Speaker 1:

All right, so we are gonna have a fun filled, fun filled hacks episode. Fun, I know I'm sorry. Well, you are kind of fun, oh, but before we go into that before, uh, before we before, no, not kind of fun, you are very fun. Before we get into the whole, the whole, uh, mike has a rant and then we'll go into packs. But before this, I do want to say one thing. So, when we were in boston it was my wife and I were in boston for a full week and uh, so I was there saturday, sunday, monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday, saturday, sunday, monday wow, that's a long time. Uh, on the 19th, what counted? 11 there? Well, yeah, longer than a week, uh, but on tuesday, uh, the 19th, was my wife's birthday and I went to. I booked a restaurant. Uh, I booked an italian restaurant don't shake your head, phil.

Speaker 3:

And you can't see that. You don't gotta tell them. I'm shaking my head. You wanna tell them about everything that I do? Here's my boobs and the bill.

Speaker 1:

You know, my wife was like, wow, can we order, can we afford this? And I'm like, yeah, we can afford it, it's fine, it's fine, and we get our bill, or we're waiting for our bill bill, and the waiter comes out and says, uh, it's already taken care of. And my wife was, both of us were like what, what, what, what? And my wife was like, looking around, she's like is there somebody in this, in this restaurant, that paid for this? What's going on? And I said, phil, you son of a bitch. And I quickly texted you uh, it was phil. Phil, thank you so much for paying for our meal.

Speaker 3:

That was very nice of you you know, when you're the president, you can pull some strings nationwide and you can make things happen for people that you appreciate and like and adore and uh. So, yeah, it was no problem, it was on the company card.

Speaker 2:

So you'll see the bill shortly and we're going to be filing for bank. That's right, that's right, that's right, that's right that was.

Speaker 1:

That was very kind of you and, uh, I was very touched by that. So was my wife. We were both very like, moved by that. So, thank you, that was very nice gesture, appreciate it.

Speaker 3:

So providing experiences, it's what I do when I can.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it was very fun. It was a nice night too and it was a very good meal. And I felt really bad then because I ordered the lobster ravioli and I was like dude, like I said, be happy.

Speaker 3:

I just didn't send two to three bottles of wine out to the table out of the gates just to confuse the hell out of you like I that would have really was not worried about the price of the meal because, the price of the meal. That restaurant was not going to bust Gamerhead's bank with all the sponsorships, endorsements and we can use a couple more patrons to cover the tip on that bill.

Speaker 1:

But outside of that the rest of it was under control. I would say, if you would, if we would start off as a few bottles of wine, my wife would have been like we can't afford this. What is going on? What's going on?

Speaker 3:

I'm like, I don't know, I don't know, it would have tipped the entire thing, which is why I didn't play the card that way, because, like, when you show up to a table, you sit down, there's two bottles of wine waiting for you, which is like uh, okay.

Speaker 1:

So before we get into packs and everything, uh around packs, mike, you have. You have a soapbox item, don't you? I'll give you the floor. I'm gonna step aside. You take the floor here thanks, because I'm gonna need this, roger go I pulled the rug out, as he gave me the floor Like a magician.

Speaker 2:

That's right, all right, microsoft, what are you doing?

Speaker 3:

Everything right, except for what you're about to talk about. What are you?

Speaker 2:

doing? What are you doing? What do you think you're doing? If anybody is like me and I hope you're not you're I. Really.

Speaker 1:

That's a weird way to begin the conversation. Where's this going?

Speaker 2:

I got to say I have enjoyed the Microsoft Rewards program that they've got going on. So those of you who might not be aware, microsoft Rewards program is basically you earn points by doing different daily quests by and you also like, earn points by purchasing things on the digital storefront, also by using the Xbox app, by playing games on your PC a whole lot of different ways to earn rewards points. And those rewards points can then be cashed in for various things. You can enter contests, you can get discounts on physical items, you can get gift cards to amazon target and microsoft, or you can do and microsoft or you could do.

Speaker 2:

What I do is that is just, uh, have a monthly um automatic withdrawal of I think it's like 8,700 points to get a $10 Xbox credit on your account. Over the past year, microsoft has been making some subtle changes to the rewards, and when I say subtle, I mean they've been basically allowing you to earn less and less points by still doing the exact same thing, less and less. All still doing the exact same thing, less and less. All right, that's fine, you know, I I understand, like, because when I was first getting into it, like they were very generous, it was very generous. You were, you could may earn a lot of points if you do a lot of the work, and so I was like okay, this is some of this is understandable yes, I would just like to say that, based off their generosity, I've gotten multiple, multiple games for no exaggeration free.

Speaker 3:

Not free as in game, pass free, but free. Free because, like you, can just accumulate those awards heavily, especially if you're like me and you use bing as your search engine, because that just compounds on top of all that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, sorry so so, yeah, so, and then, like like phil just said, I mean it's, it's a great program until recently they have now. So first thing they did is they used to have a 2000 a month um quest, where you you had to do a whole bunch of different stuff throughout one month and you would get 2,000 points Fantastic. Then one day we load it up and you get 1,000 by doing the same stuff and then, like four months later, it was gone completely. Then they also had a weekly bonus where you can get 100 points a week. Oh, they still have that. They still have the 100 points a week thing, but you're learning less and less. Now I pulled up my app. You get 50 points a day for playing a pc game. Now they dropped it to 20 points. They had the the game, and I love playing this game.

Speaker 1:

Microsoft jewel oh yeah, that's on the app. That's a match three game.

Speaker 2:

That's your typical. You would earn 30 points a day playing this game nothing fine, I love it.

Speaker 2:

Now it's five points a day, five. So, needless to say, I'm not very happy with microsoft right now and again, like I know well, it's free stuff. You're getting free stuff, I know, but that going from that's that big of a drop from 30 to 5 and you're just getting less and less points. So and we all know they're just looking to phase it out completely they did. It's just going to happen eventually, or you're just going to get so little points that it's just what's the point what's the point?

Speaker 1:

the point, the points. That's what I cut. I cut myself off. What's the points?

Speaker 2:

we should have a segment called what's the points and well, that should be phil's segment, where we talk so much.

Speaker 1:

Well, I think, no, I think it should be about where are we at for the different points, and every week you give us an update, mike. Well, today, you know, jewel is now at one point. You get one point to play this game. Uh, well, uh, are you? Do you feel better, though, now that you got that off your chest?

Speaker 2:

I do, yeah, thanks roger, I appreciate you here. You can have the floor back there you go.

Speaker 3:

Well, just gently slide the rug back underneath him. Oh, here's your rug, oh man.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, so I guess let's talk about the main topic. Pax East just happened. I just got back from PAX East. It was probably my favorite PAX I had. It was awesome. It was really fun. I got to hang out with a lot of different people. So a special shout out to the Boss rush network for allowing me to be their adoptive, uh, member of their team. Because I will tell you and I know I've asked you, both of you and you both are like yeah, I don't, not that you don't want to go, but you don't want to go right. I mean like, well, mike, you'd want to go. I don't think, phil, you don't want to go right, like it's not during baseball season. So I got no point to go.

