Speaker 3Salutations Welcome back guys.
Speaker 1Where were we? Oh, that's right.
Speaker 2I was on the show last week.
Speaker 3Oh yeah, that's right.
Speaker 1Yes, that's what it was.
Speaker 3I was busy trying not to be kidnapped by Mothman and Roger. Yes, you know what. Just save your life and hide from the Mothman, that's right.
Speaker 1That's right. Yeah, welcome back. A lot has happened since you left. What happened? Come back. I mean, there was the IDX box showcase.
Speaker 3That sounds made up that what it's real. That sounds made up Right. Oh, I think you made it up Mike.
Speaker 2There was a showcase, there were several showcases. There were actually there were two actually, I think two.
Speaker 3There was two.
Speaker 2Multiple showcases.
Speaker 3Yes From Xbox.
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 3Oh, is the other one from that company. That doesn't count.
Speaker 2Which is no, they already did theirs. Good, I think.
Speaker 3Did.
Speaker 1I have to talk about it, which one.
Speaker 2Limiter run games. Oh, that's right, that's right.
Speaker 1So yeah, I forgot about that. They had a show as well. Yes, Was it delayed for an hour or a year and a half to. Oh snap, no, it was on time. Did you catch it, Mike?
Speaker 2Which one the Limiter Run games.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2I watched a few of the announcements. I know some of the announcements so I can give you a quick, long and short of it.
Speaker 1Yeah, why don't you start there? What is?
Speaker 3All of those words just disagreed with each other. Mike, that was fantastic. Do it again.
Speaker 2I have no idea what's going on. We're doing great. We're right back where we started.
Speaker 1Yeah, exactly, it feels like we never had a week off.
Speaker 3There's a week off.
Speaker 1No, not really.
Speaker 2You know what gets on my nerves.
Speaker 1Oh no, oh no, here we go.
Speaker 3When I get stuck in a time space continuum, I'm not sure what's going on.
Speaker 2Yes, that sucks. Unless it's happy death day because that was a good movie.
Speaker 1Oh yeah.
Speaker 2But anyways, Ed Boone was posting on Twitter that from Australia where they just started filming Mortal Kombat 2. And guess what's happening tomorrow?
Speaker 1I don't know.
Speaker 2They're striking.
Speaker 1Oh, that's right.
Speaker 2Yeah, actors are striking.
Speaker 1That's right.
Speaker 2So now the movie's going to be delayed, and I'm mad.
Speaker 1Wow, yeah, I didn't know that they were filming Mortal Kombat 2, actually.
Speaker 2Yeah, it's a movie.
Speaker 3When you said Ed Boone, I thought of Ed Gein. I was like what the hell is Ed Gein doing on Twitter? Well then, I would laugh.
Speaker 1Why is he still alive, or that'd be my question.
Speaker 3I just started laughing because I got really confused.
Speaker 2You're not too far off on Mortal Kombat.
Speaker 3That's true.
Speaker 2Yeah, what else is making me angry?
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2I thought there was something else. Oh, this whole thing with Activision and Microsoft.
Speaker 1Just let it end. Already it is done.
Speaker 2It's done. No, because now the FTC won't let it be.
Speaker 1They won't.
Speaker 2No, I thought they did. I thought, they did, mike, thanks, really, it is, thank you, Thank you.
Speaker 1No, I thought that was over. Hey, let me tell you something.
Speaker 2No, they're appealing.
Speaker 1No wait, hold on Mike. In my mind it's over. That whole thing is ended. That's done. I read the news yesterday that they dismissed the whole case and it's out, and that's it. That's it, that's it.
Speaker 2That's the end Right, yeah, they appealed, and now the head of the. Ftc went in front of Congress and just got railed as to what a terrible job she's doing.
Speaker 1But why is Activision Blizzard the line in the sand? That's the part I don't understand. They're gobbling up all these other studios and it's like oh, Activision Blizzard. Maybe I'm just not following it enough, but I feel like this is overreach, yeah.
Speaker 2There's a lot of like well, see, now you're in my camp here where it's making me mad, I know because I thought it was over.
Speaker 1Now I am mad. You know what else makes me mad?
Speaker 2This isn't even about games anymore. I'm just going to just go off on things that are working me today.
Speaker 2I go to my comic book store and I get my box and my comic book store is always doing this. They're putting every single comic that's related to the ones I want. I like the Ninja Turtles ongoing, so they put in Turtles ongoing and then they put in Turtles and Usagi-Ojumbo and they put in Turtles some kind of future mini series and they put in Ninja Turtles Cross Over with Stranger Things. I'm like this is like 12?
Speaker 1Wait what yeah? In your poll box they put all that stuff in there for you, yeah because it's Turtles.
Speaker 2I have questions.
Speaker 1But you didn't ask for those no.
Speaker 2So I said can you please put on those cards? Ongoing only.
Speaker 3Did the guy cop net it with you when you tried to return them?
Speaker 2or Gal, no, no, no he was cool, I didn't pay for them.
Speaker 3Oh see man, I wish my comic store did that.
