zeb you playing anything?
Speaker 6:else.
Speaker 3:Usually my go-to's are Destiny 2 and Final Fantasy XIV which I'm pretty sure Jake's going to say the same and Dreamland. But yeah, those are my main two games that I go back to.
Speaker 2:Do you three all play clan up in Destiny? Is that how you guys all know each other? That is dope. Have you guys met in real life?
Speaker 4:I've met.
Speaker 3:Trina and I have.
Speaker 2:I haven't met Jake yet he's Canadian, I wasn't going to point out the fact that I detected the small Canadian accent. That is so cool that three of you guys I wasn't going to point out the fact that I detected the small Canadian accent. That is so cool that the three of you guys know each other from Destiny. Some of my best friends I know from playing Overwatch and I think it's fantastic that the gaming community actually brings people together on this type of a level where you have entire text threads. And I've met those two guys in real life. I hang out with them at least once a year. I go and visit them or they come and visit here.
Speaker 6:It's awesome that's so cool. Nice job. Sorry, I'm stoked. Yeah, it's been cool, that's awesome.
Speaker 5:Well, jake, how about you? What have you been playing? Oh god, um. Okay, so I got back into enshrouded Um. I I picked up that game I think in March, um, I think, um, and I played like a good amount of hours into it and kind of got to a point where they it's an early access game. So I I kind of got to that point where I had everything and I was, I was like content with it. Um, so I haven't picked it up in a couple months and they, they just added like a new, new biome and like brand new you can like have, uh, like livestock and pets and everything. They've added so much stuff. So I've been really enjoying that game. It's so much fun and it really itches my RPG as well as kind of my building sim type of game.
Speaker 5:So yeah, I've been really enjoying that nice um yeah for knuckleheads like me, jake, give me, give us, a basic run through of what enshrouded is imagine you're playing skyrim and everything is breakable, okay, and you can pick up those pieces and then build your own stuff okay um, so there's, there's like a skill tree, there's a huge skill tree in it.
Speaker 5:Um, there's lots of monsters to like fight and stuff, um, but then, yeah, there's this. It it feels like two separate games, like it could be two separate games, uh, but it's. It's so well put together and like just the, the way that you can build in that game. I've never seen anything like that in any other game. Like it. It kind of uses like the, the voxel system I think that's what it's called. Um, so everything's kind of in pieces, but you can, you can build upon that, and some people have made like sometimes I'll just go on reddit and I'll look at builds that people have made, because they're just it's insane what people can build in that game.
Speaker 2:So yeah, is there an end game to it or is it just kind of an endless fuck around adventure, for lack of a better phrase pretty much um, there's not, there's.
Speaker 5:There's a lot of quests. Like it's not like like minecraft, where you kind of just go in and then you're like okay, I'm just going to start, there's lots of quests, you get people. So you get different people that come and hang out at your base that you can summon, and then it'll be like a carpenter or something like that that you can summon, and then it will be like a carpenter or something like that. And once you get the carpenter, then you can start building specific things the carpenter can build. And then they might have a quest when it's like oh, if you get me this table saw that I lost in this bandit camp I can start building other stuff. So it kind of like builds off of that and you can keep Keep like building other stuff. So it kind of like builds off of that and you can keep keep like unlocking new stuff and whatnot. It's really cool, okay.
Speaker 2:So there is like a narrative to it as well, then.
Speaker 5:Kind of yeah, yeah, there's, yeah, it's, it's. There's like a whole story and stuff and there's lots of like, if you're really into like lore and stuff, there's like books around all the different camps and stuff that you find that you can read stuff about. It's really cool.
Speaker 4:Okay, sounds pretty dope, yep.
Speaker 5:So yeah, I've been playing that a lot and I'll continue to play that game a lot until I get bored again. And I just picked up Marvel Rivals.
Speaker 4:I just downloaded it as well.
Speaker 5:Yeah, me and Zeb were just playing that before we hopped on here. It's so much fun.
Speaker 6:Is it.
Speaker 5:Yeah, there's so many heroes and they all have their own kind of quips and it's just it's.
Speaker 6:It's really cool and I want to play more, so I don't I don't, really don't want to get into a whole a new free-to-play games or like battle passes and stuff too so, yeah, it does have a battle pass.
Speaker 5:Um, we were, we were just looking at it.
Speaker 3:It looks like it's like five bucks for, like, the season zero one is like five bucks and the good thing about don't mean to cut you off, no like one of the best parts about it if you have a busy life is you buy the battle pass.
Speaker 7:You can come back like two years down the road and finish it oh no shit, that's smart yeah, yeah, all right, something similar to that too, because I remember I played that for a while and then stopped and then came back and I was like oh, I can still finish this battle pass from like a year ago, okay, cool so I I'm gonna be me here for a couple of minutes.
Speaker 2:I'm sorry, mike, but I, as a big overwatch player, I have marvel rivals. Questions have? You guys played yeah, a little bit okay how similar is it?
Speaker 5:it's quite similar. It's um the. I guess the big thing is it's it's third person, right um so can you switch that to first?
Speaker 2:are you forced to play in third?
Speaker 5:no, and I I don't think it would work well in first person. Just the the way that uh, abilities work in that game and stuff like that. There's a lot of fast moving, yeah, and there's a lot of melly focused heroes, okay, so some of them are right up, right up on you and stuff like that, and like I feel like I'd get motion sickness playing spider-man and then no, that makes perfect sense, yeah yeah, so, um, but like, even like the little like hit ticker, um, it looks exactly like overwatch.
Speaker 5:Like it sounds exactly like overwatch and every, every character has their own ultimate and stuff like that. Um, one of the cool things, though that we were means that we're looking at before, is that certain heroes kind of mesh together yeah, you can like combo right yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5:So like, um, like you can play as rocket raccoon and then also someone can play as group and then, like rocket raccoon can like climb on top of brute and then do like a special and stuff like that, and there there's like a whole like page on like what each kind of hero like connects with other heroes.
Speaker 2:It's really cool so Well, it was nice talking to you guys. I got to run. See you guys later Sounds like I got some fresh crack upstairs to smoke. I'll be back.
Speaker 6:Yeah it's that that does sound a lot of fun and I do love Marvel, but I I don't know, I'm going to. I'm going to if you know the heroes.
Speaker 4:If you know the heroes, free mic it's good, because they're true to their heroes.
Speaker 2:You guys are playing on PC though, right?
Speaker 5:Yeah, yeah, but I think it's cross-platform, isn't it, I'm sure?
Speaker 6:it is. Everything is nowadays.
Speaker 5:Considering you have to friend people within the game, that usually means it's cross-platform, I think.
Speaker 2:You guys should hit me up after I create my account, about 10 minutes after we all log off of here. My username is gonna be BoredNow23, with a capital B and a capital N, and it's bored, like I ain't got shit to do. Also, that goes to all of you listeners too. Feel free to hit me up. I'll play with people. I don't care. I play Overwatch every night and if I have something else to play, that's exactly like Overwatch. It's a nice warm-up for.