Speaker 3:

I don't think, Phil, you don't want to go right, it's not during baseball season, so I got no point to go to Boston other than that.

Speaker 1:

If I can go to a Red Sox game. We're not talking about next year.

Speaker 3:

We're talking about current times, Mike. If we're talking about next year, we're going to talk about the Kickstarter game you funded.

Speaker 2:

I have a new rant to go on.

Speaker 3:

It's about hostility of. I got attacked for two and a half hours mercilessly yesterday for being a Cubs fan. Don't even start with me.

Speaker 1:

I didn't say anything, but you made the decision hold on.

Speaker 2:

I didn't say anything.

Speaker 1:

I did not say anything about you being a Cubs fan. I just want to make it clear no, you're off the hook.

Speaker 3:

Mike's throwing rocks at me.

Speaker 2:

I'm busted up above my eye. Make it clear no, you're off the hook. This is mike mike's throwing rocks at me.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I got a busted up above my eye.

Speaker 1:

Um anyway, pax, can I go back to pax?

Speaker 2:

uh, so, yeah, so before accident.

Speaker 1:

Or jane, yeah, pax east. Uh so, uh. So first I'll mention, I can tell you a couple funny stories that happened at pax before we get into, or what happened in Boston, I should say before I get into PAX. So the first one have either of you been to Boston ever, phil?

Speaker 2:

you have? Oh, yeah, I have not. Oh, you have not. My company's HQ is in.

Speaker 1:

Boston oh, you have Mike, but you have not Phil. Oh I thought that was the other way around.

Speaker 3:

No, I tried to go a couple of years ago but I was going to go see a Red Sox game and the Yankees were in town and the tickets were like 400 bucks for the game, for cheap seats, and then the hotels within three miles of the stadium are also like $300. And I'm like I don't care about the Red Sox or the Yankees, I'll come back another day, yeah, so.

Speaker 1:

So first of all, I'll just mention I love Boston. I think Boston is like one of my favorite cities in America. It's it's an amazing city. It has really awesome culture and history, the people I can. There is something special about Boston. I feel like the people of Boston really love their city and, uh, and for being a big city, it's clean, it's clean, it's a clean city. I'm I was always really impressed with how clean Boston is, um, and it's just a fun city. It's such an amazing. It's a walkable city too, like everything's walkable. So I I just really love.

Speaker 3:

I love boston, um so my experience that's been most of the east coast, though just because it's so old that it's all built yeah, that's true, and built on top of itself people that are from the east coast. Don't realize how small the east coast is until you go out there and like you're just like, oh, I'm driving from such and such, just such and such, and it's like 45 minutes.

Speaker 1:

You're just like, oh shit, I'm there already yeah, yeah, it's weird, yeah, but it's it's cool, but it's weird yeah, um, as midwesterners, yeah, where everything is very far away um six hours. Six hours, yeah, that's it. That's it, um, let's. So. So my wife and I got there Saturday, cause we wanted to go to the St Patty day parade on Sunday. So what she did, and which was cool, it was cool, uh, and then, like I mentioned, it was my wife's birthday on Tuesday, um, but we did some sightseeing as well, and we we never been to the public library before. So we went to go see the public library, which was an amazing library. If you've ever been to the Boston library, it is so amazing, such a beautiful building. But the other reason I wanted to go into the public library because they have they have public bathrooms, because finding a public bathroom in Boston is not always the easiest because they're all locked right. So, yeah, uh. So this is my first funny story, so I like where this is right.

Speaker 2:

You're gonna tell a pooping story on the podcast yeah, I went into. Yeah, here's my first funny story. I went, so I go to this public bathroom uh, so well, yeah.

Speaker 1:

So I went into the stall and there's two stalls in the stall next to me. There's some weird noises coming from that stall and I wasn't quite sure what's going on. But uh, so then you know, just sitting there do my duty and and uh and this other day this other.

Speaker 1:

This other guy comes walking in and he's on the phone and he is starts laughing and the guy in the stall next to me starts going and the guy on the phone said what the fuck? And uh. And then he left and turned off the lights in the bathroom to mess with the guy that laughed at him in the stall. But I'm also in the bathroom in the dark with this guy next to me and I thought, oh my God, this is my kid's origin story. They're going to be like. My dad was killed in a bathroom in Boston. I took that as a kid's origin story to differ.

Speaker 1:

Oh no, I meant like like that's how I died, right, gotcha yeah. Different. Oh no, I meant like like that's how I died, right, gotcha, yeah. Uh, I got out of there as fast as I. I had. I either thought to myself, do I get out of here as fast as I can, um, or do I wait for him to leave? And I thought I'm not waiting for this guy to leave, I'm out of here, I'm getting out here, uh. So that was weird. That was a, a weird situation. That was so weird. The other one, that was kind of funny. It is funny, but also kind of it was just weird.

Speaker 1:

So one of the days, on Saturday, it was just downpour, rain, just just Awful, awful rain. And I'm in, I foolishly, because I thought to myself, oh, I can take a, I take a, I can take an uber back to my hotel. And then I thought, and I looked it up, and it was like 30 and I was like f that I can walk, I don't need an uber. I'm from wisconsin, we're, we're tougher than that. So I walked and that was stupid. I should have just got the uber, um, but anyway, as I'm walking, I can't see anything because, you know, there's rain splashing against my glasses, because it's really heavy rain, and I hear this woman start yelling help me somebody, oh my god, please, somebody, help me, help me, please, help me screaming it at the top of her lungs. Of course I'm all like, oh shit, things are gonna go down here, right, and you strapped on your black belt yeah, yeah, yeah, I was yeah I was ready to kick some ass.

Speaker 1:

Turns out she was just yelling that because she was with her friends and she wasn't wearing a jacket yeah, that's.

Speaker 3:

Uh, that's far too familiar to me for the neighborhood that I live at work in. Sorry, not that in that's.

Speaker 1:

PTSD and I gave them a dirty look and they knew that I was not happy because, I thought again, I thought this woman was being attacked.

Speaker 2:

You know something awful right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 3:

And took off the black belt, put away the numchucks and were like bitch, go find a coat. I'm sorry, I did not mean to say the B word there.

Speaker 1:

So that was, that was I don't know funny, I guess, but also kind of like are you kidding me, come on. So those are my two like funny stories of Boston. But PAX itself was amazing, was amazing. So, uh, when you go there, it is amazing how quickly they set up and how quickly they tear down that place. I cannot, I cannot. So, wednesday they're setting up, it's crazy, um, and the thing starts on Thursday. Um, but, uh, yeah, it was, it was such an amazing time.

Speaker 1:

I, like I said, got to meet some you know fabulous people. It was really, it was. It was such an amazing time. I, I like I said, got to meet some you know fabulous people. It was really. It was just really fun. I just got to hang out with people and I got to see baron baron. Baron jay from level one gaming, got to hang out like that guy, he's a funny man, he is a funny guy. So I got to hang out with him too. Um, you can call him afraid of the show. I would too. I would too. He wants to come back on the show. So, um, yeah, it was really fun. It was really a really good time. Uh, I'm gonna run through the games that I played.