Speaker 2I just grabbed the comics and ran out of there. Didn't even pay for them. I didn't pay for them, I just bolted no, no no, they were cool. I put them back on the shelf, but I feel bad because they sat in my box for a week or two and then that lessens the chance of somebody else getting it.
Speaker 3Well, yeah, smell, lose keepers please.
Speaker 2So now I'm mad at myself.
Speaker 1How did we get there?
Speaker 3Oh, that Turtles you, Jimbo comics going for like $55 on eBay too, Mike.
Speaker 2Oh really no, I made that part up just to try to get you going?
Speaker 1OK, anyway. Limited run games.
Speaker 2Limited run games. They they announced a whole bunch of games that are going to be going up for sale, some of which include the Jurassic Park collection, which is the Nintendo, Super Nintendo and Game Boy Jurassic Park games.
Speaker 1That's cool.
Speaker 2Not the good one the Sega. Genesis one. They're also announced the Castlevania Advance collection is going to be is going to be up for sale. All the Ninja Turtles game soundtracks are going to be released on vinyl, cd and cassette. Oh so all the, the, obviously the game, so I might get. I might get Turtles in time. I don't really get gaming vinyls or anything like that, but yeah, turtles in time Come on.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's good.
Speaker 2What else? Something about plumbers? Don't wear ties, oh wait what. Yeah, they're releasing plumbers. Don't wear ties.
Speaker 3What's? Plumbers don't wear ties. They're not being a jackass right now, no no, no, it's OK, it's.
Speaker 2it's like one of the worst 3D games. Well, there are a lot of bad three. One of the worst games ever made it's. It was on 3DO. It was one of those FMV movies where you like, you watch the movie and then you like choose the next path, or something like that Got it. It was horribly acted.
Speaker 1What's what's that coming to, though?
Speaker 2So switch, switch yeah yeah, xbox and PlayStation 3DO, the 4DO, the 4DO Virtual boy. Um then there's. What else did they announce? They announced shoot. I wish I had.
Speaker 1Or shine.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, a new shanty. Oh, they're finishing.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Way forward is finishing production on a shanty game that they were building for the Game Boy Advance and they're releasing it for the Game Boy Advance.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's cool.
Speaker 2So limited run is doing that with them. Oh, the Gex trilogy is coming out. And then there's another game out that that is like a spiritual successor to the the Zelda 3DO game. The enemy like the enemy one, yeah.
Speaker 1The bad one, you mean.
Speaker 2Yeah, but they're making it good, that's the new one. But it's not Zelda, it's. It's obviously Nintendo would like. That's buried way deep in the vault with the Ark of the Covenant. So Nintendo wouldn't let them do that. So, yeah, so they did that and they, they announced several other games Nothing, you know. In my opinion, some, some interesting stuff. I'll you know, I'll get the Castlevania one, maybe the Jurassic Park, um, probably the Gax one.
Speaker 3I'm intrigued by the Gax games. I'm not, yeah.
Speaker 1Wasn't that a Sega right Gax?
Speaker 2Gax, no, that was PlayStation 3. Playstation 3. Oh no you know, I'm thinking of.
Speaker 1What was that? That pond, James Pond.
Speaker 2James Pond yeah.
Speaker 1Huh, interesting. So yeah, that was, that was cool. The other event that happened was the ID at Xbox. Is it ID at Xbox showcase?
Speaker 2Sure, we'll call it that.
Speaker 1Yeah, why not?
Speaker 2Sorry, roger, I'm trying to hurry up. You really spent a lot of the first 10 minutes so kind of blabbing about stuff totally unrelated, so I'm just trying to keep it going.
Speaker 1That reminds me very much of Tenaecious D Skit, so so yeah, they had a lot of games that they, that they announced that are coming out. So anyway, I thought I mean we talked about this a little bit off air, but I think before we did a little bit. No, not I mean like in our you know, in our chat.
Speaker 1But next week. I mean, I think Phil and I played a couple of demos, but next week we can talk more about more demos that we've been playing, because there's a lot of demos out. So now I'm not talking about the demos, no, you can talk about the demos and then talk about the demos.
Speaker 2Yeah, sure, everybody can talk about the demos I didn't play any demos.
Speaker 3Well then you can Just make stuff up, like I do half the time.
Speaker 1So yeah, I mean, I guess go check it out. There was, I guess. Mike, you saw the the showcase. Phil, did you see the showcase?
Speaker 3No, ok, mike, you did. I clicked on it trying to find the demos to download and sort of playing. It sent me over to YouTube and I went that's not the right button. And then I started vigorously jamming on the B button. I have not had a sip of alcohol today. It's time.
Speaker 1Wow, no. Was there any games? Was there any games? That kind of caught your eye, though, mike?
Speaker 2Well, just that, just that one, and I myth, myth, quest, I don't know Myth quest, whatever that is, and what it was that first person Saturday morning cartoon game.
Speaker 1That's cool. Oh, it looks so good.
Speaker 2That is very excited about that one.