Speaker 3:Overwatch.
Speaker 6:There you go. It does sound fun. I'm going to have to start watching some streams of it before I take the plunge.
Speaker 5:I was also very surprised on how well the game worked. I was gonna ask with it being out for two hours and 43 minutes.
Speaker 2:As we speak, there's been no performance issues no no server issues no match
Speaker 7:right away, like yeah, yeah nothing, didn't our one friend have some issues? What was that?
Speaker 5:just his pc I think that was his pc. He got it figured out too, so oh, did he okay yeah, I think he just had to change some graphics settings or something sounds.
Speaker 6:Sounds fun. Okay, yeah, now my interest has peaked on that one, so thank you for thank.
Speaker 4:Thank you for Now. We're not going to spend some more money on it. No, free.
Speaker 2:Mike, I thought the Battle Pass was five bucks.
Speaker 6:That's a Battle Pass, you don't need the Battle Pass, Mike.
Speaker 3:That's just the devil on your shoulder tapping you going, yo dog give me five dollars.
Speaker 6:Here you go, take your five dollars.
Speaker 2:And it's good, forever, mike.
Speaker 4:That's five5 that never expires, that's true. So you're the devil on my shoulder.
Speaker 5:You're a really cool skin for Black Panther right away.
Speaker 6:That was really cool well, what else are you playing, jay?
Speaker 7:they're going to want to add the podcast right here hold on, there's a new competitive shooter out, I gotta go.
Speaker 4:Like I said, I wasn't kidding, I gotta go anything else you're playing?
Speaker 5:just, I guess I should say Destiny 2 and Final Fantasy 4, that's all good that's fine, we default you hate those games so much?
Speaker 6:yeah, phil and I have our default games too. So yeah, you feel free to say destiny 2, no problem oh, I hate overwatching the show.
Speaker 2:I just keep going back to him, except an attic cool, all right trina.
Speaker 6:How about you?
Speaker 7:well, I'll start out with our default games Destiny 2 and Final Fantasy 14. But yeah, I mentioned some of the games before. So Lost but Found that came out last week and I don't know why I sunk so many hours into it, but I think it's just kind of more of the satisfaction. But I think it's just kind of more of the satisfaction. So, essentially, you are a person who works at an airport but you're not like TSA or anything I've seen this one You're the person that gets like the lost items.
Speaker 7:Yeah, and people come up to you and you give them their lost item and there's like crazy items like a cat in a cage or, um, a sandwich, and it's like why is this person coming for this lost item? But all right, um. And then there's like other elements to it too. There's like a homeless guy that asks you for something and every time, like he gave me a note and it just said, like ducks, and I was so confused I don't know why he was giving me a note about ducks. And there's also a black market.
Speaker 7:You can buy like fancy tools and stuff with the money that you earned. Um, like one of them was like a magnifying glass to see how much items are worth and stuff. So you have a lot of stuff on your table. You can can like throw things in the trash if it's like only worth $5 or something, and there's a store. And then you can also get like promotions in your job and stuff and I don't know. I think I'm on day like 63 or something. I have played way too much of this game and there's a couple like buildings that that said like more uh content coming soon. So I'm sure they have some updates and stuff planned, but I don't know.
Speaker 2:I've been sinking a lot of hours into it is there an end game to that as well, or is it just open world endless?
Speaker 7:there is I technically have beat it um, there's a bank or whatever and you could give it 30K. It says you beat the game, congrats, and I'm like.
Speaker 4:I don't really know what that means, but I did it so.
Speaker 7:I think, there's an element of like you're supposed to like send money home or whatever. So I think maybe that 30K is like you're moving out, you're living big or something I don't know. But there's some story piece that I think is missing out with that game, but it's still very good what are you playing um?
Speaker 7:pc. I tried to play it on my uh steam deck last week when I was at my parents for Thanksgiving, but because it was like only a day or two old, uh, it wouldn't let me quite play it yet, so wouldn't work, got it Gotcha. Yeah.
Speaker 6:I think I saw it on sale on on on the uh steam autumn sale and it looked interesting. Is it so? Is it like a puzzle game, or is it?
Speaker 7:Kind of not really like items will come on the conveyor belt. You'll take the items off the conveyor belt to put on your table. If you don't take them off, you lose money. And then people will come up to you and say I lost this item and you just have to like drag it to them and then some items will have like mini games associated with them. So like you click on it and you like take a sticker off or uh, one of them that I didn't find until like day 50, uh, was a briefcase and it has a combination lock on it and I opened it up and all the times before that when I would open it up, there was nothing in it. And then on day 50, I opened it and there's a freaking bomb inside. I had to defuse the bomb and I didn't defuse the bomb correctly and it blew up and it was game over.
Speaker 1:And I was like what the heck?
Speaker 7:Where did this come from all of a sudden? So it did have some like fun, surprise elements to it, for sure.
Speaker 6:That's interesting. That's it. I'm gonna have to take a look um, and then the other one. You're muted at all or almost.
Speaker 2:We didn't hear you, oh yeah son of a bitch, I was muted um. Is it available on other things or just on the steam?
Speaker 7:I'm not sure. I have not looked, so that's fair steam for sure, I put you on the spot I would maybe hope switch, because no?
Speaker 6:phil doesn't like the switch. No, he hates it. That's his thing, it's not a thing, it's a real thing.
Speaker 7:I don't know, I'm just making fun of him.
Speaker 2:Yeah, now you're talking the right language, Trina. Thanks for coming back. I knew I liked you.
Speaker 7:Then the other game that I have been playing, at least this week, is Symphonia, and after this podcast podcast, I will be getting my official review up on the site and that game just came out today actually, but I obviously played it ahead of time and it is. I played it back when I was in Seattle. We went to this event called the Mix, which essentially is like a bunch of more developers at a little party and they give us free drinks and stuff for being press and it was really fun, um, but I played it there. I played the demo and it's like Hollow Knight, uh, mixed with, mixed with like the theatrics of brain work. What did I say in my review?
Speaker 7:Phantom of the Opera, so like, think of, like Phantom of the Opera, like he's got that mask on and everything.
Speaker 7:And then Hollow Knight, the platforming aspects of it, and you are essentially trying to bring music and sound back into this world and you kind of go through and things are just like eerie and quiet and the music kind of goes along with that and you find different things and you play your violin to get like platforms and things to move or plants to grow and or like this darkness to kind of go away. Um, they have like really creative elements to it, like when uh violin players play, they pluck their uh strings sometimes and the jump is like a pluck ability is what they call it, so you can jump higher, which I thought was really neat and cool. And, yeah, you're essentially trying to bring more music back into the world. So I found a flutist and there's some other characters that I won't spoil as well, but trying to bring the magic of music and there's very cool cut scenes in it where they're playing music together and just everything's kind of growing and becoming beautiful again, which I think is really cool.
Speaker 2:I was watching a trailer for it right before I jumped on to record with all of you guys and it looked super intriguing, which is why I wanted to hear more about it. You said you reviewed it.