Speaker 1:

Do you guys have any quick questions, though, for me of like anything like that has? I don't know? Do you have any questions about like PAX related questions? How crowded was it there? So Thursday was not bad. Sunday was really not bad at all. Friday and Saturday. Saturday was the busiest, so that was pretty crowded. Friday was pretty crowded too, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. There were a couple times. So the one thing with Pax is, obviously it's open to the public and I have appointments. I have appointments that I have to play these games. So what the PA and PAX stands for is public. Yeah, that's what it stands for.

Speaker 3:

I honestly have no idea. Oh no, it stands for Penny Arcade. No, penny, yeah, yeah. What's the X then Expo?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, our petty arcade, no penny, yeah, yeah, what's the extent of experience? Uh, expo, yeah, yeah, uh, so, uh, so, anyway. So I have all these appointments that I need to set up or not need. But I have set up and, uh, and I have to go to each, you know. I mean like I only got like 20 or 30 minutes and then I have to go to the next appointment. Well, mike, you sit back this is the back, mike and relax.

Speaker 1:

This is the uh story time for us um, so I, uh, I walk up to these places and and I'm like, hey, I'm here for an appointment, and they kick people off the game to allow me to play the game, and I feel awful when that happens, and you earned it why yeah?

Speaker 2:

I know I know you got stuff to do. They're just there to those people are just general public.

Speaker 3:

General public does not matter. I'm talking to all of you. General public, yeah, but they stay.

Speaker 1:

Whoa, whoa, they stand in line, though, for a long time, and that's what makes me feel bad, because they stand in line.

Speaker 3:

It's like going to an amusement park, and if you buy the FastPass and you get in first and you look back at the general public and go schmucks, why didn't?

Speaker 1:

you buy?

Speaker 3:

FastPass.

Speaker 1:

It was 60 bucks, drop the line. Yeah, I mean I still felt bad Schmucks, I still felt bad was a lot of really cool games there, I guess did. Did I leave the floor open? Do you guys have general? You asked about the how busy it was. Was there other general questions?

Speaker 3:

yeah, have you gotten the smell out of your head yet um, no, it wasn't that bad.

Speaker 1:

Actually that bad it was. I will say that, uh, I made sure I was one of the best smelling people there because I brought was there a contest? I bought, I bought, I well, I had duke's, duke cannon's uh, they're gonna say duke's mayonnaise, yeah, duke's mayonnaise. I put duke's mayonnaise all over my body and people are like you smell delicious people to lick you and they're like that's got twang. Yeah, that's like that's a twang. No, duke cannon's uh bay rum, which smells fantastic. You never smelled that uh guy that started started.

Speaker 3:

That company actually comes to the restaurant all the time, really.

Speaker 1:

If you see him, tell him that I love Bay Rum, the product. I'll see what I can do.

Speaker 3:

I mean, tell him that, but I'll see what I can do about other things. Oh yeah, sure, That'd be great.

Speaker 1:

So anyway. It was funny, though, because I was saying goodbye to some of my friends on Sunday, and one of them said how the hell do you smell so good after four days at a con? And I said well, it's Duke Cannon's Bayroom, that's what it is.

Speaker 2:

Does you hold it up? Yeah, Vano like that shit in front of the camera.

Speaker 1:

So that was fun. I did, I did. My son wanted some, uh, pokemon stuff, so I did stand in line for pokemon stuff for him. Uh, which I will say, I don't know anything. I mean, I know a little bit of pokemon, but I don't know a lot about pokemon. Uh, I, what I'll tell you, what I really don't know a lot of at all is esports. That it's like I told you guys a funny story about esports, right, uh? So I was eating in the cafeteria and some teenage boys were standing there and this guy comes walking up and these kids are like oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, you're some I don't know, I didn't even catch the name and he's like, yeah, and they're like oh my god, oh my god, can we get a picture taken with you?

Speaker 1:

that was like yeah, sure, yeah, it was you. It was you and they got their picture taken and everything. And then they were like, oh, I love doing that match of blah blah, blah. Oh my god, I can't you know. And I was just like I don't know who this person is. Should I know who this person is? Does that make me a bad journalist? That I don't know who?

Speaker 2:

this person is. So it's like situation that one girl at the at the airport, oh yeah with the tiktok influence

Speaker 1:

or whatever, yeah yeah yeah yeah, well, yeah, that's, that's not even I have no idea who that person was like at all, but, uh, but yeah, that was pretty funny. Um, but yeah, I, yeah, um, did you? Yes, my phil.

Speaker 3:

Another question uh, were there a lot of cosplayers.

Speaker 1:

There were tons of cosplayers, tons.

Speaker 3:

What would you say your best?

Speaker 1:

dressed cosplayer was. See, this is another thing. There's so many deep cuts that they dress up, as I don't know, some of these people. Right, I'm like oh, wow, that character. I would say there's a lot of really cool Final Fantasy characters that were dressed up Like that looked cool, like I recognize those characters but I didn't. It's hard. There's a lot of people dressed up as Ghostbusters. That was cool Because it's a new movie, you know.

Speaker 2:

I'm actually quite disappointed that I didn't get a full-on swag report. So I'm going to need to report on the swag you obtained report.

Speaker 1:

So I'm gonna.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, yeah, I'm gonna need a report on the swag you obtained, so should I do that right now? Well, you don't have to say everything, just give me your top.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I'll give you something so like uh, well, I got this really cool mat, this awesome like, like it's a like, a like when you play cards like some like like trading cards and stuff like that, like they'll put out like this, like mat that play the cards on. So that was from a company that came to play their game. Let me just pull this up here. That game was. What was that game, though? And I was really I was really worried it was going to get ruined in the rain. Actually, because I had it with me. In the rain, I thought you acquired a new friend named Matt. No, in the rain, I thought you acquired a new friend named Matt no.

Speaker 1:

In the rain. Yeah, that was from Waka Studios and the game is called Runout, so they gave me a really cool Matt. That was nice. I got a bunch of pins, lots of pins.

Speaker 1:

Pins are like a thing in PAX People love pins. Pins are like a thing in packs, like people love pins, and I never really collected pins before, except for this episode this time there, and then I put them on my lanyard for my badge, so that was cool. I got a couple of lanyards. I got some food. They brought some chocolates and some caramels, um, so I had that, um, but, like in regards to like t-shirts and bags like west, I got actually a lot more swag that in that regard than I got here. Um, but gotcha, um, and then and then and then, uh, their community manager Trina wanted to have Final Fantasy 16 stuff and, no wait, 14, whatever the online one is, and so they had a big 14 thing there. So I got the big thing that was given away this year. For clothing wise, were these like fishing hats, you know, like those like a bucket hat, like a?

Speaker 2:

bucket hat.

Speaker 1:

Those things are awesome so they have final fantasy, final fantasy bucket hat, so I got her that and a lot and two lanyards uh, those are the things that are given away for free there, um yeah so that was my swag. So then what?