Speaker 1Do they have a demo for that right now in Xbox? I don't know. No, there's no demo OK there is a demo on Steam, but I thought maybe for Xbox. That game looks really cool. See, a Star is, I'm super excited for that, looks really good. And Wrestle Quest oh yeah, wrestle Quest, yeah yeah that looks cool.
Speaker 3Yeah, I put about an hour into that at this point. Yeah, but we talk about it until next week, yeah you?
Speaker 1know we can talk about it right now. Let's talk about the games we're playing, then yeah, let's move on to that segment. Games are playing. Phil, what games are you playing?
Speaker 3None, wow, I got to talk about it next week.
Speaker 1Wow, no, you can talk about it right now. I'm going to talk about it.
Speaker 3Fine, I'll talk about it.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 3Diablo. Yeah, I hit level 51. I'm in act four. Now I'm getting my, my paradigm things or Paragon things, I don't really know. The story is really good. Just kidding, I'm not paying attention to that at all. I figured out how to equip my golem, so that's cool.
Speaker 1That's cool.
Discussion on ID@Xbox Showcase Demos
Speaker 3That was neat, yeah. Outside of that, I played a couple of the demos from the Xbox Game Fest it fests, because that's what I was told I was supposed to do, and then the plans all got changed on me, so I'm briefly going to tell you about Dynacat, which is one of the demos that I downloaded, because I own two cats and I'm not really super partial to cats but they amuse me, so I figured what the hell. I'll check out Dynacat, yeah. It's basically it's a sonic clone. That's what it is.
Speaker 3It's a straight up sonic clone, but it's kind of like a cel shaded type of art to it Music in it's super basic. It's a little bit difficult to control and the demo was very, very short. It only gives you two regular levels and one boss fight, and then the entire demo was done, so enough to just give you a taste. It seems OK. It's nothing that I will play. If you're a diehard sonic fan, I recommend going and checking it out. You might enjoy it a lot more than I did, because I'm not a diehard sonic fan. And there's that.
Speaker 1Cool.
Speaker 3I also played the demo for bang on balls chronicles and if I have to tell you why I played that demo, you have never had a conversation with me in your entire life. That's right. The name of that game is bang on balls chronicles. Do you bang on balls? No, you are a ball that bangs on things, so it's like running in gym class. Wait what? Yeah, there's chronicles with the balls banging on things. Everything in it is balls.
Speaker 3The opening cutscene was really, really fun and got me super excited about this game. And then I started playing it and it got even more fun and I'm even more excited about this game and I kind of want to check it out once it actually full-length releases. You control as a ball and you can customize your ball and you unlock things as your ball and it starts out as you arriving at a movie studio and then you walk into the studio and you got to go to the makeup chair, which is where you customize your ball, and then you continue to work your way through the studio where you learn the basic mechanics of the game, including dashing. I'm going to call it stomping, even though it's not stomping, like when you jump and you jam on B, and it specs you down really hard. You can't really stomp on your ball, though.
Speaker 2No, I would not recommend that.
Speaker 3No kidding, there's really big squirrel outside, and I'm not just saying that. The graphics in it are super cool and the problem is that the frame mate seems a little sluggish and chuggy Back to the game where I was. So after you get through the opening sequence, you can go and play through different studio lots and studios and kind of into games where it gives you various different quests and objectives throughout the course of it. The first one I went to was something something Viking something and you had to go and destroy a bunch of ships and you collect movie reels and you collect these stars. They give you power ups and there's tons of things to unlock throughout the course of each of the levels.
Speaker 3It seems like it's going to be I don't know if it'll be a very big game. There might only be three levels to the entire thing, but just that first area that I get into is very, very wide open and there's a ton of things to find and unlock. Almost reminds me of like a Banjo-Kazooie or a Mario 64 type of fun time. You get 60 minutes worth of play through it, though with the demo oh cool.
Speaker 3And if you pause it, the 60 minutes does not keep counting, so you get plenty of time. I thought that was kind of nice that the timer stopped when you paused it. Yeah yeah, it's a bang on ball super. Intrigued by it, I'll probably be buying it.
Speaker 1Wow.
Speaker 3And then I played about an hour's worth of WrestleQuest. It's a wrestling RPG and so far it seems like it's done really well. I like the fact that there's actual wrestlers in there. That's kind of intriguing.
Speaker 3It's fun that it kind of talks in the business side of things, like when referring to things, and I think that's kind of amusing as well. Yeah, I look forward to playing more of that. I don't know how long the demo goes on for, like I said, I put about 45 minutes into that and it hasn't cut off on me yet.
Speaker 1Cool, I have played through the demo of that.
Speaker 3So I got to the end of the demo. You get to the end of the demo. Where's the end of the demo?
Speaker 1So you go through his first couple of quests and then he goes and he goes to. He wants to. I don't know, I don't want to spoil it, but he's going to go off this match and he's going to become a pro wrestler. And then you follow somebody else's storyline and that is cool. So one thing I'll just. Can I just interject here real quick?
Speaker 3Yeah, man, I got to interview. I'm going to say for what I played what I said. I got nothing else to say for what I played. So you can take the ball and run with it Like Al 1-Dang on it.
Speaker 1Okay, so I interviewed James from Mega Cat Studios talking about Wrestle Quest and it is cool, you're right. Like they interviewed a lot of wrestlers to talk about like what life was on the road and they took a lot of feedback from the wrestlers as well. They had them play it and talk about the game. Jeff Jarrett was very influential in the game and Diamond Dallas Page Jake the Snake too. Like they got a lot of feedback from a lot of wrestlers, so I also got a new wrestlers too.
Speaker 3I was going to say I got a good chuckle out of Conrad Thompson being in it, who hosts 10,000 different wrestling podcasts.
Speaker 1Yeah, and like he shows up right away and.
Speaker 3I chuckled pretty heavily when he was there in the pod room or whatever, and that made me laugh.
Speaker 1Yeah, there's other like pop, Like video game, I guess references to like current pop culture, video game People that are real. I won't, I won't, I don't want to spoil it because you'll run into them. But but then the second, the second, so that you take on a new character in his quest, and what was cool about that was they. They talk about oh and this, in this match you have to lose and so make it look good, and they like can't tell you, like what you're supposed to do to make it look good. So you lose to this tag team. So your the second one is showing you how to do tag team matches. And it was cool. Like I didn't try. I mean, I, I just follow the script, so I didn't try to Try to break the break the script, right, because the promoter said this are you supposed to do. But I Wondered if, and then you get more XP and you get, you get equipment afterwards that that you can use. But I wonder what would happen if you said, no, I'm gonna, I'm gonna.
Speaker 3I'm gonna bring this for yourself.
Speaker 1Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3I'll do that point in the demo because I just learned manager skills, so I've got to be.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, you're not that far, you're not far from the end then yeah, but yeah, I as it's. It's fun because I got to play this at PAX East as well and I didn't get as much time with it as I wanted to because it wasn't I didn't really have it scheduled, it was just I got there the first day of PAX, we got the press, got to go on the floor an hour early before anybody else, and so I didn't have any appointments set up at that point yet. So I just went over to Skybound because I knew that they had a Wrestle quest over there and I said, hey, I want to play some Wrestle quest. So I got to play a little bit. I didn't I didn't get to really talk to them at that point. I got to play the game a little bit, but it was fun to play the demo.
Speaker 1It's a good lengthy. I mean it's a good length of demo teaches you, and enough of route, how the game is gonna work and I'm really excited for this game. Cool, should I just go next, mike, are you okay with that?
Speaker 2might as well.
Speaker 1You know it makes me mad. So other games I'm playing. I am playing Franken trach. It's another game that I got to demo at PAX East and it is a visual novel, but it's cool because it has lots of puzzles involved in it as well and it follows two characters, franken Drake, and Frank is like Frankenstein, but like it doesn't come out and you can't. He doesn't look like Frankenstein, but he's losing his mind. There's something going on and he's trying to figure out what's going on. And Drake is like Dracula and they they don't. They are like two ships that pass each other in the night. Well, because Drake is only around at nighttime and Frank is only around during the daytime. And you're trying to figure out like there's some mysterious thing going on. You're trying to figure out what's going on. The cool thing about this game, besides the fact that all your decisions actually make a difference and there's multiple endings at the end of this game the other cool thing is that this is all rotoscope Animation, like old flipbook.
Speaker 2Yeah, no, no if you're gonna use rotoscopy, gotta use the best of rotoscope animation.
Speaker 1What's that?
Speaker 2out of this world.
Speaker 1Oh Okay, yeah, seed, okay.
Speaker 3Well, I will say the only makes me mad. It's really good. What's that film people don't give out of this world enough credit.
Speaker 2And then they play games based on Drake and Josh oh sorry, frank and Frank, frank and Frank, frank and Frank.
Speaker 1But yeah, I. The artwork is so fantastic in this game I'm super excited for it to play it. I'm excited for other people to play it too, because it is not out yet. I'm reviewing it. So, the other game I've been playing is one of the games that was announced in ID at Xbox showcase, and that is Rain World. I Don't know if you, either of you, saw anything with this game.
Speaker 3Yeah, I downloaded the demo and then you said you were playing it, so I deleted it.
Speaker 1Oh no, you should play it.
Speaker 3Nope, too late, it's already deleted. Okay, okay, all right.
Speaker 1So this game you are like this alien cat kind of thing it's the best way I can describe it and you Basically have to find food and survive and not get killed. And and so I'm not very far in this game because I just started playing it. Since the ID, xbox and man, the first time that my cat creature got killed by a predator was the saddest. It like grabbed it in its jaws and shook it and Killed it and I was a little traumatized from it.
Speaker 1It was actually quite sad. Promise me, roger. Yeah, so much. So I was like I don't want that to happen again. But it's cool. The artwork is really good. The animation is really good. It's Intense. I did not think it was gonna be that intense, but it is very intense game and I'm quite enjoying it. And then Diablo I've been playing more Diablo as well. Those things I'm playing. What about you, mike? What have you been playing?
Speaker 2Well, I'm gonna. First thing, I'm gonna say is that, even though this was my idea, I didn't play any of the demos.
Speaker 1Well, to be fair.
Speaker 3Yeah, yeah, yeah, I didn't pay attention, like usual.
Speaker 2It's no worries, I played, I played a demo to fell, so that's okay.
Speaker 1It's alright, there's a lot of other demos out there.
Speaker 2So that's what I was gonna do is I'm gonna call out the two games that I downloaded and I'll let you know what I'm gonna be talking about next week. So next week I'm gonna I've already downloaded the demos for marble it up. Oh, yeah, yeah and a game called Alisa.
Speaker 1Oh, I Did not see that one, so that kind of looks like Alice in Wonderland.
Speaker 2Yes, like a Alice in Wonderland version of Resident Evil or something, yeah.
Speaker 3I think it even gave like a Shout out to like 1996 arrival. Horror types of games something like that.
Speaker 2Yeah, so, yeah, I'm looking forward to trying that one. So I'll be talking about those next week. So stay tuned, loyal listeners I.
Speaker 3Yeah, why do you have an S at the end of that?
Speaker 2Why'd you even say loyal? Stay tuned Kyle. Stay tuned future, mike.
Speaker 1Did you guys see the game? Is it called like life of bread? I think.
Speaker 3Is that anything like Freddy's spaghetti?
Speaker 1Or no, it's called. Is it called bread of life? I can't remember what it's called.
Speaker 3Now you sure you don't think of life of Brad. I am Brad, that's old.
Speaker 1No, that's old yeah. Oh it's. It looks like Paper Mario. That's what it looks like. Oh, and I got the the demos out there. I downloaded that demo as well. I got to play a little bit at PAX he's on it too. I just don't remember what the game was called. Now it's either life of bread or bread of life. I don't remember bread. The bread's knocked life. Yeah, yeah, I don't. I guess I don't remember what. Maybe it's not even called bread of life for life.
Speaker 2Well, maybe it doesn't even exist.
Speaker 1Maybe it doesn't exist, maybe I'm just making us all up.
Speaker 3I don't know their favorite dream Did you get into my Hulkamania 17 Roger.
Speaker 2Roger found one of those Ninja Turtles pies in the back of the freezer.
Speaker 1I would totally eat that if I found one of the back of the freezer, I would totally eat one, totally would. Afterwards I'd be like what did I just do? But at that moment.
Speaker 3I'd be like that's so good, I smell colors.
Speaker 1Are you playing anything else though, Mike?
Speaker 2Yeah, no, I'm playing other games, so I'm playing some Resident Evil Also. You know I've been telling you that the boy has been playing and I can very proudly say that he got every achievement in Resident Evil 4 remake, including beating the game on the hardest difficulty and getting the S plus rank, which is like beating the game in three hours. So, yeah, it's something I could never ever do, so I was very proud of that. Playing a little bit more fall guys. I finished the season so I got all the awards for that.
Speaker 2What else? Some more tears of the kingdom Playing that, having fun with that, Just you know, run around doing stupid stuff and I'm playing a game that you're going to see a review for this game on the website, which is what again, Roger?
Speaker 1Our website is gamerheadspodcastcom.
Speaker 2That's right. I don't know if you're going to ask.
Speaker 3Roger, I saw your asking was the game I'm reviewing. What?
Speaker 1was the game.
Speaker 2Yeah, I'm reviewing a game. It's on the Xbox. It's a game called garlic.
Speaker 1Yeah, do you like it? Is it good?
Speaker 2Oh, I can't stop.
Speaker 1Really.
Speaker 2I'm enjoying it. It's a lot of fun. It's weird, like it's like I don't even know how to explain like it's oh quirky that's the best way for me to explain it. It's like it's like 80s, it's almost like 80s. Japanese cartoon.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2You know, or like and like and like you know, when your main character dies he makes weird faces, almost like. If you've ever watched that show, the what is it? The amazing world of gumball.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2By the way, good writing and good voice acting on that show, but they make weird faces sometimes and it almost looks like that. I don't know, it's just a very quirky game, but it plays like Celeste. The only difference is that this one is actually good, oh wow, damn, whoa, whoa, I'll go hardcore against Celeste.
Speaker 1Actually I'm going to say this.
Speaker 2I'm going to take that back a little bit. Celeste is not a bad game, but it is not worthy of the praise that it gets, in my humble opinion. So so, yeah, so it plays a lot like that. So it's very precision platformy and you're like dashing through enemies, jumping on you know certain things, sliding down the walls, running up walls, so it's. It's what it's an action platform. It also reminded me do you remember you play the game N plus.
Speaker 1Yes, yes.
Speaker 2Love N plus it reminded me of that very actiony. It's got great music. It's there's like there's times when, when, when there's I get to the end of a stage and I just have to stop for a second. I'm like I have no idea how I just accomplished this. It's just like it gets chaotic, but at the same time it's entry level.
Speaker 2So, it's a good way to get into these, these, these really tough precision platformer games. But then when you get to like a certain level of things really start getting tough. Like the fire level kicked my butt, I'm on a sky level right now. That is really weird, it's? It's another one of those games where you like, you like, get into that like like zone, kind of like, like, remember, like guitar hero.
Speaker 2You get into that guitar hero zone where you're just not like nothing else around you exists and you forget how to blink and you just become one with the controller. That's kind of how this game is. One other thing I'll say about this game and I do love, you know, I do love achievements. They do something with achievements that I've never seen before and it kind of surprised me, but I don't know if it's a if I like it or not, and that thing about the achievements, you're just going to have to find out by reading my review on game runs podcast.
Speaker 3How kind of a tease was that.
Speaker 2The kind to get us a few more hits on the site.
Speaker 1Three more, at least three more, or at least one, phil, will go out there and read it now to say what is the internet?
Speaker 2Yeah, you're going to have to wait till next, till this weekend.
Speaker 1Yeah, it doesn't know how to use the internet. Right now it is on sale, at least on the eShop it's on sale for $11.99. It's normally $14.99. Where?
Speaker 3you don't get achievements.
Speaker 1Where you don't get achievements, that's right.
Speaker 2Where you don't get achievements, yeah, so yeah, so yeah, garlic, I'm recommending it. So far, I think I'm almost done with the game. Oh wait, there's like mini games in it too that are really really quirky but interesting. Like I said, it's quite an interesting experience, quite a wacky experience.
Speaker 1Huh, that's cool, that's awesome, very cool, anything else.
Speaker 2Yes, and I don't know if I should be proud of saying this or not, but there have been some people that you may listen to on the show that have been pressuring me to play Diablo, so I started playing Diablo.
Speaker 1Oh, yep. Now you can join us.
Speaker 2Yes, I can. Yeah, so, yeah, I started playing that. I don't even know how far I've been playing for probably a good four or five hours. I'm really enjoying just how casual it is. I thought it was going to be way too micromanagy.
Speaker 3No way, I mean.
Speaker 2I know it can be if you want it to be. Especially when I first saw that skill tree, I was like oh boy.
Speaker 3And then you hit level 15, the skill tree doesn't matter, Mike.
Speaker 2Okay, but I'm liking how slow-paced it is. You know, I also. You know, it's one of those things I'm walking around. I'm like, oh, this cave looks interesting, and then I'm in this cave for the next hour.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2Doing, you know, trying to. I don't even know what I was trying to do.
Speaker 1Welcome to Diablo.
Speaker 2Yeah. What are the guys you playing us.
Speaker 1Well, I wanted to play as a necromancer, but everybody out there is a freaking necromancer, so I'm like well, we could have had like 16 skeletons, like just walking around.
Speaker 2Yeah, so I figured well, if you guys are both necromancers, then we need to have like a tank character. So I picked a druid.
Speaker 3Oh, do you turn into a bear?
Speaker 2Oh, no, no, I went full werewolf.
Speaker 1At a boy. Oh, that's cool.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah. So yeah, I'm a werewolf druid guy who looks like one of the Viking Raiders and Just chops everybody. Yep, Yep and so yeah, so I'm enjoying it, I think I'm. I mean, I went through the prologue or whatever it is, so I think I'm ready to do online. I'm only like a level. I think I'm like level 11 or something right now, it doesn't matter, everything scales.
Speaker 3It doesn't matter.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, so this is the content for the Season theme I was sink into. I was thinking, uh, but my solo adventures in there? If it's fun, it is fun at times, so I don't know. I prefer games like Diabolos to be played with friends.
Speaker 2I hope to experience that someday.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, well, now you can. The game I was thinking of before when I said life of bread by the way, that's like From the Bible, it's born of bread is the game that I was trying to think of. Oh yeah, it's cool, though it's like a Mario paper Mario type game. Before we head into our last segment, which is the tales of the from the e-shop, but big shout out, a special shout out to our patrons. We have Jill and Matt. They are patrons of our Gamerheads podcast and you two can join. For as little as three dollars a month you can join you to do.
Speaker 3You mean Mike and I.
Speaker 1Yeah, you too, you too. You too could also join for as little as three dollars a month. And if you sign up now, through the end of July, we are giving out a $20 gift card to any council you would like or to the steam shop thing, steam. So so, all, all entries, all patrons are entered to win, and Matt won our $20 gift card giveaway last month. So how about that?
Speaker 3Nice job, matt. All right, all right.
Speaker 1Yeah, all right, should we move into our last segment, and that is the, the tales from the e-shop. So, mike, what was the game that we made Phil play?
Speaker 3Yeah, this game the rest of this hour to read the title of the game.
Speaker 2It's true, yeah so here we go. The name of the game is deep space action, fire, sci-fi game 2023, shooter, strike simulator, alien death, ultimate games. That is a long title.
Speaker 1Yes, they were going for SEO words right there. What will people search for? Every one of these words in some game?
Speaker 2that's what it was. Yeah, that's, yeah, let's see. Deep space is a scary survival game. The action takes place on a spaceship and you are the main character who has to go through several obstacles to survive. Deep space is a highly interactive game with stunningly realistic graphics, an eerie atmosphere created by sounding gameplay. Players navigate through level based sections of the spaceship, completing missions and fighting monsters. The game starts when the protagonist wakes up in a sarcophagus and tries to understand what happened, as one would do.
Speaker 2Yeah exactly the fight for survival becomes intense right from the first level, the protagonist not Understanding what happened at the bow of the ship during his exploration. He is in search for ammunition, health reserves and nodes, which are both used to unlock special doors and upgrade. That's it hold on a second grade. That was it on the official Nintendo site. I gotta go to day coup deals to see what the rest of it is. Oh, oh that's so weird that the official site has less has less of a description.
Speaker 1That's bizarre. Why would?
Speaker 2I, I don't know that's weird upgrade weapons. Okay, here we go. He is in search for ammunition, health reserves and nodes which are both used to unlock special doors and upgrade weapons and suit. He begins to explore the lab.
Speaker 1That was the end and suit, that was it.
Speaker 2He begins to explore the space of the ship he is in and to look for ways out of the situation.
Speaker 1That's one, guys. What do you guys?
Speaker 2That's right in a sarcophagus, that's right. Yeah, that's right during his exploration, he meets a multitude of monsters in the rooms that he must defeat in order to open the next one. He also meets he also meets the main monster which get this, which is the most difficult to defeat, as One would be yeah and the third part of the game.
Tales from the eShop:
Speaker 1That's right, I forgot about that.
Speaker 2Yeah is the escape from the damaged ship by means of a smaller ship, but not everything is as easy as it seems, as the protagonist is prevented by something from doing this. Oh it's just something just something and you can find out the end of the tense story only by trying the game or Making Phil play it.
Speaker 3Yeah, yeah you think?
Speaker 1I made it to the end. How good is this game, phil?
Speaker 3it is so good that in the first room that you wake up in your sarcophagus you can see the gap in between the textures of the floor and the wall, and you can see out into space. Is this like?
Speaker 1a first person, or what is this?
Speaker 3Yeah, it's basically the what's even cheaper than a dollar store.
Speaker 2Garbage picking?
Speaker 3yeah, it's like a garbage pick version of dead space dumpster diving. Yeah, um you wake up and like oh man.
Speaker 3All right, I know I say oh man a lot whenever I do these things. He's got an. Oh boy, I've got an aw man. It initially assigns you to find this data pad to do stuff with. So, as I'm attempting to find my way out of the room, eventually I get close enough to the door where I can hold down a to open up the door. Except sometimes, if you're too close, it doesn't actually register that you're holding down a, so you get a sweet spot, and that way It'll open up the door for you.
Speaker 3So then you go and you find the data pad, and then you got a wander around the ship to go figure out what to link this data pad up to and there's this really big screen that if you go and you press it, it'll tell you that you need to go find health. So you can't really do that until then. You go back to that screen again, with your data pad out this time, and you download the coordinates for this place. Mind you, there's no map or anything, but somehow it unlocks doors when you. When you do that, then you go and you find some health. But I think you actually have to power up some things first, which involves walking into a room and holding down a on some items to power them up or repair the generators, and then you got to turn on the power generators and then at some point you, oh, you walk into a room and there's a bunch of like Alien things inside of test tubes as they tend to be in in space not test tubes, but like giant holding tanks, like a back to tank.
Speaker 3Yeah for a little bit of a premonition type of a thing, and and then you find a weapon, and then you go back to the room and lo and behold, the aliens are no longer in the things strange.
Speaker 3So then you have to figure out a way to open up the door to get the next section, and then you finally find some ammo for your gun. Because you walk around with your gun but no ammo for about 10 minutes before you actually find ammo, which is fine because you don't actually have to shoot anything until you get to this first big room when all of a sudden you get surrounded by all these different alien things that begin to attack you and you shoot them and shoot them, and shoot them and shoot them. In little hit point things come up when you shoot them, telling you how much damage that you're doing.
Speaker 3Oh, I like borderlands, yeah, but there's no bar that tells you what their actual health is. That so they're just random fucking numbers. Oh.
Speaker 3Maybe they are and there's little wormy ones too that are really difficult to shoot, and I don't think you can iron sight your gun either, so you're just kind of hip-firing everything the entire time. Oh my god. And so I'm in this room and you can jump really high, and there's these like things that look like you should be able to jump on them, but you can't actually jump on them, so you just fight in on floor level against these aliens that are charging at you, and after I died five times, I quit.
Speaker 1So you didn't find out what was chasing you.
Speaker 3Yeah, well because at that point it had told me that well, you find a suit at one point too, because I think you're walking around naked until you find the suit and it's. It's definitely dead space.
Speaker 2Oh, that's a suit yeah.
Speaker 3I don't really know where you're going the entire time, except that it kind of seals off doors behind you. After you've closed off that section, you kind of just walk around in circles until you figure out where you're going. There's a lot of dark hallways, there's sparks that fly off of things that don't work, the, the aliens, attack you and I honestly got. I couldn't kill the aliens. I tried like hell. I even grabbed a second gun in that room and I kept fighting, I kept fighting, kept fighting. After about the fifth time I was like this is bullshit and I'm done.
Speaker 1But you know what you?
Speaker 3know, I told you, if you clear out all the aliens in the room, then you get to fight the Queen.
Speaker 1So I think I was on the home stretch at that point, which was yeah, 45 minutes at the boss boss. You know, what prevents you from leaving that station is how shitty the game is. That's what's preventing you.
Speaker 3Well, I was thinking. The textures probably just don't line up, so you just can't quite get out of the station, like I think I even took a screenshot of that as well, like just the gap between the floor and the wall, and I was like, oh, I don't know.
Speaker 2I'll get you a better game next time. I don't know, I don't know, I'm worried about it.
Speaker 3It's part of part of what I signed up for and you know I can't legally bet on sports in this state, so I might as well throw two dollars a week at some horseshit game.
Speaker 1I the thing that boggles my mind, and I'm not an expert in unity whatsoever, but I have built stuff in unity. Now I actually have some stuff that I've published in unity that you guys will never play, because it's stuff that nobody will ever play, but that's okay. Well, people will play, but not you guys. I Don't understand how, how difficult that is, because it's not hard, like it's not hard to put a wall to a floor, like you have to take time to do it, but it's not difficult. I don't get it. It makes no sense to me.
Speaker 3Here's what I don't understand it's every time that I get these wonderful assignments from the two of you guys, of these games to play, I always go and I search the Microsoft Store first to see if I can find it on the Microsoft Store, because I will gladly pay the extra I'll say $5, $10 for the game If I can play it on the Xbox and potentially get achievements from it and use an adult controller. Why is it that Nintendo lets these bullshit games on their system?
Speaker 1when your other system does? Yeah, that's a good question. That is a good question. It used to be the Nintendo seal of approval.
Speaker 3That went on everything and it was on their games. It didn't get published unless Nintendo took a look at it and was like, yeah, your game lives up to our standards. And now Nintendo is just like we don't have any standards. It's 2.30 in the morning and everybody else said no to me.
Speaker 1That's crazy, though, because they do have a process. Remember when we had Barry on the show from Premium Edition Games? Remember that? Which time? Well, yeah, well, one of the times, and he talked about how, when you make a physical copy, make physical game, it has to go through this pretty rigorous procedure, yeah, but that's for physical copy.
Speaker 2Nintendo has to sign off on it. That's for physical copy, but it's for physical games.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's why I was just like oh yeah, I guess it's physical copy, so I guess it might be different for a digital.
Speaker 3For a digital copy if they respond to an email, Nintendo is pressing publish at that exact second.
Speaker 1Yeah Well, and I guess the other thought is like Nintendo doesn't care, like if you want to patch the game, fine, patch the game, they won't do that, but if you want to, they don't care. Right, but it is weird. You would think that they'd have more standards about some of these games. I don't know, I don't know. But then our segment wouldn't exist if it wasn't for this.
Speaker 3So there's that, so you're playing bad games on the Xbox that are at least tolerable because they don't just push publish on every email that comes in.
Speaker 1Oh, that's funny. Well, next week, if this makes you feel any better. Next week, our idea was that we'll play some of the demo games that we picked out from the Xbox store, and we'll talk about those next week.
Speaker 3Does that make you feel better, phil? Yeah, it means I save a couple of dollars this week.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3And you're not playing.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, if you win, let us know. But yeah, so that's next week, okay, well, before we head out, why don't we tell the good folks how they can find us on social media? So, mike, how can people find you on social media?
Speaker 2You can find me at PezGuyMike.
Speaker 1And Phil, how can people find you? I'm at Beat Out 23. Also, you're on threads too now, am I? Yes, you added me as a friend. I don't remember how many of this goes. I signed up for like six things.
Speaker 3That day. I'm also on Blue Sky as well, and I don't know how to use that either.
Speaker 1How did you get that's BS man. If you get an invite, can you send it to me please? That means I have to figure out how to use the app. Oh my God, oh my God, listeners. You can find us on Twitter, at GamerheadsPod. You can find us on threads as well at Gamerheads Podcast. You can also find us on Instagram at Gamerheads Podcast.
Speaker 3How do I have 123 friend requests on the switch? What the hell is going on here?
Speaker 1And then you can find me on Twitter at NintendoRodge. And then, lastly, you can find all of our podcast episodes, along with reviews and articles and news as well, on our website at GamerheadsPodcastcom. Well, mike, thank you so much for joining us this week. No problem. And Phil, thank you so much for joining us this week, do you?
Speaker 3know you can't even access your clips on the Switch online app. Gimmick thing.
Speaker 2I mean thanks for having me.
Speaker 1I was going to upload clips from Deep Space 9743. I don't know. Hey, it's not the Xbox. Phil, it's not the Xbox. Well, where are this Listeners? Thank you so much for giving us a listen. If you like what you hear, leave us a review. Not only does that help us grow our show, because we want to hear feedback from you but also Commodore 64.