Speaker 7:Yep, I'll have it up after this podcast, which will probably be up whenever you guys are listening to it.
Speaker 2:And where will that review be found?
Speaker 7:Maybe on a website called GamerHeadsPodcastcom.
Speaker 2:Girl, you got this down to a science. Full spoiler alert. What did you give it? If you don't mind me asking I gave it an A Okay.
Speaker 2:Let me ask this it a metroidvania trina, if you say I don't know what, that means I know what metro is, but like I've never actually played them, so I don't know if I can compare it so is there a lot of going back and forth on the map after you unlock something to go back to unlock a different spot of the map, that you can get to other things yeah, yeah.
Speaker 7:Yes. Alright, so basically Metroidvania there's secrets and stuff and you have to go back.
Speaker 6:Nice, I love that Sold. One huge map. You start off with not a lot of abilities. You gain more abilities. That gains you access to other areas of the map. So a lot of back and forth.
Speaker 7:And actually the secrets are what give you more abilities too. That's exactly.
Speaker 6:That's not see, no man, this was a big mistake having you all on that's three games. Now that I'm putting it, that's one of which is free not the battle pass five dollars, mike, five dollars.
Speaker 2:I'll bed mill you five bucks. After this we can play together okay, sounds good.
Speaker 6:Anything else?
Speaker 7:Gosh? No, I don't think so. This past weekend I was learning how to edit videos, so I was not playing as many games as I usually do on the weekend, Gotcha.
Speaker 6:All right, cool Phil. How about you? What games? Have you been playing.
Speaker 2:Mainly the usuals. I did take a dive off the deep end and I started the Call of Duty campaign just because I said I would and I have. And I am firmly reminded about how bad I am at Call of Duty games as soon as I stepped foot into the Call of Duty universe. I have not played anything online yet, but even just the campaign is kicking my ass around. But it's very well done, very well lit and it's got Lou Diamond Phillips in it, which is a big selling point to us old people, lpp. But I've enjoyed what bit of time that I've spent in it. And I also find it very, I'm going to say, odd, but not too surprising, that even just completing the first chapter of the campaign, you get a rare achievement for it, because nobody actually plays the campaign in Call of Duty. It's all just, everybody just plays multiplayer. So it's just like, oh, I completed the first thing and it's a rare achievement because only 9% of the people that play this game have done this Cool.
Speaker 7:I'll take it. I guess I have that achievement. Atta girl cool, I'll take it. I guess I have that achievement, attagirl.
Speaker 2:So yeah, I've spent some time with Call of Duty. Like I said, I've downloaded Marvel Rivals. I'm very much looking forward to playing that approximately. I don't know how long everybody's got to go by when five minutes okay cool, I'll be on Marvel Rivals in five minutes. Downloaded Crash Team Racing. Haven't started yet, haven't really started anything else. I've just kind of been stuck in my same rut, as there's been a lot going on in life, but you know what it's life, it happens, yep cool what about you, mike?
Speaker 6:uh. So I also downloaded um call of duty and then I started it up to play the single player campaign and then I uh said fu to activision and I deleted the game. Because they're like, because they well, in order to play the single-player mode you need to sign up for an Activision account. And I'm like, no, I don't. And then I hit the uninstall button.
Speaker 3:That's fair.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I don't want to get that. I'm so sick of doing that. I just want to pop in the game and play it, so I did that. That was fun, uh. And then I have been playing uh mortal combat one. Uh, because the uh chaos reigns dlc the story and the additional characters uh went on sale, so it was half price.
Speaker 6:I wasn't about to pay 50 bucks for it, but I'm okay damn, that's steep that's very steep and I'm okay paying 25 because at the same time they also released Ghostface, so I was practicing with Ghostface from Scream. That's cool.
Speaker 2:From Wu-Tang got it.
Speaker 6:I know who you're talking about. No, not him From Scream. So I've been playing that. And then they also had an event they do every two weeks. It's like the towers and you earn points by beating these towers and the more points you earn, the higher you're into like a percentage. So like if you're in like the top 50 percent of the points, uh, that people earn during these Towers of Time, you will get an exclusive skin or an exclusive item as part of your customization for the character, while this one had Ghostface as the announcer, the voice.
Speaker 6:So if you watch the Scream movies, the actual guy that does the voice of Ghostface is in this game. He does the voice for Ghostface, but if you're in the top 5%, you get the voice for free. So the voice being, like when you select your characters, he says round one fight. You know like that, like fatality, it's in his voice. So I was really grinding at that and I was able to get into the top 5%, so I earned that, so I got that. I've been playing Fortnite. Of course. They started up a new season so I got into that. It's interesting.
Speaker 2:Interesting good or interesting bad.
Speaker 6:No, interesting good. I mean, every time they start up a whole new island, I'm like, okay, I've got to get used to this now. But, um, but it's okay. I mean it's fortnite. What are you gonna say? You know, it's always the same thing, I heard you can be godzilla in that game wait what godzilla is in the battle pass like full-size, godzilla or mini-size godzilla, not like some of Godzilla, just like Godzilla from like and I think it's the Godzilla from the Godzilla Kong movies that have been coming out recently.
Speaker 5:Yeah, it looks like I saw him doing the gritty.
Speaker 6:Yeah, oh, that makes me feel dirty on the inside.
Speaker 2:Jake, take it back.
Speaker 6:There's a picture of you can do shoes now in the game too. What Shoes are part of of? You can do shoes now in the game, too. Shoes are part of. Like you know, you can choose your outfit and stuff, but shoes. So somebody actually has Godzilla in Air Jordans slamming a basketball.
Speaker 2:Mike, I will uninstall Fortnite if you keep this up.
Speaker 6:I didn't do it.
Speaker 2:I know, but you saying these things makes me want to just get rid of it.
Speaker 6:But, yes, but apparently full-sized Godzilla is going to be in the game too, supposedly Damn it.
Speaker 2:Now, I just reinstalled it.
Speaker 6:Fight him as a boss. I guess I also took advantage of some of the sales that are going on and I purchased all the DLC for $10 for Minecraft Dungeons and I started playing that because I was in the mood for a Diablo Lite. So I've been playing that and that one's Mindless Hack and Slash Very old school. So I'm enjoying that. And let's see, I also pre-ordered a game. It's not out yet, but I wanted to mention it because, zeb, you were talking about how much you like stories. I wanted to mention it because, zeb, you were talking about how much you like stories. I pre-ordered and downloaded the Legacy of Kain, soul Reaver 1 and 2 bundle the remakes, if you like stories. These are great stories. It's actually. They're written and directed by Amy Hennig, who went on to do the Uncharted games.
Speaker 6:Oh, okay to do the uncharted games. Okay, so it's old school, but, um, if you like zelda style gameplay with a bit of a gothic, darker vampire story, look into legacy of kane, soul reaver one and two remastered those were games I always like.
Speaker 5:Those were like playstation, like ps1 games ps1 and ps2 yep yep, yeah, yeah. So I never got to play those, but I always saw them and I thought they looked really neat. Um, did you ever play the dark cider game?