Speaker 3:

did you play in packs that uh kind of rocked your role in your mind, you want me to.

Speaker 1:

You want me to run down all the games or highlight some of the top ones.

Speaker 3:

I don't know, dude, I only took the show over for one week. It's up to you again now.

Speaker 1:

Okay, okay, okay, so uh the first game, the first game I played, and when I played it I was like there's it's going to be really hard for another game to top this as one of my top games at PAX. Now, I had three awards that I gave out, and I'll go through those as well, but this is one of the games that won the awards three. So I gave out best of PAX East from the Gamers Podcast and this game. That one is called Tape to Tape. It is a hockey roguelike game, but light on the roguelike mike. So so roguelike light, yeah, roguelike light, uh, and all hand drawn. The artwork is so good and every character in the audience is all hand drawn too, which is fantastic, uh, and the nice little touch they did with this was that they put the PAX East logo on the ice rink which.

Speaker 1:

I thought was pretty dope and I said, whoa, that's a really nice touch. And they're like, yeah, we added that last night. This is Thursday and I was like you added that last night and they're like, yeah, we thought, oh, we should probably add something like that. It looks so cool, that game plays so so smooth and you can play more than one player and you can play, I think, four players on each team, so you can play up to eight players. Oh my gosh, Three versus three with a goalie. Yeah, maybe you can't play as a goalie, then I'm not sure, maybe it is only three versus three that you can play. I don't know, maybe you can't play as a goalie.

Speaker 2:

Yes, mike, maybe the gameplay style like classic night. Nhl 94 is there more like nhl hits no, like 94, it's 94 hits.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's not. It's not like, it's not like a sim, right, it's not like a simulator type game, it's more arcadey. Um, and then it's fun because your characters that you, you get one main character and then they have a special ability, um, so, like the main character I was playing, he had this ability called bullseye, so he'd hit the puck really hard and they said that, uh, if you hit it at a certain character, they would also do a header into the goal. So it's like almost like soccer, like it was, um, but if you did it to your opponents, it would just knock them out. It would just plow through them and knock them out. Okay, um, so that was really cool. Um, obviously, you have your shoulder blocks and your passes and your shots, but that was really cool.

Speaker 1:

Um, in and yeah, and, and it looked like I didn't get to play on a lot of different rinks, but it looked like they had a lot of different, unique looking ranks, uh, rinks. Uh, there was one rink also too. That it was. You played against a soccer team, so you're actually playing in on a soccer field, uh, playing hockey, which looked really funny. Um, but, yeah, this game is so like I was so impressed with this game, like it just played really well and it and it. It showed really well at PAX too, like you could tell, like people were just lining up to play that game.

Speaker 2:

Yes, mike did they say what's? Is it PC only, or is it coming to consoles?

Speaker 1:

um, I think that they I don't remember if they said that they want to bring. I don't think they have any plans right now for console play. Um, yeah, but uh, but for sure, right now it's an early access on steam right now.

Speaker 3:

Um but I would like to see the top of your head? Who developer slash?

Speaker 1:

publisher is uh, the publisher is null games and the developer is something rectangle. I can't think of the perfect rectangle or something like that. I'm not sure. I can't remember what the first, the first word is, but null games is the publisher, that for sure. I know um really good game like. I cannot wait to get my hands on that game. That game is fantastic. Um, so that was the first game that I played at pax, which was really cool. Uh, and a couple other games I'll highlight, um from day one. This is all day one. Uh, be my horde. Uh, oh, you guys will like be my horde. So that is uh, a, uh, vampire survivors type game. Be my horde yes, h-o-r-d-e.

Speaker 2:

Yes, correct, we get it. Now we understand it now be my horde.

Speaker 1:

Uh, so you play as a like a necromancer and you go around and you have to attack you. I think you have a couple characters at first and then you go and attack other characters and when they get killed you raise them from the dead and now they're part of your horde and you're trying to get a big group around you. Obviously, the more you get into the game, the more uh bigger you get yeah, the, yeah, the, the more, the more enemies you're gonna run into.

Speaker 1:

So, like you'll run into knights, you'll run into, um, like bigger knights, uh, some those dwarves with axes, and if you, if you can kill those, like, then you're gonna be set right because, like, hey, uh, because they're gonna help you more, um, I made it pretty far. So like, like, I think, uh, the record so they didn't have any bosses at this in this demo that they were playing it was just like, how long can you last? That was basically what it was, and I think the record is like I think they said one of the people on their team, uh, has a record of like 14 minutes in some odd seconds. I lasted for 13 minutes in some odd seconds. So I, I got pretty close to to the record, um, but yeah, that that was a, really that was a I. When I played that game, I was like, oh, mike and phil are gonna love this game, because this game is really fun um, is this where I see obvious question again about pc and console?

Speaker 1:

uh, again, pc right now. I don't remember if they're gonna. I know I don't know if they're going to. I know I don't know if they're going to have a console plan or not. Um, but PC right now. Um, another game that I got to play that won one of our awards, uh was, uh, let's revolution. It is from buck studio. Uh, you may know, buck studio, from spider-man into the spider-verse they're, they did the animation for that game, or that, that movie, the movies I should say oh cool yeah, uh, so this game is out now on or not, I'm not yet.

Speaker 1:

Uh, it is out on PC and then console releases are coming in April. Um and uh, this game is really, really fun I get. I just got to play the demo. Um, so basically think of Minesweeper, but fun and good. Uh, cause I hate Minesweeper. I even told them that.

Speaker 2:

No, I hate Minesweeper. I hate Minesweeper.

Speaker 1:

I told because I hate minesweeper. I even told them that, no, I hate minesweeper, I hate minesweeper. I told them that I'm like I said to them. I said I I'm sorry, I don't like minesweeper, but I love this game. But actually what I said is I don't like minecraft. And they said I think you mean minesweeper. And I paused for a minute and I said what did I say? They said you might minecraft. I'm like oh yeah, mine sweeper.

Speaker 2:

So like that either no, like that either.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so there's a king and you're in. The whole point is that you're revolting against the king, you need to defeat the king, and so there it's a. It's a grid with different blocks and there's different characters you can unlock. But you start with uh, with an, with a warrior at least that's what I played, uh in the demo and they can move like one square, either up down, left, right, and then they have special abilities and if you hit, if you move into a square that an enemy is on because enemies can only be on uh roads uh, if you run into the one of the, they're on the uh.

Speaker 1:

If you run into enemy, that's on a road that you lose a heart, and you obviously only have so many hearts, um, but the way you can avoid that is by doing attacks, and so you might land on a square that says that there are six road pieces around you and then you're like, well, I'm probably gonna want to do attack, like you can do a roundhouse kick. It does, takes all the spaces around you and if there's an enemy on one of those roads, it takes out that enemy, um, and then you can find shops or you can find other things that can make your character more powerful or learn new techniques and things like that. I did ask them. I said you know, obviously the animation is fantastic and the gameplay is very good too. I asked them how long was this game in development? For how long do you think a game like that was in development for Mike? I'll give you.