Speaker 2:oh, I love. Yeah, the dark cider games rule. Those games are fun yeah, it kind of reminds like, it kind of looks like that in a way, but more updated, I guess, yeah and there's a little more puzzles involved in the old soul river games as well.
Speaker 6:It's it's got the zelda aspect of puzzles to it. Yeah, a lot of sliding blocks and phasing through things and yeah nice but yeah, but no, it's fun, so I'm looking forward to playing that. Other than that, I and you know what I will be happy to say this I downloaded. I think it was like $2 on sale on Xbox Sudoku Classic X. Oh, you did get it. I did get it. Roger laughed at me. I'm like I don't know why I'm looking at this game. That's so funny.
Speaker 6:Lol, don well, don't you LOL at me. I'll buy the game, whether you like it or not. So I bought the game just to spite him and I'm enjoying it, and then I gifted him a copy too.
Speaker 6:That's right, but I mean I can't really get into it because it's Sudoku. You know, if I started talking about it we'd be here for hours, right, but it's, you know, it's fun. If I'm just listening to the radio and I got nothing to do before I go to sleep and I just want to relax, I'll just play a couple. There's 300 puzzles, so it's going to take a long time to get through this game.
Speaker 2:That's a penny, a puzzle, mike.
Speaker 4:That's a good deal.
Speaker 6:Yeah, the controls are intuitive. Controls are easy. It's only got three songs on it and each song is only about two minutes long, so I'm singing along. Yeah, I'm humming along with the tunes, like on my way to work and stuff, um, but yeah.
Speaker 7:Oh no, they're like earworms, yeah Well they're not good earworms, I mean they're.
Speaker 5:it's actually like they're almost kind of songs you would hear at a renaissance festival you know, what I mean?
Speaker 4:it almost sounds like medieval type music. Yep, yep, oh boy, yeah, heavy fluted songs yeah, yep, yeah.
Speaker 6:Or if you're playing an rpg episode yeah. If you're playing like an rpg and you wander into a town or something like that, the music starts playing. That's almost like that kind of music, so, but it's sudoku. What are you going to do?
Speaker 2:I immediately thought of the Animal Crossing song. As you said that it's just the same songs over and over again, no, I love.
Speaker 6:The Animal Crossing soundtrack man Animal. Crossing the 3DS one. That's one of my favorite soundtracks.
Speaker 7:Speaking of Animal Crossing, did you see? They closed down the pocket version and then now they're releasing it again, but you just like buy the full game for mobile yep, yeah, yeah, those sons of bitches I don't know how I feel about that yet dirty trina, that's the answer dirty I don't know.
Speaker 2:I was considering buying it you are part of the problem, young lady I know, letting him get away with it.
Speaker 7:It's $10 in January. Come on.
Speaker 2:You could buy two Battle Passes and Marvel Rivals for that much.
Speaker 6:You could buy Bellatro on your phone for that much.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 6:That's what I did.
Speaker 5:I haven't bought it on my phone yet. Or you could buy a Starbucks.
Speaker 6:A Starbucks, one Starbucks, wait, I thought we were talking about Gans, not Starbucks.
Speaker 7:That's the wrong answer, Jake.
Speaker 2:That is the wrong answer Wait what podcast? Am I in control of this podcast?
Speaker 4:No, I can't kick him out of here, damn it.
Speaker 2:Switch this back to my recording session.
Speaker 6:Alright. Well, yeah, that's pretty much what I've been playing, so let's go ahead and let's jump into. Our main topic here, and that is next week, is the Game Awards Bellatro Awards.
Speaker 2:Oh sorry, bellatro, I got excited.
Speaker 6:The Game Awards will be airing next Thursday, the 12th. I think. That goes from like 7 till 10 Central Time, something like that, and that's just what we've been seeing over these past so many years, where they give out awards and don't spend enough time giving out awards. I'm going to go on a rant. All right, I'm going to rant here it is. There's times when they're like, oh yeah, okay. Well, now let's listen to this pop artist for five minutes sing a song.
Speaker 6:Oh, by the way, here's an award we gave while this was happening. Here's another award we gave while this was happening. Here's another award. It's called the Game Awards Award, the awards during the show. Don't just say, oh yeah, here, this person won this, and they only actually do maybe about two-thirds of the actual presentations of the awards during the game awards. Otherwise they're like oh yeah, here's. Here's some other stuff we gave out. I don't know, am I, am I just a curmudgeon, the old man, for being upset at that? No, but I will say, mike, this year snoop dogg is going to be there, so I am I just a curmudgeon, the old man, for being upset at that?
Speaker 2:no, but I will say, mike, this year snoop dogg is going to be there, so I am not anti-musical performance yeah I thought I saw that I didn't really sleep much last night and I spent a lot of time on social media at approximately three o'clock in the morning and I'm well. I might have hallucinated it, but I thought I saw Snoop Dogg was performing.
Speaker 5:What does he do?
Speaker 2:Jake, I will kick you off this podcast twice in four minutes, jake.
Speaker 1:Come on. Canadian.
Speaker 5:I know who he is, and stuff like that. But, I feel like, what does he have to do with the Game Awards?
Speaker 2:You're fucking with me right now right.
Speaker 4:He does game.
Speaker 5:Did Roger send you here to see if you could piss me off.
Speaker 3:Is this what's?
Speaker 2:happening.
Speaker 6:Jake Go ahead.
Speaker 5:No, you go ahead.
Speaker 2:Damn Mike he just put you in your place. Yeah, I know.
Speaker 6:He was in the most recent season of Fortnite and his music was in it too, in terms of the rock band game that you can play in Fortnite, Does he?
Speaker 5:still do music, I think he does, okay, I think he yes Okay.
Speaker 1:I think he's more of a feature act now.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 5:I just thought he was like some stoner.
Speaker 2:Whoa, you watch, your damn mouth.
Speaker 6:He's not lying.
Speaker 2:Trina, you're now my second favorite person on this podcast. Way to get promoted, jake, I'm on your side. You are right. I have never been anti-Canadian in my entire life, until Jake stepped foot on this show and now, all of a sudden Canada is the worst place on earth.
Speaker 6:Here's the thing about Snoop Dogg he's everywhere, he's everywhere. I seriously I went to Shaquille O'Neal thing about snoop doggies is he's everywhere. It's like, yeah, he's everywhere. Like I seriously I went to uh shaquille o'neal yes video games that's right exactly yeah yeah, he'll show if there's. If there's a dollar to be made, he'll be there like I went. I went to a uh I'm the same way well, I know, but you're not snoop like we. We're not talking about.
Speaker 2:Phil, he was at the Olympics the only difference between Snoop and I is the obvious one.
Speaker 5:So why was he at the Olympics? And that's that. I'm not a multi-million dollar hip-hop artist.
Speaker 2:The rest of it all the same person, because everyone loves.
Speaker 7:Snoop Dogg Drake.
Speaker 6:Everybody likes him. He showed up to throw out the first pitch at a baseball game I went to over the summer and everybody was just cheering for him. He's just a lovable scamp, apparently.
Speaker 2:And the best part about it is in like 1996 he was on trial for murder charges and now all of a sudden he's just like America's lovable hip hop icon. He's a dude that's legit, killed people. And now all of a sudden he's like yeah, Snoop's great.
Speaker 5:I'm sure you could say that about a lot of the famous people.
Speaker 2:What? I'm sure you could say that about a lot of famous people. What? No famous people are perfect, jake.
Speaker 5:No, I mean.
Speaker 2:Especially Americans, ferris.
Speaker 6:Bueller killed somebody.
Speaker 5:That's what I was going to say, Matthew Broderick.
Speaker 6:Matthew Broderick ran somebody over and killed him in Ireland. Well, that's in Ireland it doesn't count. Hey, now wait a second. He didn't know what side of the road to drive on.
Speaker 2:Well then, that's not Ireland, it doesn't count. Hey, now wait a second. He didn't know what side of the road to drive on.
Speaker 6:Well then, that's not Ireland's fault.
Speaker 2:You're blaming Matthew Broderick still.
Speaker 6:Yeah, Alright that's fair. Alright good, Glad we had this conversation.
Speaker 4:Alright, now where were we?
Speaker 6:Game Awards.
Speaker 4:Okay.
Speaker 6:Let's Alright. So let's kind of blast through some of these categories and we'll get your thoughts on who you think should win. So we'll start with Best Independent Game, and the nominees are Animal Well, bellatro.
Speaker 6:Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, Neva and UFO 50. By the way, and if you've played any of these games, feel free to talk about them and feel free to mention uh one you think that should win. Uh, I'm gonna call it out balatro, but that's because it's the only game I played on the list and I love balatro I do too I went out of my way to play neva.
Speaker 7:Uh, and the reason I know it's called neva is because they say it multiple times throughout the game so that way people didn't think it was never.
Speaker 3:What game did they make before this?
Speaker 5:Yeah, what game did they make?
Speaker 7:Grease, I'm going to say it correctly, oh is it? Okay, yes, but maybe the same people. But Neva I absolutely loved. It has that same kind of vibe or element that Greece had, where it, like you are bringing color to the world and stuff. Um, however, this one has like combat and stuff involved in it, so like you're fighting off, like this evil spirit. Essentially I don't know if we ever got a name for it, but it's like bringing darkness to the world and, um, essentially kind of killing all the wildlife and whoa make the world like happy.
Speaker 7:Um, and there was actually some like pretty emotional moments because like my pet died and like came back to life where I went back in time, I'm not quite sure but like they were kind of like my pal and like helps me solve puzzles and do different things and you got to hold it and your pet the game died yeah that's way too powerful. I'm not playing this game I know it is pretty powerful, but in the end everything was fine, like I saved the world and my pet was still there. So okay.
Speaker 6:Do you think it's uh award-winning worthy?
Speaker 7:yes, oh, all right I watched roger play in Laser Eyes and I was so confused I don't know what was happening.
Speaker 4:That's because.
Speaker 2:Roger was playing it. Trina, you can be honest.
Speaker 7:At PAX and it wasn't my jam. And I'll be honest, I've never played Bellatro and I've never played UFO 50. Trina, shame on you. So Neva's my winner here.
Speaker 5:I'm gonna just put my hand in, for I think Bellacho's gonna win. But I also wanna say something about Animal Well.
Speaker 2:Please do. Did you play it?
Speaker 5:I never played it but but I did see a lot of really good things about it. Um, I'm also big mode. Uh is donkey donkey's new production company, if you know him. So I thought that was really cool for like kind of like a starting production company to get it like. It was a. I'm pretty sure shared memory is one is a one person deal and uh, I was hearing a really good things about that game. Um, I do think it was more of a flash in the pan. So that's why I think palacho is to win, just because people are still talking about Bellatro, where animal well is kind of not, so yeah, Sam, all right, have you played any of those.
Speaker 3:I played Bellatro. I had a boy. Well, admit, I was late to the party.
Speaker 2:That's all right. You still made it to the party.
Speaker 3:I didn't pick it up till they announced the cyberpunk oh, it's fine. Hey, any reason okay now I gotta get it, and yesterday was the first time I beat my first deck how did it feel?
Speaker 3:felt pretty good. Yeah, I get it now. At first I wasn't, and my wife had. She's played the shit out of the game. She's like you've got to keep playing. It's one of those games you can't put down until you get a good run and then it's got you. I only bought it on my phone and so I just play it when I've got a few minutes. It's that kind of game where you just oh, click, click, oh okay, and then you can just do something else and it's there for you.
Speaker 2:Yep, when you get that right combination of jokers, you just know you're going deep into it. You're just like, oh man, I'm going to make a run.
Speaker 1:And then when?
Speaker 6:it starts speeding up. That's the best feeling when you've got it. It's like ding, ding, ding ding. And then when the multipl Multipliers start going faster and faster.
Speaker 3:I will say I think what helped me get really into the game was because I was playing on my phone. I just turned the volume up and, yeah, it's the sounds that really help.
Speaker 6:I love the music, yeah.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 6:Cool, all right. So next best debut indie game. I don't know what the difference between independent and debut indie game is, but we have. Well, it's similar here. So Animal Well, bellatro, manor Lords, pacific Drive. Phil, did you play Pacific Drive or were you interested?
Speaker 2:No, it's a PlayStation. I'm super interested in it, but it's a PS5 exclusive.
Speaker 6:That's right, and the Plucky Squire.
Speaker 2:You make a fair point.
Speaker 6:I am no longer mad at you.
Speaker 2:Steve doesn't count for me okay. Well, I know, I know, but Not all of us have fancy-ass computers that can play video games. Trina.
Speaker 7:Sorry, some of us look like the homeless person at the airport that you're trying to give shit to okay.
Speaker 4:I'll give you a note that says ducks.
Speaker 6:Has anybody played any of those games? Animal, well, bellatro, well, we don't know Bellatro, but man of Lords, pacific Drive or Plucky Squire.
Speaker 7:Plucky Squire.
Speaker 6:Yeah, is that fun. I'm super intrigued by that.
Speaker 7:Oh my gosh, it's so fun. I've been streaming it the last couple weeks, so I guess I've been playing more games than I remember.
Speaker 6:You've been streaming it.
Speaker 7:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Wait, where can people find your stream?
Speaker 6:Where can they find your stream?
Speaker 4:Sorry, I didn't mean to step in your toes.
Speaker 7:Twitchtv slash Trina Ballerina, trina with two A's. But yeah, it is super unique in the way that, while it still has like platforming oh my gosh, get rid of the duck note it still has like platforming elements to it. But you start out in a storybook, so you're like playing in the storybook and then this evil wizard, who's like always been your nemesis, finds out that you're in a story book and that he can manipulate the story, and so he uses like evil magic and kicks you out of the book. And then your character is like in the real world and you're on this like kid's desk. Who has created this world?