Speaker 2:

I'm going gonna go six years just because that's where I'm at right now with my that's where my tolerance caps off okay phil, I was gonna say six months, just because I was prepared to have my socks knocked off.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, 18 months, damn it. Yeah, all right. Yeah, uh, that is super fast. And they said that one of the things that was really impressive for them was, uh, they would give, uh, they would, you know, say, hey, animation folks, we need x, y and z. And they said, normally we would expect it done in like a month or two. There's like a couple days and like, here you go and they're like holy crap because, because they're just so used to pumping out animation as part of the studio, such a great game, um, it's out on pc right now. It's coming out on console in april. Um, like I said, I got to play the demo at pax and it was really fun, it was really good, so that was cool. Um, let me look at some other of the highlights from day one. Uh, astral duel 2. This game is out right now. It just released actually when it's also on xbox maybe.

Speaker 3:

Uh, pc is that the space like shooter. That's pretty, and I mean this with no malice um geometry wars looking um, I don't know if it's geometry wars, I would.

Speaker 1:

I wouldn't say that it's more like smash brothers, but oh yeah, not at all the game I was thinking of. Okay, uh, so the. So you battle against other people. I think you can play up to eight people, I'm not 100, sure? Um, so you battle against other people and, uh, it's, it's based on how many kills you get, and then you'll move, like your ship moves so many spaces, and then, once that moves all the way across to the finish line, you win, right.

Speaker 1:

So I don't know, I think there's like eight spaces and you battle against other people and, what's cool, the first battle you fight, there's different places you can go to, so, like you really mix and match whatever you want, but the one, the first one we played at, was just space battles. So you're in spaceships and you can pick what spaceship you want and each one has their own special abilities, and then you shoot against each other and fight against each other. If your ship gets destroyed, your little character is just floating out in space and if you can last long enough, your ship will regenerate and you can get, you can back into your ship. Um, but that's really hard to do uh.

Speaker 3:

And then there's also the game that I'm thinking of but then there's also like stylistically, loves like john jr, we're sorry to cut you off at the no.

Speaker 1:

No, it's okay uh, it's like, it's looks like, it looks very retro, like, yeah, okay, um. And then there's also levels where you are playing as your little character and you're on like a, uh, like a, like a base type thing and you can find different weapons for that character and you could fight in that. But then you can jump out of those bases into your spaceship, fly around and shoot. It's so fun. So you play solo. You can play as teams uh, we, we. When we played as teams, my team won. No, no, thanks to me.

Speaker 1:

I kind of just you know, didn't really do much, but uh, oh, my gosh, that game. That game was really fun and that had a lot of people going to it because, again, it played really well in front of a bunch of people, because you can play it as a big group, it was very cool. Um, so that was a cool game. Uh, let's see. Um, uh, balladins is a very cool rpg, uh story type game. Um, where it has loop mechanics, so you have different quests, you have to go on and um, you, the artwork is very paper mario it looks very much like paper mario and uh, and you have to do this different quest and, uh, you only have so many days and if you don't complete the quest in so many days which is pretty hard to do, and the demo only allows you to go through one day or I shouldn't say one day one loop, but at the end of the loop, a dragon comes and is like, what are you doing? Blah, blah, blah. Like you woke me up and now I'm going to send you back in time and you said back in time, and then you have to do everything all over, but now you have knowledge of, like, what happened the first loop, um, but you know, I didn't get to play a second. I'm setting it to really see how that played out, but it was really cool. It was a cool concept. I liked that game. Uh, so that was balladins. That one is coming to pc, maybe consoles as well.

Speaker 1:

I they said that I'm not sure I went to. This is cool. I went to see Dungeon Dragons online. Dungeon Dragons online panel Made me want to go play Dungeon Dragons right after. There was more about they talked about how they create monsters and what was fun about that that well, how they create monsters for the online game, right. And so then I actually got as a member of press.

Speaker 1:

I actually got to ask them a bunch of questions afterwards, and one of the questions I asked was you know, you talked a lot about how the books influence the game. Has there been where the game influenced the books? And they said actually there has. There was an area that has mentioned their books but has never meant. But it was never really there's, never fleshed out. So they actually had to do a lot of fleshing out for the game because they wanted to make this area for people to explore, and um and uh, they said that. Then, after that happened. The books were like, well, we want to, uh, now flesh that out a little bit more now too, because we're gonna take your material you made. So it was really cool.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, the other cool thing that I asked about was, uh, because this game's been around for like 20 years this, the dnd online um and they talked about, um, how they just just created this new dragon and how, like the dragon mechanics now, like they've really got down to this really cool science where a dragon might be smashing your, at your, your friends, and then turns its head and looks at your character, right. And I asked the question about, like is it difficult because, like, once you come up with a new mechanic and you start coming up with new stuff, right, like your old stuff now is going to feel old? Like, do you have to go back and update that? And they said, sometimes we do, but sometimes we just leave it alone. Like they have this one really big giant dragon that they created early in the game. But they said we spent so much time on that thing that if we were to mess with it it would like break, and we can't do that, obviously. But they said, but it still looks really good because we spent so much time on it in the beginning of the game that it doesn't look or feel old because they spent some more time. But now, because they have new technology, they can actually spend a lot of more time on um, uh, on or not less time, I should say because now they've, like, built mechanics around it. It's like we can use the dragon mechanic to build new monsters and things like that. So that's cool.

Speaker 1:

Um, that was day one. Wow, that's a lot of day one, uh, day two, um, uh, I got to play another game that won our award, so I think there's all three of them there at this point. Uh, this one is called world with grim. Uh, if you've ever played marvel snap, it is marvel snap. Mike, have you played marvel snap?

Speaker 2:

no, I have another rant about marvel after today's news, if you want fucking marvel watch.

Speaker 1:

Um, well, I'll talk about world of grim. So moral the grim is a card deck builder type game, um, and it's not as grindy as Marvel Snap. I played a lot of Marvel Snap and what the premise is that you have your cards and there's three lands that open up and you have to. You play against one opponent and you're trying to get as many points on each land. If you can control two or three lands after six turns, you win. So I loved that game a lot.

Speaker 1:

I actually went back and played like after after I, that was day two, on day four I went back. I'm like, I'm just, I have some time, can I just hang out and play this game? And they're like, yeah, absolutely. So that game is really fun and the artwork is really cool. It's all it's free to play. So you can play on steam right now.

Speaker 1:

Uh, this is not coming to consoles, but they did talk about that. They have plans to come to uh mobile as well. But the cool, cool thing about this game is that they also want they also are making a or I shouldn't say they are making they want to make a physical copy of this game so you can actually play this, uh with your friends physically as well. It was really really cool. So that was. That was really fun. And, uh, the people that made the game are really cool too. So that is uh, from static city games and the game is called world of grim, uh.

Speaker 1:

And then, um, let's see, uh, I went to the warframe panel. That's where I saw ben star. Um, I went to atari's booth and hung out with them for a while and got to play some. They gave me oh, that was another they gave me a little pong pin because it was my pong shirt and they thought that was pretty cool. So they're like like here, have a pump in. I got to play Neo Sprint there and that is a racing game, it's a sprint. It was an old Atari game and then it came out with Neo Sprint. It plays a lot like, if you ever played. Well, you guys have RC Pro-Am or Super Off-Road.