Speaker 7:Basically, and there's lots of cool elements of like going in and outside of the book to like either go get items or to flip back in pages to get different things to help you to move forward, or to manipulate the story, so like, for example, there was a like rat that I had to get past and, uh, there was a big rock in my way, or I would have to walk past the rat and just get attacked.
Speaker 7:And one of the things that I did was I hopped out of the book and I like leaned the book and the rock slid so that I could go into, um, like it hit the wall and there was like another page that I could go into and then, um, I got an item from in there and then I could slide it back, go back a couple pages, grab the word cheese, bring it back and change the word rock to cheese and it turned into a block of cheese and the rat ate it.
Speaker 7:So so it was like super cool, like you can manipulate the story and you're not like like nothing's ever a wrong answer in terms of like changing the words and stuff. It's not always just like the thing that's going to move you forward, but you do get like fun achievements and stuff Like I made like a tiny mouse and while that wasn't the right answer, I got an achievement for doing it. So I was having fun like going back to a bunch of pages and grabbing words and just seeing what I could create, because they have figured out every possibility, basically and like make the story do that for you, which is really cool nice yeah, so that's my winner out of those ones.
Speaker 7:So you're saying it's worth playing oh, yeah, one thousand and ten percent excellent cool, uh, all right.
Speaker 6:Next one. Best family game astrobot uh, let's see princess peach showtime, super mario, party jamboree, legend of zelda, echoes of wisdom and once again, the Plucky Squire.
Speaker 2:I'm going to say the Plucky Squire, because it's the only one that's available on the Xbox, and the rest of the games can go fuck themselves.
Speaker 7:Wow.
Speaker 3:My vote is Astro Bot, but I honestly think with accessibility, because most people do have a Switch Seb.
Speaker 2:We've done so good up until this exact moment.
Speaker 3:Well, it's almost outsold the PS2 at this point, but I'm going to say, because of how many people own a Switch, super Mario Party Jamboree is probably going to get Best Family Game. It looks fun.
Speaker 6:Yeah, and that's a good point, because out of all those games, so Astro Bot single player, oh no, there's a multiplayer aspect to it, right. No oh they've got time trials and stuff too, right or speed running Astro. Bot single player. Princess Peach single player. Echoes of Wisdom. Plucky Squire single player. Single player. Jamboree party game.
Speaker 5:I did play Echoes of Wisdom. I thought it was a really fun game. I think the fact that there's so many different ways you can achieve a goal is really cool, and I can see a lot of kids enjoying that, probably sitting down with their parents and thinking about ways to get through certain things. Um, it, it, it.
Speaker 5:It could be a good family game, I think okay, that's a good call yeah it's, it's very cartoony, uh stuff like that it's, it's a really fun game. So yeah, I'm going to say, I'm going to say I'm going to say I have to go with Sub on Super Mario Party.
Speaker 7:I feel like it fits the family category better. I hate to say it, but Zeb talked me into.
Speaker 4:Mario.
Speaker 2:Party as well. I enjoyed Jake's reasoning, but Zeb talked me into it, and sorry man.
Speaker 5:You know what I'm going to say. Mario Party 2 now.
Speaker 7:But you can't do that. We changed your mind.
Speaker 2:I enjoyed your argument about like everybody sitting around and like discussing how to get through different puzzles. I think that's a fantastic idea, but the actual multiplayer facet of Mario Party I think is going to carry that much further.
Speaker 5:If we lived in a perfect world.
Speaker 3:Astro Bot would win.
Speaker 5:Astro Bot no, yes, I think Echoes of Wisdom should be on this list at least. But yeah, I think probably Mario Party is going to win, or Astro Bot, If for some reason they I don't know Sometimes they just pick a game I find and then it just wins everything.
Speaker 2:Jake, it's voted on by the people.
Speaker 6:There are no such thing as rigged elections Right, maybe in the fall right, maybe in there could be, there could be, uh, there could be a argument for the for the uh game awards being rigged. But that's what a lot of people tend to say afterwards. But anyways I it's.
Speaker 3:It's definitely a popularity contest yeah, everyone's gonna have have conflicting answers.
Speaker 6:Oh yeah, people get so salty over these. Let's see what's next Best narrative. So we have Final Fantasy VII, rebirth Like a Dragon, infinite Wealth Metaphor, refantazio, senua's Saga, hellblade 2, and Silent Hill 2. I haven't played a single one of those, so I got no skin in this game.
Speaker 7:Zub, did you play Metaphor?
Speaker 3:So I played the demo slash prologue that Metaphor Refantazio has to offer and I really enjoyed it and where the story was going, I think was really good. It almost felt timely, like because for the whole I'll just say, like the plot of it is, it's a fantasy world and there's like a fantasy story in this world of another world with one race that just all gets along. There's no tribes or anything. And I'm like and they just, and when they're talking about it they're just showing earth pretty much. You see skyscrapers and modern technology and you're like, well, why can't we have that perfect world?
Speaker 3:If this is the fantasy world, they're thinking we literally have it and I just felt like it really like if that's like where they were going to go with the story and from the reviews I read, it kind of sounds like it was, it sounds like it would be a really good story. But it came out like a month ago and I'm still trying to beat Persona 5, which is yeah it's a task, and that's my Steam Deck game I play in the morning during work cough cough, not during work.
Speaker 7:Cough cough, not during work. No, no, no.
Speaker 3:Before work. But yeah, so I think Metaphor is good. And then Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. I played about 15 hours of that so far and it's beautiful that so far, and that's it's beautiful, like if you're a final fantasy fan. It has all the check checks, all the boxes. It's good cgi cut scenes and story and voice acting and every. It's a really good game. So it's.
Speaker 6:It's a hard choice what do you think is gonna be? What I think is gonna win is either Final Fantasy or Silent Hill.
Speaker 3:Now I guess there's a whole other rant, though.
Speaker 3:That I have is they're both remakes that's right, that was another point of contention is like half your like, I will say, the Rebirth. I've never played the original Final Fantasy VII and looking into trying to catch up because I played the last remake, the part one, they do add differences. There are like it has diverged, and they've added like they're called the whispers or the shadows, and they show up to correct the story back to its original form when people played it on, like the PlayStation one or whatever. So that, so that is cool. But yeah, they're both remakes, so I feel like most of their work was already done ages ago.
Speaker 5:It's a valid point. What would you say should win if you took those off?
Speaker 3:I, I don't know. I can't give a valid opinion because I've only played metaphor, but not that much. But I will say, everyone that plays the Yakuza games I've only played Metaphor, but not that much. But I will say, everyone that plays the Yakuza games I've only played Zero love them and I do see why they love them. So I could see that one winning and I do think it does deserve it, because people were upset that that didn't get near the top for Game of the Year. It's a pretty loved franchise, so I could see that.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I don't know. Like I said, I haven't played any of those, but I see your point about being remakes and stuff. When they announced those, people were pretty, pretty upset about that. And speaking of other nominees that people are upset about, well, let's go to Best Game Direction and our nominees are Astrobrot, bellatro, black, myth, wukong here we go. Elden Ring Shadow of the Entry. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Metaphor ReFantasy. So DLC Elden Ring, dlc Nominated.
Speaker 5:It's gonna win, I think it's fine for Game.
Speaker 3:Correction.
Speaker 5:And I'm voting for it.
Speaker 6:You're voting for it to win. You just want there to be total chaos.
Speaker 5:Yeah.
Speaker 6:Watch it, burn it's freaking good.
Speaker 5:I absolutely love Shadow of the Earth 3, and I think it deserves it.
Speaker 2:Jake, how long of a piece of DLC, was it?
Speaker 3:I would say about 30 hours. Okay, that's full game. Oh, that's, that's good then okay, yeah, but no, no. Yes, to play the base game to get to the DLC. That doesn't make it its own game, at least when Cyberpunk had Phantom Liberty. When you boot up the game, it just says do you just want to jump right into Phantom Liberty? We'll give you the XP that we think you would have gotten by the time you would have reached this point. Blah, blah, blah, blah, just jump into it. I want to play shadow of the earth tree, especially before the game awards, but I have to spend like 40 hours in base game.
Speaker 2:Elden ring just to get and that's not just 40 hours that's 40 hours of getting your ass kicked and abusive 40 hours hey zeb, hey zeb.
Speaker 5:I have a question for you. If you, if you were to just jump into the marvel cinematic universe and just go right into avengers, do you think you would have a good time?
Speaker 3:yeah, no, you need to know everything no, you would they make each movie to be standalone, but the easter eggs are there for the ones like you or I, that pay attention to that stuff. So we can turn to our partner and be like, oh my god, and they go, uh huh true, but I think.
Speaker 2:Counter argument, jake, what uh-huh true, but I think counter-argument, jake, if one was to have read all of the lore of the marvel cinematic universe and jumped into the avengers movie instead of watching all the prequels, because they have read essentially every comic that led up to that point, including everything that transpires in the avengers movie, they'd still have a good time with the Avengers, right, true, so you could just play through a Veldenring and you're fine.
Speaker 3:But you need to.
Speaker 5:No, I can't play the DLC without playing the game. Yeah, so the thing is.
Speaker 4:Jake, you're gatekeeping.
Speaker 2:I think that's the word that the kids use Probably, probably, whatever. I don't care, just shut up, phil, sorry.
Speaker 5:Jake, I'll put my head down and just drink beer no, I think I do understand what Zeb's coming from, like you do need to. There's a boss, and it's a significant boss that you actually need to beat before you can well, is this the one that?
Speaker 3:watched you struggle for like, and it's a significant boss that you actually need to beat before you can. Well, significant bosses, is there?
Speaker 7:two, one that watched you struggle for like multiple days on end radon first right, and then you have to be stars mo I don't think you have to be radon, I think you just I
Speaker 3:mean because you just spoil the ending of the dlc, but redon plays an important oh yeah, that's true.
Speaker 5:Yeah, but to, to get to moog, you just need to get to the blood palace and, oh yeah, just get to the blood palace it's.
Speaker 2:You know, if somebody would have told me elden ring has a place in it called the blood palace, I probably would have played it by now. You might have just sold me on elden ring just because now I know there's a good palace, I won't deny it.
Speaker 5:It's a good game great game I love.
Speaker 3:It's the first souls like game I've ever played, I but dlc.
Speaker 5:I think the thing, too, is that if, if you're gonna play shadow of the earth tree, you're probably a elden ring player, like I can't see someone going into that game and being like I'm just going to pick up Shadow of the Earth Tree, what is this other game I have to?
Speaker 4:play.
Speaker 5:They're going to know.
Speaker 3:I think it belongs in best game direction because it is its own like story, right, it's something new. But I don't think it belongs in game of the year, for that later time is awful oh shit, it is in game of the year as well I think, if anything, it should be in game direction, like I think it should.
Speaker 1:Yeah yeah, I agree with that.
Speaker 5:Yeah, I, I. I think it's like the fact that it was even nominated for game of the year and it's a dlc has to say something like it's it's a huge game, like I. I understand that, like you have to get to a certain point and everything like that, but I don't know, you got to play it.
Speaker 3:I just might be a little salty that Cyberpunk, that Phantom Liberty, got put in best ongoing game category last year. When it's like well, you can't compete, cyberpunk can't compete against WoW or Destiny. When it's like well, you can't compete, cyberpunk can't compete against wow or destiny when it's not an ongoing game.
Speaker 2:So it's like, conversely, it's looked at as an ongoing game, which is kind of a huge thing, because it's saying that I don't know, was there an end game to what is it called phantom liberty? No, that's a metal gear game.
Speaker 3:It is called phantom liberty. There's an end game to it, though, right, I mean?
Speaker 5:it's a single player one and done thing.
Speaker 2:It's a separate ending to the game, but I guess ongoing game is different than games as a service, which is where you would throw a Fortnite, marvel, rivals and Overwatch that kind of shit.
Speaker 1:So I mean ongoing game.
Speaker 2:I get it because it's an extension of a game which you could make the argument. That's where uh shadow of the erd tree belongs.
Speaker 3:What is in best ongoing game? I don't know, we're not talking about that one here.
Speaker 2:Damn it, we're arguing about other things that are irrelevant yeah yeah, I don't know um, oh, they got destiny, diablo, final fantasy, 14, fortnite and helldivers, see like.
Speaker 3:So those are all games as service. Yeah, yeah no, I I think that last year phantom liberty should have been nominated for like game direction, at least for well, for anything that shadows your tree like I think this is just kind of a new thing that I think maybe, and it could be a result of phantom liberty, true and they're like okay, this dlc also was huge.
Speaker 5:We also last year had so many games come out.
Speaker 3:It's also true you know, skate swept it, yeah, yeah, it was a good year yeah, so all right.
Speaker 5:Maybe it's just the fact they didn't have enough games to put on the list and they're like well, shadow of the earth tree came out. Give a point to jake, it's a rigged election all right go ahead, mike so yeah.
Speaker 6:So now we're moving on to the last category, game of the year nominees, and the nominees are astrobot, belatro, black, uh, myth wukong, elden ring, shadow of the erd tree. I think I accidentally called it entry. This is what happens when you're you get it when your eyesight is going uh. Final fantasy 7, rebirth, and and Metaphor, re-fantazio. What do you think is going to win? Game of the Year what do you think, not what you want to win, what do you think is going to win?
Speaker 7:Astrobot.
Speaker 6:Astrobot.
Speaker 5:Yeah.
Speaker 3:I think so. I think I'd like it to be Astrobot, but some of my other friends have kind of convinced me it might be Black Myth Wukong.
Speaker 2:I've seen more hype over Astro Bot than I have over Black Myth Wukong, having only played exactly one game on this list.
Speaker 7:They had Astro Bot at PAX West and the line was never short for that. It was out the door like every single day, and they only let you play like three minutes of the game like so. It's just crazy I mean people are so hyped for it because?
Speaker 3:I mean because, just if you think about how it even started, it was just a demo, he was just a guy that was supposed to be a demo showing it was kind of a tech demo right.
Speaker 2:Yeah, how awesome.
Speaker 3:Your controller was and stuff. And everyone went no, we want a full game of this guy, we need full game. And then sony took it and ran with it and if you've played any sony game in your history're probably going to find a character there that you're like. I know that guy. I remember him when I was like 10 years old. There was no Sony when I was 10, zeb PlayStation was not a thing yet. Sorry.
Speaker 4:Don't apologize for that shit, Zeb.
Speaker 2:Jake, you're back up to number three, heck yeah.
Speaker 5:I'm sure I'll say something else.
Speaker 6:I'm sure, no matter who wins, there'll be a lot of people complaining on the internet absolutely because that's what the internet's for, alright, so let's really quick. Any new games, because that's half the game awards is game awards and the Game Awards is Game Awards and the other half is Game Announcements. So any announcements that you think we might see or that you would want to see.
Speaker 3:I'm hoping to see something from Destiny because of the state of the game. Final Shape was a great expansion and honestly it left me so happy the way it was like the avengers end game for gaming for me, and but what they're following it up with has been left me wanting. So I'm hoping that they have something to show us to get us excited again. They did last year or the year before or whatever, so I'm hoping the tradition continues Nice.
Speaker 2:I am really hoping to see some in-game footage and gameplay from Borderlands 4. I would really like to see some Borderlands 4 in-game footage.
Speaker 3:I forgot.
Speaker 7:I didn't realize they were making another Borderlands.
Speaker 3:They announced it a few months ago, right.
Speaker 2:Trina, you're going to fall to number three if you keep this shit up.
Speaker 4:I'm sorry, I'm upside all the other ones.
Speaker 6:Trina, how about you? Anything you were hoping to see?
Speaker 7:I don't know. I feel like I haven't really seen any announcements or potential things, so I'm not sure what is going to be shown All right, jake, how about you?
Speaker 5:Anything Okay, two things Fable, because I feel like we haven't heard anything about that game in forever and Avowed. I'm really interested in.
Speaker 6:Oh yeah, that's got a release date on it, doesn't it February right?
Speaker 5:I think so yeah.
Speaker 4:It's early next year.
Speaker 5:They showed some gameplay a while back back and people were kind of like meh. So I I heard they kind of went back and did some stuff. So it'd be kind of interesting to see some more stuff about that.
Speaker 2:So, yeah, nice personally, I would truly like to see sorry, mike, I'd truly like to see an actual release date for Gears of War, the new one that's coming out, oh yeah.
Speaker 6:That's true, yep. I would like to see more info on Perfect Dark.
Speaker 6:I hope they do more with Perfect Dark. That'd be fun to see. I'm hoping that they do a trailer. So I'm hoping we get some twofers for Metroid. I hope we get a new trailer for Metroid Prime 4, and I hope they do maybe a shadow drop of Metroid Prime 2 Remastered, since they released Metroid Prime 1. And then, finally, the one I'm really hoping for, and I got my fingers crossed. I really think they're going to show it. I really want to see a new trailer trailer for resident evil 9, if we can?
Speaker 5:oh, that'd be so I would love that massive, can I throw a curveball.
Speaker 4:That I think, phil would hate what was that?
Speaker 7:I was like can I throw a curveball that I think phil would hate?
Speaker 2:please do. Is it a new zelda game or a new Mario game?
Speaker 7:No, no, no, no, no. So they've been like everyone's, suspecting that potentially the Switch 2 is going to come soon. Could you imagine if they announce like a release date?
Speaker 3:How could I not mute you Try and like hell to mute you and I can't.
Speaker 2:I hate not being able to we gotta get Phil.
Speaker 6:Phil, he'll be screaming and he'll be the first one To pre-order it. How?
Speaker 5:So I'll put some money in and get him one.
Speaker 7:No, jake, wait, wait, wait. You gotta go to the Patreon page so that we can Buy a fellow Switch tip, that's right.
Speaker 2:And true.
Speaker 7:What is that?
Speaker 2:Patreon page Trina.
Speaker 7:Oh, just look up GamerHeads Podcast. You type in some words you can probably find it on.
Speaker 2:GamerHeadscom.
Speaker 6:Alright, alright, well, hey, that pretty much wraps it up. Look at that, we had a pretty meaty show today. So thank you, Trina, zeb, jake, for Welcome to the GamerHeads family and great to have you on. We hope to have you on on every episode we do from now on. So if anybody wants to get a hold of you on social media, how can they do that, zeb?
Speaker 3:Oh, I'm on Twitch Twitchtv slash MrZBear.
Speaker 5:Z-E, not ZBear.
Speaker 7:ZBear.
Speaker 3:Get out of here You're on Blue Sky too. I don't remember my stuff.
Speaker 6:Trina, how about you?
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 6:Oh, I'm sorry, Zed, did I interrupt you? No, you're good, that's it.
Speaker 7:Trina. I said my Twitch earlier. Twitchtv slash Trina Ballerina with two A's and I'm also on Blue Sky Instagram, anything that you can think of. Just search for Trina Ballerina and you'll find me.
Speaker 6:All right.
Speaker 5:Jake, I don't really have a Twitch. I think I've livestreamed like twice and had Zeb and Trina and that was it. But you can on Blue Sky. I'm Klobinson with two B's.
Speaker 2:Okay, the two B's is not the confusing part. How about you start that?
Speaker 5:How did I start that name?
Speaker 2:Is it with a K or with a C?
Speaker 5:C-L-O-B-B-I-N-S-O-N, like the thing Clobbering time. You get it. Oh, I get it, do you get?
Speaker 1:it. Oh, I get it. Yeah, do you get it?
Speaker 2:you know ben grim, the thing from the fantastic four. Maybe you've heard of them, maybe you haven't. Dude, it's made out of rubble and I'm not talking about a bunch of Barneys.
Speaker 6:That was good. Alright, phil, how about you?
Speaker 2:you can find me on, apparently, twitter, at Bino23. I think I'm also on Blue Sky and I've never posted a damn thing there, probably at BoredNow23 or Bino23, I don't really know. Yeah, man alright and don't worry about me.
Speaker 6:I don't do anything on social media. No, you know what I'm like. We're the same boat together. Yeah, man, all right, that's all I got and don't worry about me.
Speaker 2:I don't do anything on social media. No, you know what I'm like.
Speaker 6:We're in the same boat together.
Speaker 2:We DM each other is what we do on Twitter. That's all we do.
Speaker 6:That's right, all right, well, thank you everybody for joining us. Trina, jake, phil, thank you so much for hanging out with us today. Uh, let's see what else. Oh, if you want to uh see any of our reviews, articles, interviews, any information like that, you can go to gamerheadspodcastcom. All right, and until next time, everybody, stay safe and game on. We'll see y'all next time. Have a nice night.
Speaker 2:So long say bye you assholes, goodbye, see ya, take care there we go.