Speaker 2:

I love RC Pro-Am.

Speaker 1:

You guys are going to love this game because it's both of this game is just, it's like. It's like that game. I think they said you can play up to six people at one time. It's fun because you can, you know, pick different cars and then you can get different. You unlock different skins for the cars, which are different games, atari games. It looks in place really well. At least the demo I played. I shouldn't say it's like it's not out yet, um, but uh, that one was really good. Um, that was day two. Uh, and then day three, um, let's see, um, I played. Um, the uh. Well, I played. I played this game. That was, uh, it is called death bound. Um, it is a.

Speaker 1:

When they described it to me, they said it's a souls like. I'm like. Okay, I'm not gonna probably like this game because I don't like souls like games, but they're like. Well, it's a souls like, but not a souls like and it is not like. I would not call this a souls like like.

Speaker 1:

I can understand why there's some elements of souls like to it, but what it is is you are your characters really are. You get four different characters that you can select and if one character is getting hurt. You can swap them out like instantly for a different character. Um, and each character plays a little bit differently. There's like a magician, there is a uh. There's like a special martial, like a brazilian martial artist, capoeira martial artist. Um. There's like a traditional knight and then there's like this kind of like a thief type character nice thief slash knight type character at least a little four that I played with. I think maybe there's more they can play with um, but that was really cool. The. The scenery was just amazing, like the, the level design and everything was really cool. Um, and the gameplay played really well. Um, and I enjoyed it and I think I did pretty well because I beat like two major big creatures, like there's big things.

Speaker 1:

I beat both of them nice so it makes me feel like it plays. I don't like souls like I, just, I just don't I don't like souls like oh souls like games either yeah, but that's what I liked.

Speaker 1:

So I was like, don't call it a soul slayer, because this is that kind of turned me off until I played. I'm like, no, actually I like this game. So, uh, that was called Deathbound. There's a couple other games too on that day, but for the sake of time I'm going to skip into day four. And day four oh, I got to meet with Midwest Games. They're out of Green Bay, which is very, very cool. Oh, I got to meet with midwest games. They're out of green bay, which is very, very cool. Uh, major nelson is actually one of their um, uh consultants. Uh, for for it. So that was very cool.

Speaker 1:

And the game I played there was called rah rah boom. It is a side scroller. Beat them up. Uh, the animation is fantastic. It uh plays a lot like turtles or any any side kind of side scrolling games. But, um, really really cool uh game. That was a cool game. That was called rara boom and uh. And then my last game I'll mention here is oh gosh, I love this so much.

Speaker 1:

Uh, the creators of uh, magic the gathering, or one of the creators, magic the gathering, and uh, another gentleman came out, this game called soul forge and I was gonna look I don't have the box with me, um, but it's a, it's a deck builder, so you can buy physical cards, uh, and. But what's cool about this game is that then you can scan your physical cards so you can play them online as well, because there's gonna be an online element and a physical card. That's pretty cool, isn't that cool? Yeah, and then what's gonna happen is you can. So I bought, I bought a box, I wanted to, oh, they're, oh, they gave me such a great deal, and I'm like, oh, I can't, I can't buy.

Speaker 1:

They gave me a good deal on the, on the starter, and like we'll tell you what you throw in a bunch of, uh, other packs, booster packs as well, and this is like retails, like 200, I'll get it to you for 80, and I'm like, I don't think I would love to, I really would, but I, I, I just have to buy the base game right now. Um, I was kicking myself. I should have bought it. I should have bought it. I was so mad at myself for not sure.

Speaker 2:

If you reached out to them, they'll probably cut the same offer yeah, but uh, so that was really cool and I was excited.

Speaker 1:

I'm excited to play that with oliver um because it's super easy to pick up and play um and, unlike magic, the gathering like magic's okay, but this game was like super fast. But what's cool about this is, like I said, you can scan the cards. They go into your on your deck, on your uh, on your game on the computer, and then what they're planning to do is have campaigns online that you can play in and then also faction battles, like there'll be different battles and different things that are happening and based on, like, the outcomes of that, like we'll drive, what kind of cards might come out next or what might happen, like oh my gosh.

Speaker 1:

I was just like, well, like I said, I said to the gentleman I met um, his name is justin I said why hasn't anybody thought of this before? This is like a brilliant idea. And he's like, yeah, right, and he paused. He was like I know why. Because this was technically really difficult. This wasn't an easy thing to do. And I'm like, yeah, I suppose, I suppose that does make sense.

Speaker 3:

He's like, yeah, it's like Mike's fantasy baseball idea.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

So it's good in concept. Yeah, good in concept. This game, I love it. This is such a cool game.

Speaker 1:

I didn't get to play the card game yet with my son. I just such a cool game. Uh, I didn't get to play the card game yet with my son. I just got back from packs. So it's like, uh, it's been pretty busy, but those, those are plenty of time. Yeah, uh, that was the highlight of of the packs. Um, yeah, I, I covered a lot, uh, at packs.

Speaker 1:

Uh, I will say this I brought magic mine. I'm so glad I brought my magic mind with me, because I would have been so worn out and so tired, uh, but with the magic mind, at least I was able to keep going throughout the day and I wasn't, I didn't feel like the jitters from coffee had to drink all the coffee, right, and also, uh, allowed me to go back and, like, start to organize my thoughts and think through things. Um, so, yeah, I, I was like, should I bring my magic mind? I'm like, no, I should, because this is, this is gonna be really, really difficult if I don't, and I'm so glad I did so. Uh, thank you to the folks at magic mind because, seriously, that would have been, that would have been awful without it. So, um, so yeah.

Speaker 2:

That was my packs. Sounds like it was quite the experience.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and then one last thing I'll say was got back home and we flew in on Monday. We drove, we drove up to my parents' place, cause that's where my kids were staying, and then we drove home from there. We didn't get home until like 10, 30 at night or so, uh, and then the next morning my daughter had a mario kart tournament at a ticket and participate in uh. I I won the first round. Uh wins a win, take it, I know and which then advanced me as a buy. I got a buy to the third round, uh, and I think there was like, I think he said what, 64 players in this tournament? Wow, yeah, um, and the two people.

Speaker 1:

So then, after, so the first round, uh, it was double elimination, well, kind of double. What were you playing on? Well, that was the fun thing. Uh, they had different stations and it was just random what station you might get to. So they had n64, they had uh game cube, they had a wii, they had a couple wii's, they had a couple switches, um, so you're playing a mix of all those types of games and, uh, so the first one I played on I didn't think I was going to do well was N64.

Speaker 1:

Uh, and what was really funny was cause I, my wife, was like, sure, so you beat three kids. I'm like actually, uh, cause it's four people at the table and I said, actually I didn't beat kids, they're all adults. Actually, at that one it was like a bunch of teachers and me and uh, and there was one kid I should say there was one high school kid too. And so the way it would work is if you in the first round, if you won, so four races, you would race four races and you got so many points for each win. If you got whatever place you got, and if you won, then you get an automatic buy to the third round. But if you lost or if you came in second, third or fourth, you'd have to play in the third round. But if you lost and you, or then if you came in second, third or fourth, you'd have to play in the second round.

Speaker 1:

So I, I, I advanced to the third round because I beat everybody. I was like, oh, like holy crap, yeah, please, but yeah, then then the next round, the third round, I played and I lost. Then they only allowed the first two people first and second place to move on, and I will say the two people that were on my bracket came in first and third overall, so it wasn't like you know. So I was like, okay, that was like kind of like a stacked I, it was stacked against me and they were really really good and I, yeah, but that was fun. It was fun to hang out with my daughter and she won uh, not the no kidding, not the tournament. She won, uh, a costume. They also have a trophy for the best dressed costume and she went as a shy guy and uh, and she won and she was so ecstatic and so happy that's awesome.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that was pretty cool. So she won a trophy for that and she was just over the top thrilled. So that was uh, that was everything. Yeah, do you want to go quickly through? I mean, I'm not going to talk about games, I'm playing because I played, I pretty much did. Yeah, mike, do you want to talk about games that you're playing?

Speaker 2:

You can. I actually just posted a review on gamer heads podcastcom.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah.

Speaker 2:

So you can check out my review for the uh vr game paint the town red vr yeah, and I didn't check it out yet no, I gave it a b. You know it wasn't bad. It took. It took really. It took me a while to get used to it because, man, that that motion sickness really hit me hard in that one. Yeah, I'm not gonna lie it did me it.

Speaker 2:

Did me it for me as well, mike, though yeah, but there's, you get used to it and there's other options available. So, like you could do, like that snap movement and stuff, um, it's total chaos.

Speaker 1:

It's just like it's a big bar brawl, that going on around literally and I mean that literally, because there's a bar, it's one of the stages.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they're really uh, but there's some different options, but it's basically, it is what it is. It's just, it's just a, just a stupid. I'm gonna say stupid in terms of not a bad thing like stupid in terms of mindless uh, just mindless violence. Whatever you can pick up, you can bash other bash the npcs to bits with them.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that sounds awesome yeah it's a lot of fun, like it's just you, just like you go, walk around, everything's fine, and then, once you throw that, first punch or once you pick up a pool cue, smash it over someone's face, or or uh, and then like it actually and and the graphics are like similar to minecraft yeah, I guess I'm out but but it's very bloody like there's there's like you could take off like corners of their skull. Yeah, you know, it's just like it's. Yeah, it gets, it gets pretty up, but it's it's cartoonish, uh wacky violence.

Speaker 1:

So I guess that that makes it more acceptable um, my favorite, mike, did you play in the bar where there's a band playing? And yeah, so there's a big fight going on, the band's still playing. And then I went up to them and I grabbed their guitar and smashed them and I was taking the cymbals and smashing people, the cymbals.

Speaker 2:

That was so fun yep, yeah, so it's a good like stress relief and it's a good workout too yeah, it is uh, but you that's, it's, I mean that's. And then there's, like other modes, that there's like arena mode, where it's like literally like a, an arena, and you just got to survive, wave after wave like horde mode.

Speaker 3:

If you're in horde mode exactly what it is.

Speaker 2:

There's also a roguelike mode, um that, where it's not just people that you're fighting against, like zombies and monsters, things like that. So there's quite a few options for being a 20 game, yeah, um, but if you're just like looking to just just mindlessly waste some time and de-stress, definitely worth it. Check it out at gamerheadspodcastcom.

Speaker 1:

I was going to say where did you? Where can we find that?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, gamerheadspodcastcom and that's paint the town red, vr, nice. Other than that, I played some more MLB the show, as you know, because I posted my score last night where and this is, I love this. So I first I was like and I asked Phil because Phil's our resident expert on the show Like is there like a retro mode, kind of like an RBI baseball mode, something that somebody that like me, that that only likes a relaxed version of baseball, and feels like, yeah, they've got that there and I played it and I'm like this is horrible, the, the like the rbi baseball mode? I'm like like, okay, good, I, I like a baseball game that gets back to basics, but this is way too basic.

Speaker 2:

I'm like this this almost looks like a $1.99 game on the eShop.

Speaker 3:

Why didn't you ever assign me that game?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I know. Well, no, because no. That's what I'm saying, that's what it feels like.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I would have played trash-ass baseball for $1.99.

Speaker 2:

So I went in and I did just a regular exhibition game and then I found out that there's local co-op, which I don't know about you guys, but I'm not very competitive.

Speaker 2:

So I prefer a co-op game over one on one. So my son and I were playing and you can customize the local co-op so he would pitch for one inning and then I would pitch for the other inning. But when it came to, and he was in field the entire time and I was outfield the entire time, and then whenever we were up to bat, we chose to switch. Every time there was a new batter so he would go and then I would go, he would go and I would, and we we were, we were cracking.

Speaker 2:

Oh, of course, we played it on the easiest setting and we won 57 to nothing it's a massacre we were just, we were just did you get the achievement yes, uh, 28, you have to get 28, nothing, yep, yeah, uh, I got a grand slam, that was fun. But yeah, and that's the thing, the achievements in the game are fun too. They're challenging but, they're fun. It's really tough to hit a triple.

Speaker 1:

Well, when you're the White Sox when you're the.

Speaker 3:

White Sox Well no, because there should be a couple of speedy people on that team, at least somebody that's got like a rock solid 80 on speed.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, on that team At least somebody that's got like a rock solid 80 on speed. But we got it. But the thing is we hit 54 home runs, all right. So we weren't playing no small ball, we were.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, you got a gap one. Was that all in the first inning? No, I think the most we had were 13 home runs in one inning Okay runs or just runs home runs holy hell it's crazy that's just abuse yeah there's no mercy law.

Speaker 1:

There's no mercy rules in this game or what?

Speaker 3:

no, it's, it's. There's no mercy in the majors.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's true well, we're talking about realistic baseball.

Speaker 1:

I forgot, sorry. 57 and nothing.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's realistic so I I'm really enjoying. Did you play against something? What happened there? What was? Going on we played against mary school for the blog. Yeah, this is mrs stevenson's uh third grade recess. No, we played against, we played against the tigers.

Speaker 1:

But again it was on.

Speaker 2:

It was on casual, easiest rookie settings yeah, also, we didn't use it but we also did it on the casual controls, like where it's, you're just pressing one button. Yeah, choose a contact hit or a regular hit, like you don't have to move the cursor around to try to predict where the ball's gonna be, um, yeah, so I I'm really enjoying the game um mlb, the show 24. My first time playing a show game oh, I'm liking it. I'm enjoying it. Uh, other than that I haven't been playing anything.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

That's all.

Speaker 1:

I got Nice, what about?

Speaker 3:

you, phil. I too have been playing MLB the Show. Wow, shockering, I can't believe it. A whole lot of surprise there. It's my first time in 12 hours touching the show. Yeah, I play a lot of the show. Diamond Odyssey team looks sweet. I like a lot of the show. Diamond Odyssey team looks sweet. I like a lot of the changes that have been made to the game which we discussed last week that nobody will ever hear because Mike and I are just NPCs in Roger's world and real quick and real brief. Most of the changes have been very visual to the entire thing, as far as things like catchers not actually calling pitches via signal, doing them via pitch the communicator that they were on their wrist and in their ears these days. Oh, is that true? I didn't know that. Yeah, man, that's a real thing.

Speaker 1:

I didn't know that.

Speaker 3:

They do it both in real life and in MLB the show, which is kind of cool that they no longer have people flashing the two, three, tap the inside of the leg. It's just pressing of a couple of buttons on a wristband that a quarterback would wear in the NFL.

Speaker 1:

Weird.

Speaker 3:

It's how they do a lot of it because there was too much pitch stealing happening.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3:

Now catchers just do it that way. Pitch clock violations are still there. I would take my running total up to about 40 of them, because I just don't pay attention when the transition happens and sometimes I respond to text messages, twitter messages yeah whatever.

Speaker 3:

Um, one thing I give a lot of credit to this game for and I didn't mention this in the show that will never air is they did a derrick jeter storyline in this, and I'm not a big derrick jeter fan, I'm not a big yankees fan, but they handled this thing super, super well. Where you start off playing, it's only through the first like five years of his career, through 96 to 2000, but they handle it very well as far as the storytelling and playing through the moments go. And which point you unlock a bunch of different cards for your diamond dynasty team that are all yankees related, of course, but, like some of the instances will unlock different camera angles as soon as you make contact with the ball where, like, it changes up and kind of goes cinematic, where it's really well done and they tell the stories behind a lot of the instances as well.

Speaker 3:

Only takes a couple hours complete, but the rewards are there. Uh, again, it's me. I'm gonna love this show, no matter what they do, unless they absolutely fuck some stuff up. Seriously, sorry for the language, but it's kind of my jam and yeah, I've played a lot of that over the course of last week because it's what I go to. Like Mike said, the achievements are challenging enough, but not super challenging and heady. I think I'm at 800 out of 1,000 right now as far as achievements go, if not just shy of 800, because they can all be easily accumulated throughout the course of a game. A couple of them are a little bit longer. Like Mike's scoring, what did you say?

Speaker 3:

It's 36 runs, runs 54 yeah, but what's the achievement pop out oh, the 22, 28.

Speaker 3:

You have to win by 28 yep, so 28 like that one's a lengthy one, as well as throwing a nine game or nine inning complete game with less than 100 pitches is also a tough one to get to. And there's one other one that's also, I don't remember, off the top of my head, it's a little bit more difficult, which are going to take some grinding to get to. And there's one other one that's also, I don't remember, off the top of my head, it's a little bit more difficult, which are going to take some grinding to get to, especially for myself, that only plays three diamond, diamond dynasty games. I would have to switch modes, which I'm not necessarily opposed to. Oh, base is loaded, nobody out, strike out the side is also one of the achievements. It's also a tougher one too, um, but again, I love Mike.

Speaker 2:

I was able to unlock the 100 pitches achievement by playing in the garbage. Rbi classic baseball retro, really yes.

Speaker 3:

All right, I might have to snipe that one from you if that's an option.

Speaker 2:

Otherwise, maybe we can try playing online against each other, and then maybe you can beat me and I'll just you know, I, I'll just sit there and fall asleep and then you just throw it don't be a lot closer.

Speaker 3:

You think, like it's one of the many, many games in my life that I say I should be better at this, for how much time I spend on it. Like I say with overwatch almost daily as well, like why do I suck so bad at this game? I should be good at this. With how much time I spend with it. Um, so yeah, I played a lot of the show, played a lot of. Uh, I have not picked back up against spongebob battle for bikini bottom, rehydrated since the show came out, as much as I would like to continue that. Maybe I won't do that tomorrow because I'm going to spend all day watching baseball, but I'll do that throughout the course of this week and wrap that up. Also super close to wrapping up alan wake 2 and just have not dove back into that same with dead Island 2. Like I've got three games that are just on the cusp of being finished that I don't necessarily want to finish but should finish.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's what I've been playing have either of you, because I think South Park Snow Days came out right. Didn't it just come out?

Speaker 2:

it did I have not touched it yet, okay there's I've actually got on my. There's somebody that I watch on youtube who has a channel. He's doing his own review of it. So, um, I've heard mixed things about it.

Speaker 1:

It's a short game, but I don't know because last time and when we talked about it before it came out, we're all three of us are like what is this game?

Speaker 2:

like what is? I still don't know what is the whole point of it yeah, uh, I'll just mention this real quick.

Speaker 1:

Uh, while I was in boston, my wife and I both brought our switches with us and uh, oh, please, uh, and we played some dr mar, dr mario against each other. I will put, I'll put my wife against anybody to play Dr Mario, because she is really good. I can't beat her, I can't, I can't. Well, I beat her once it was. So we have we have a rule. The rule is that you, you know, you start at level zero and then if you win like all three rounds, then you get to. You have to level up one and like, my wife is like at level like 10, and I'm not like level two, and then I'll start winning. So I guess it's not really beating her because she's still way, way. But man, there was times where she's throwing junk at me and I'm like, how are you throwing junk at me? This game just started and she just sits there and laughs like she thinks it's really funny, because it's like literally like three things in there's junk throwing at me. I'm like, are you kidding me? I barely got anything down. Um, but she's really good at the game. And then the other thing I'll just mention real quick is. I played some nes golf because that's on. Uh, it's not bad.

Speaker 1:

I like that game a lot. That's that I would say. Oh, not nes golf, um, sorry, the mario golf on on the nes um, which I think is the best. My my, I think it's actually still one of the best mario games out there. Mario golf on on the nes um, which I think is the best. My my, I think it's actually still one of the best mario games out there. Mario golf games um, I got a hole in one. Nice, yeah, I was like that was the first time I ever got a hole in one on that game. I played that game a lot on the. But did I say, did I say nes? I meant game boy.

Speaker 2:

I'm sorry it's on the game boy color game change your mind like six times I meant to say game boy color game.

Speaker 1:

Uh, I've been pga 2k 20, that's what I meant. Uh, yeah, no, it's a game boy color game and I got a hole in one and I was very proud because I played a lot of that game when it first came out. Um, because it's an rpg type game too and you can level up your character, so it's really. It's really a good, good golf game I like that.

Speaker 3:

Did you get an achievement for it?

Speaker 1:

So anyway, that does the show.

Speaker 3:

I did also play some PGA 2K23 this week against our friends of the show. Kyle and Carrington Played some PGA against them, absolutely whooped their ass, because that's what I do and I wish they had bigger butts so that way I could whoop it even harder and bigger and faster. But they don't. Tiny butted bastards okay, all right.

Speaker 1:

Uh, that is the end of our show, though, before we head out, uh, why don't we tell people how they can find us? Mike, how can people find you?

Speaker 2:
