Roger:

And welcome to another episode of the Gamerheads podcast. My name is Roger. Along with me are my good friends and cohost. I have Mike, how do can? hide do can? and Phil by do can Mike, how was she boy Again?

Mike:

it was very nice Went to freak toys.

Phil:

That was a very nice place. I picked up Punisher on the original Xbox, so I was very excited.

Mike:

One of my favorite games. I love that game. Went to water parks, did water park things. I picked up a CD. They used a music place, so I picked up an old CD that I wanted to listen to again.

Roger:

Nice.

Mike:

Yeah, it was very, very relaxing.

Roger:

Thank, you for asking. Did you go to gaming generations as well?

Mike:

I did That place was small?

Roger:

Yeah, it is, that store is small. The one in Stevens Point is bigger. That store is really small.

Mike:

But you know what I do want to call this out because it's not. I mean, i guess it has to do with gaming generation. It's a gaming generation, i don't know, but I have to call this out for timing's sake and just so, that way I have evidence. I didn't talk about this because I wasn't on the show for a couple of weeks when I went to Combo Breaker. Oh yeah, Which is at that fighting game tournament.

Roger:

Yeah.

Mike:

I was chatting with one of the people that was running one of the booths that was selling retro games and all that stuff And he had a bunch of exclusive premium edition games to sell And I was talking with them and it turns out that this was one of the guys that runs premium edition games. Oh really.

Phil:

I'm not kidding.

Mike:

Yeah, i wish I remembered his name. So we're talking and I'm saying how much I enjoy the product and everything, and you know, it's like, hey, how much you know how awesome the product is. And he's like, are you wearing one of our arm band or not? arm bands, wristbands? And I look, i'm like, oh yeah, sure enough I am. So we had a good conversation. And he's like, well, do you have any recommendations of any games?

Roger:

And I said well, I do have one. No, Oh, no, Oh no.

Mike:

And I call, I called out. Of course, I called out ski sniper. Yeah as always, but I did more, more, more of a joke, because the game's not very deep And he said they prefer to have games that are deep. So to that point I want to call out that I recommended that they get a really good game called Haiku the Robot.

Roger:

Oh yeah, It's a game that we reviewed. Yeah, it is Yeah.

Mike:

So that was about three weeks ago. And then this week the developer of Haiku, the Robot, posted on Twitter saying something is something very exciting has happened. But I can't share what it is just yet.

Roger:

Did you just possibly share what that is?

Mike:

right now. Well, it's possible. It's possible, see, i don't know, because.

Roger:

Yeah, that's true, they never actually. It's speculation, yeah, speculation.

Phil:

It could be announcing DLC or something as well.

Mike:

That's true, that's true, so that's why I'm calling this out now, So that way in case it does get officially announced we have evidence that if Haiku the Robot gets a physical release, it's all because of me.

Phil:

It is. Yeah, You know it's going to be even better than that, Mike. It's when they cancel the physical release because you said something on the show and you fuck up the entire thing.

Mike:

Oh, could that?

Roger:

happen.

Phil:

And then you're going to get this reputation for being a leaker And you're going to be blocked by every major form of media, that's true, you're going to be ostracized and you're going to be stoned and you're going to get the scarlet letter painted on your chest.

Mike:

True, all right, so then I'll work at Kotaku then.

Phil:

At a boy Yeah.

Roger:

Well, that's. I mean that's cool. I mean it'd be cool if that was the case.

Mike:

Yeah, but like I just put it out there, it'd be cool if it's not the case too.

Roger:

Whatever the big news is, whatever it is.

Mike:

But if that is, if that is what happens. I just want to call it out that you know that you made it happen, you could think me not you two, but anyone who enjoys Haiku the robot can thank me by signing up for the Gamerheads podcast Patreon.

Roger:

That's right. For only $3 a month, you can be a Patreon on Gamerheads, just like Jill Grote and also Matt Storm. And this month I should say this this month.

Mike:

No relation to Lance, no relations. We don't have to call that out.

Roger:

Yeah, we have to call that out And to say and this one thing I have to say is that this month we're doing a giveaway. We're giving a $20 council card giveaway of your choice, whether it be Isha or or Xbox or PlayStation $20. What about a steam gift?

Phil:

card.

Roger:

Sure, $20 steam gift card. Absolutely With with the who knows, with Steamfest going on right now, you might be like, hey, there's a lot of games on my wish list And I would like to have a $20 card so I can buy those games and you can. So anybody, that's, anybody that is a patron of Gamerheads, patreon you are entered for a chance to win Our monthly prizes. I actually asked on our Twitter and the other thing I should plug here to join our Discord too, and I'll put that in our show notes. Show notes.

Roger:

Show notes, show notes, show notes.

Mike:

That kind of a show. It is a lot more money if we had that.

Roger:

Well, I'm not sure we would actually.

Phil:

Depends on the camera angle.

Roger:

But yeah, in the show notes I'll put a link to our Discord and I ask in the Discord hey, what do you guys want for your monthly giveaway? And that's what they voted for, which interested me because, like, i had some rather cool ideas, but that's what they, that's what the community voted for, so that's what people have spoken.

Phil:

The people are spoken. Those are the same people that elected me president, that's true.

Roger:

Wait, were you elected or did you just bought us?

Phil:

I don't remember, i stuff to say what the order actually was.

Roger:

Yeah, yeah, well, welcome back, mike, you were missed.

Phil:

I agree I've already said more this episode than I did all of last episode but solely because you're here, mike, that's true.

Roger:

Well, you were traveling, that's why. So, before the week before we had a show, oh anyway, i was like I was traveling last week.

Phil:

I might have done a little time traveling, but I wasn't doing any physical traveling.

Roger:

So before we get into games or playing, I did want to mention there was a Nintendo Direct.

Phil:

Oh look, number six from 2014. The original sister, Mary.

Roger:

So I feel, did you even see any of the games? Did you know I'm telling?

Phil:

you. I, like I'm not exaggerating. I say I've spent less time on social media in the last month and a half, two months, than I have in the previous 10 years.

Mike:

Like it's very liberating. I'm not like trying to be a braggart or anything like that.

Phil:

It's in part of. it's the fact that Twitter, with all the ads on its, pissed me off so bad Oh it's terrible. Facebook. Facebook has to say an Instagram's got just as many ads as Twitter, so I'm just like I don't need this many ads in my life. I wanted this many ads, i'd get cable TV.

Roger:

That's good point. That's funny. Well, there is one game. I think that I was going to say what is what's one game that we're all excited about from the Direct? And there's probably one that I mean you probably won't play it on the switch, but there, but vampire survivors is coming to switch and it's local co-op. That's cool, right, that's super cool. I'm interested to see how that plays on the switch. I'm too. Mike, did you watch the director? Did you catch anything in the course I did.

Mike:

I was actually I was very impressed.

Roger:

Yeah, me too.

Mike:

It was. There were a lot of good announcements. What is?

Roger:

your favorite or couple. I guess you can name a couple of your favorite Well.

Mike:

I'm going to throw because you can't do. Just do one favorite. Because there were so many good ones, phil, i'll just give you like the 40 second recap.

Phil:

If you want.

Mike:

Yeah, okay, here we go. Roger, is this okay with you that I'm doing this? Yeah, yeah, for sure. Ok, here we go.

Phil:

New to kick Rogers dog.

Mike:

I know I'm sorry, roger, i steal your thunder.

Roger:

Oh, it's OK, Don't go ahead. Go ahead, no, it's fine.

Mike:

All right, ok, to a new two D Mario game.

Roger:

You know, this is, this is your show. Now, that's OK, that's right, joking, I'm joking, of course, go ahead.

Phil:

I can tell you, Mike.

Roger:

That's true. You could also fire me, so no, please continue.

Mike:

OK, new to D Mario game Remake of Super Mario RPG.

Phil:

That's not the new to D Mario, is it?

Mike:

No, no, two different games. Ok, yep, A Switch version of the 3DS Luigi's Mansion game.

Roger:

Yeah.

Mike:

A Princess Peach game? Yeah. What else? Some info on Pikmin one and two are coming to Switch HD versions. Let's see Batman Arkham trilogy coming to the Switch, yeah.

Roger:

So was that a cloud version or is that the? is that?

Mike:

a native version. They haven't said they're not sure Yeah.

Phil:

Wait, cloud version of what Batman Arkham Origins The Siloms.

Mike:

I'm sure it's going to be.

Phil:

It's all three games.

Mike:

It's all three games. And I'm sure there's going to be a physical version.

Phil:

I think you can only fit one on the Switch at a time, unless you've got a huge memory card.

Mike:

It'll probably be one of those you know. oh, here's a code for the other two games, yeah.

Roger:

Yeah, and I don't know If it's going to include origins, right, because it said trilogy, so I don't think origins No it's no, no, it's Arkham, asylum, arkham. City Arkham Knight Yeah.

Phil:

I was using origins more so of the like, the origin of the Arkham games. Oh not the actual Arkham Origins itself. Ok, yeah, because that game was the least impressive of the three. Anyways, yeah, but it's still good. I still like it.

Roger:

Yeah, it didn't suck Yeah better than Gotham Knight. That's true.

Mike:

Let's see New Detective Pikachu game, a new WarioWare game. Oh, let's see This game. Look, check it out sometime. It's a game called Palea. It's a free to play game, it's. It's kind of like a mixture of, i guess, fortnite and Animal Crossing.

Phil:

What.

Mike:

I know it's weird, it's I don't know, it almost I don't know. Just check out the trailer. I'm trying to remember like you gather materials, you build up your house, it's it's. You know, you play online with your friends. It's one of it's a free to play game, so we'll have to see how that goes. And then you go out and you know, like kill animals and stuff, or That's the opposite of Animal Crossing. That's why I said it's a mixture of Animal.

Roger:

Crossing and Fortnite. Is that the Fortnite part of it? Yes the Animal Crossing is the animals, and then the Fortnite part is killing of them.

Mike:

Yeah, you'll see what I'm talking about when you watch the trailer. What else Booster more information or more DLC for Mario Kart, Metal Gear Solid Collection?

Phil:

So there's no booster gold game coming? when you just said booster and got me excited for half of a word. That's really unfortunate.

Mike:

No, sorry, but I mean if you, if you did, there was a booster gold game. You just lose in the first stage every time.

Roger:

This is very true, it's not really cocky about it too Yeah.

Phil:

And you'd regret the entire time you play. That's right, that's right.

Mike:

There was a trailer for Sonic Superstars, which is a new 2D Sonic game.

Roger:

That looks cool. I'm not a big Sonic fan, but I'm actually kind of up for that, because it's four players too, that looks cool.

Mike:

This is one to keep an eye on. I'm going to say Penny's big adventure or Penny's big breakaway. This is made by the Sonic Sonic Mania team And it's it looks like a classic 3D platformer that you would have played on the you know, GameCube or PS2 or even the N64. But it looks, the game. The game looks good. It just looks like a lot of fun.

Roger:

Yeah, that looks cool.

Mike:

Stupid. Star Ocean, persona 5. Vampire Survivors That looks good. A game where you're playing as pigeons That looks really weird. Ok, hot Wheels. And then the one that excites me the most, i'm calling this one last. Check this one out. This looks like it's going to be really fun, and that's a lot for me to say this, because it's a roguelike. Yeah, i know, i gave you a saying.

Roger:

I say I'm the same boat, yep.

Mike:

Yes, well, is that your most favorite?

Roger:

Yes, Yes, Go ahead. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no no no no, no, no. It's Myth Force right.

Mike:

Yes.

Roger:

Oh my gosh, the game looks so good. So it looks like an 80s cartoon and its first person and it's a roguelike, like Mike said, but the game just looks like totally like an 80s cartoon. It looks really cool. If you want to try it out right now, it's on Steam Next Fest. The demo is available right now. But, yeah, it looks so cool And I'm watching it. I'm watching this and I'm like how are they doing this? This looks so amazing. This, this animation is so good and the the combat looks really interesting. So it's like. It's like Dungeons and Dragons, right.

Mike:

It's kind of see. so it's like the Dungeons and Dragons, but it but it looks like the old Dungeons and Dragons cartoon, or look the animation, or it looks like that that heavy metal movie.

Roger:

Yeah, remember heavy metal.

Mike:

It's seriously. I mean the animation, everything looks really good. I'm almost kind of bummed out that it's the first person that it's a first person game And it's a role like I can. I can handle, especially if the game looks that fun.

Roger:

So Mike's evolving Yeah, i mean that's because of Empire survivors. Oh cool, And it's all because of me.

Mike:

Yes, thank you.

Roger:

Yeah, you're a minute I was the one that brought it up on. I go, we're gonna pull up the history at some point and I'll say luck see.

Mike:

Yeah, show me don't. Yeah. Yeah, go ahead, show the receipts. I don't want to make it.

Roger:

Yeah, that game looks really, really good. That was my, that was my, that was. I mean, i think the new Super Mario Brothers game is the. The 2D game looks cool and also super stoked about the RPG game. But when I saw Myth Force I was like, oh yes, that looks so amazing.

Mike:

Yeah check that out, phil, take a look at some of those screenshots It looks really interesting.

Roger:

It looks really really good. Cool, that's a good recap there, mike. Nice job, i took notes. Yeah, and I think it's funny that you and I had the same game that we're both both most excited about. Yeah, See, that's why we're friends.

Mike:

That's, yeah, that's. That's the only reason I'm doing here.

Roger:

Well, i mean, once you see it, you'll you'll fall in line with us, and then or else, or else and we'll all hold hands and jump up and down and it'll look like a Toyota commercial Yeah exactly And and then people will be like, oh, those guys are best friends. And we'll say, yeah, we are, and we bite. We all like Myth Force. Very cool That was beautiful Roger.

Mike:

Yeah, that was.

Roger:

I mean, could everybody manage in that moment right there? Just Yeah, i think so. Yeah, me too Cool, thanks, thanks, mike. Thanks for the recap.

Mike:

That is, you know, I got to do something.

Roger:

What is everybody playing? We'll start with you, Phil. What are you playing right now? Diablo?

Phil:

for Diablo, for Diablo, for all I play for Mike I'm going to get it this weekend.

Mike:

Do you need? Well, let me give you some cash for it then.

Roger:

Really.

Mike:

Yeah, at least let me do something like the last three games that you got. I mean, i haven't played any of the games that you bought, but you bought these three games that I'll never play, but you bought them.

Roger:

Yeah. Well, that's nice of you, but yeah, i want to get. I mean, do you want to play Diablo for two, right, mike?

Mike:

Not really. Oh, you don't Okay.

Roger:

All right, all right. Now see, i can't take your money, then That's rude. Anyway, phil, tell us about Diablo, for it's Diablo for. Yeah.

Roger:

So what is what is? what is this online? Have you played any online like the P versus P at all? Like there was something that I don't remember what it was, but there was something that called out in one of their like demos of the game, saying like this is going to be one of the coolest things. Is that, like, if you are the highest rank in whatever in this land, like people will come after you. Have you seen any of that?

Phil:

Not seen any of that yet.

Roger:

No.

Phil:

I've got how much time have I put into this game? Just over a day's worth of time into it, playing as a necromancer with my army of the dead that I summoned that follows me everywhere and they kill everything together and it's super rad.

Roger:

Who's not playing a necromancer, though? because, like I, play necromancer Yeah.

Phil:

Oh, i don't know, because everybody else that I'm playing with is playing as rogues and barbarians and stuff like that.

Roger:

Yeah Well, i always play as a necromancer because of the fact that you just said you could raise an army of the dead, and then I don't do anything. I mean, i still do stuff, i don't just let them back and let my army dead take care of the guys, and then I, after they die, i bring those guys to life and yeah, yeah, you know, man, some, yeah, exactly.

Phil:

But yeah, as far as like the PVP stuff goes, I haven't seen any of that yet. I don't know if it's maybe because I'm not a high enough level to get into that. I am only level 37.

Phil:

So I don't know when I think it cap out at 50, but I'm not certain, i just think the what's known as the first act today and it looks like there's three acts in the game, so I'm making some progress. I have played online. Online runs absolutely silky smooth when you're playing with your friends, not difficult to find and it's a roaring good time and it, weirdly enough, it kind of it's daggers the enemy difficulties, because I was playing with Carrington and Andy tonight and I going into what we were doing, i was at 35, carrington was level 21 and Andy was level 10. But we all seem to be doing what sort of looking for like balanced amount of damage to the creatures Interesting, which I thought was kind of cool, the way that they executed and pulled that off.

Phil:

Andy was kind of getting the shit kicked out of him a little bit from time to time, but we were also doing some higher level raid type of stuff. So I mean like I was getting beat up, beat around pretty nicely too, but it does seem to scale like how much damage you do in the way your enemies are to. I don't. I don't recall if it shows like what the enemy's level on the top of the screen is or not, but it would say like, as we're going into areas would be like you're entering a level 37 area. You sure you want to do this.

Phil:

And he's like Oh, and Carrington's like Oh, and I'm like don't worry, guys, hop on my army of dead back. I got this.

Roger:

And did you have it? Did you get it?

Phil:

Yeah, we knocked out two of the strongholds two of the three strongholds in the first area because I tried doing them so low and I couldn't do them so low, so having the two pieces of cannon fodder next to me really did a lot of good, but I'm absolutely adoring my time with it. I haven't begun to restructure the build of my character yet. God, i'm gonna sound like such a nerd and I hate sounding like a nerd. Yeah, to get the perfect flow and perfect liking, i'm just kind of going with what I originally started with and haven't really tampered around with any of the other skills yet, but so far everything seems pretty well balanced and not too abusive in any way, shape or form. You will stumble across people in the Overland as well, which is cool, like people that you're not actually playing with, and they'll sometimes just kind of walk side by side with you and help you out with doing whatever you're doing, just because they're looking to kill time in.

Phil:

XP grind too. That's cool. Yeah, so far it's been a really good experience, fun.

Roger:

Yeah, i can't wait. Yeah, like I said, i really want to get that game this weekend, so I'm probably gonna get it this weekend. Yeah, it's rad Nice. Anything else?

Phil:

Not that I can think of Nope.

Roger:

No, okay, mike, what about you?

Mike:

So still working through the Resident Evil games with the boy. We finished Resident Evil 3 Remake and Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Phil:

Damn.

Mike:

And he's on his I think third playthrough of Resident Evil 4.

Phil:

Impressive.

Mike:

So he's trying to work his way up to get the unlimited ammo rocket launcher. So having a lot of fun with that. As always, playing more Tears of the Kingdom, yeah, how far are you now on that game? I did one of the first. I did one of the dungeons. Oh, you did Nice And that was a cool one That was a great boss battle too. It was the Wind one. Okay, So that one yeah, that was a lot of fun.

Mike:

I'm still just working on, like, just you know, walking around trying to get all the maps done, yeah, and, just you know, getting up my stamina and my heart. So there's a lot, there's a lot to that game. Yeah, there is, you know. So been playing that, And then, oh, I also played Double Dragon Gaiden Oh what's that?

Roger:

What's the game?

Mike:

Yeah what is this game? Yeah?

Roger:

So it's, it's actually.

Mike:

So I played a demo again when I was at Combo Breaker, which I didn't really haven't had a chance to talk about. So it's you know. Obviously it's a Double Dragon game. It comes out, i think, in the next month or so And it is a. You know, it's just like the other Double Dragons, it's a beat them up in the style of I don't have to say how it kind of looks like almost the, the, the almost looks like the Turtles game.

Roger:

Oh, no, okay The one that just came out.

Mike:

Yeah, yeah.

Roger:

So that's, it's, it's not bad.

Mike:

There's multiple, there's more than just the two. You can get a lot of. You know more than just the two. You can actually play as Marion in this one. Oh really Yes.

Phil:

Does it get kidnapped?

Mike:

No, you can play as Billy or Jimmy or Marion. And there's another guy named Uncle something I forgot his name. Uncle Rico or something like that. Oh, uncle Rico, no, i forgot. Uncle Rico is the guy from Napoleon Dynamite.

Phil:

I know. Oh he'd be a hell of an add-on to the game, though That would be awesome. He throws a football, he threw, or no, not a football.

Mike:

He throws a steak at people. We need this.

Roger:

We need this in the chest.

Mike:

Yeah, and it's. it's not bad. Now I played as I played as Uncle Rico. I'm just going to call him Uncle Rico. So I played as Uncle Rico, which he's kind of like the heavy of the group.

Roger:

Okay.

Mike:

It's just, it's, it's a beat him up at. The game works well. Yeah, it just. To me it seemed pretty slow, which isn't a isn't a bad thing, and it could also be because I was the heavy character, so but it's, it's a, it's a fun game And I'm actually I'm going to look into picking it up because you know I like my beat him ups.

Roger:

Nice. What is that on? Did you play it on?

Mike:

I played it on a PC.

Roger:

Oh, okay.

Mike:

But it's going to, it's coming to all the systems.

Roger:

Okay, okay, yeah, is it out yet, or no?

Mike:

No, i think it comes out either at the end of. I think it comes at the end of next month.

Roger:

Okay.

Mike:

It's available on, like Amazon or Best Buy or whatever, to pre-order. Oh, cool.

Roger:

Yeah, i'll have to check it out. Yeah, very cool, anything else?

Mike:

No wait, no wait, no, no, that's it Sure, i think so.

Roger:

Okay, yeah, for myself. I also have been playing a lot more tears of the kingdom. In fact, on Father's Day I was like I'm going to play this game and I'm just going to sit here and play for as long as I like, and for the most part that worked out, except for then my son was like well now. I want to play this game And I was like oh, come on.

Mike:

You're giving Breath of the Wild, and so you're here.

Roger:

Well, he's playing through Skyward Sword right now.

Mike:

Oh, okay.

Roger:

And so he was like well, i want to play this game now. And I was like well, finish Skyward Sword and then Breath of the Wild, and then you can play this game. But yeah, it's cool, i love the game. I found I built myself a tank, oh nice, and I was driving around. You know, what I love about this game is you can do anything Like it's crazy. So I've been doing a lot of shrines. I actually got all my map pieces now, so I got all the towers And I was doing these. I was doing all the shrines, i was doing as many shrines as I can. And then somewhere up in the sky, you know, when you get the tower they're like way up on the islands over there.

Roger:

And there was one. It was called Wheel of Wonder. Did you do this one yet, mike? No, so you have these wheels and there's lava pit stripe going by lava flows And for the, so there's two lava flows. You have to figure out how to do both of them And there's a wheel, there's two wheels connected to like a platform And I use that. I use the wheel and there's, and then there's like this bridge, this like platform bridge thing. That's there And I use the wheel as a pillar and I attached it to the end of the platform and I extend the platform as far as I could And I ran and jumped off that platform and land on the other side. And then I realized, oh, those wheels can actually go in lava. I didn't need to do that.

Mike:

So that was cool, but it worked.

Roger:

That's what you know. It didn't matter, right, because that was my solution and that worked and that was cool. That's what I really love about that game. So, yeah, i've been playing more of that game. The other game I played I talked about this last week and I wrote my review and it's up on the page on GamerheadsPodcastcom And that is Farworld Pioneers. So this is the it's on Game Pass. I actually got a review code for it And it's a survival type game where you are crash land on a planet and you and the colonists have to build, basically, a place to live, to survive, and you can do so by having all these different like like work benches, like you'll have different kinds of work benches and stuff like that.

Roger:

And the game, like I talked about this last week, the game doesn't do a great job with the tutorial and stuff like that. They just say build a workbench. You did it, you built a workbench. Now build a chair. You did it, you built a chair. And it's like, well, okay, but what was the point of all that? But, anyway, so that way of a work bench in a chair, yeah, i guess, i guess, but like then they don't really there's no like skills, build on and like, okay, now you're going to learn about how to build like I don't know, like a smelting, and what would you do there? Like I don't know? I wish that there was more of like tutorial. But, that being said, whatever you can figure it out. And I figured it out And and I was actually getting really far with my colony, i was having fun with it, i was building my colony.

Roger:

I had a bunch of colonists join my colony from a, from other crashed ships And we are working together. We had like a bunch of different types of work benches built. We are, we are doing some discoveries. It was amazing. And then I was walking and my character fell through the ground, just fell through the ground, right through the ground, and quick, i'm stuck in. Oh no, it was a quick sand And I couldn't find my character.

Roger:

It was like black. It was just stuck in the ground And I was like, well, maybe I could dig myself out of this. And I was, I was able to dig myself out of it And I was like, okay, fine, whatever. And then I, you know, kept playing. And then later on I was walking another area. I went through the floor again And this time there was no digging out. I was stuck and I couldn't just quit. You had to save and quit. I lost everything. I lost everything. That's a bummer. So what I was hoping for that I saved it.

Roger:

I was like, maybe when I save it and I come back, they'll, like that, put me in the you know, in the void. Maybe I'll, like they'll be like, oh, the computer will like realize it's glitch and I'm glitch it Right, like that doesn't exist, like you shouldn't be there. Nope, i was still stuck. So now you live in a hole, living a hole, and that's where I'm going to die.

Mike:

Like Alison trains. Yeah, exactly, it was very annoying And I did not like it And I was.

Roger:

I'm going to tell you I have put in my review, but that was like That was a deal breaker for me, that like that's all the fun out of.

Roger:

Like I was struggling at first, then it became fun and I was having a lot of fun with it. And I was gonna ask both of you, because you play multiplayer, it's like maybe we should build a colony. Wouldn't that be fun if we played this together? and then that happened. I was like nope, i'm done. I spent so many hours building this colony and doing all this stuff and I had to start all over. No, thank you, i'm done. That sucks. Yeah, that was really frustrating. So that's that's up on the site.

Roger:

I gave it a. I think I gave it like a C minus or something and like because there are parts I really like about it. It's just That seems. Oh. Then the other I mean this is minor, but the other thing is like there'll be menus on top of menus, so like you come across something and you'll and you'll try to open a menu And then there's wording on top of other menu, wordings that just happen to pop up. It's minor, like I can read through that stuff. But is this like that should have been caught right? like I feel like that. It feels like that is easy, like oh, that That's a problem. You have wording on top of wording, but the falling through the ground, that's awful. So, yeah, that's what I've been playing. Um, let's move into the last segment, then the tails of the eShop segment speaking of frustrating games, Oh yeah.

Roger:

Yeah, uh, what was the game? mic, do you want to? you want to tell the game, because it's been like two weeks, uh, and I don't remember what the game is. I kind of remember because Phil was talking about in our chat, so, uh, i what was?

Mike:

the name of it again Like.

Phil:

Gangster life, something on the streets, crime syndicate version 10,000.

Mike:

All right, that's all I needed. Gangster life, criminal, untold cars, theft police I was almost there Yeah.

Mike:

Gangster life criminal, untold cars, theft, police Okay, gangster life is the number one game on how, on how to grow from a simple crook into a gangster who controls the whole city where you were born and where you will start doing your legal work. Explore a large, detailed city with realistic textures. Lots of crime missions will help you become the most powerful gangster in the area. Different guns, a lot of cool cars and an interesting gameplay. You will all find this in our product. Never give up and you will be who you want to be. Only you decide what kind of lifestyle you will have.

Roger:

That is life advice, right there, i just want to say that's true, yeah, functions.

Mike:

Different types of cars, big beautiful city, challenging missions with cities good reward city, city, city, city, yeah, big beautiful city, yep. Challenging missions with good rewards. Realistic graphics and physics Another type of weapon I love that another type of weapon?

Roger:

What was the other type of weapon? What was the?

Mike:

Are you was there more or was?

Roger:

that it. That was it. Okay, phil. What was the other? another type of weapon.

Phil:

I don't even have any fucking words for this goddamn game, phil, did you?

Roger:

did you be what was it was aligned? be what you want to be. No, i couldn't. I Live your best life. Were you living the best life as a gangster in the realistic textures, the realistic check, in a beautiful city?

Phil:

That depends on if you were playing on high quality, medium quality or low quality, because when you first open up the game, you were given a prompt in the settings menu that says tip increase performance and avoid crashes. Recommend to set the game to lower quality settings. So right out of the gates, the menu warns you that if you're playing this in too high it's gonna crash.

Roger:

Okay, okay. How much should you pay for this game again? I just wanted to remember how much should we pay for this game. It was like cheap right.

Phil:

I think I got it for like a buck 99 or something. Okay, i don't remember.

Roger:

Mike, do you know how much it is normally? I'm just curious.

Mike:

I think, it's normally five. Yeah, it's normally 499, but we got it for $1.99.

Phil:

Okay, okay, okay, um. so yeah, you can pick your quality of the resolution as well as your frames per second, with your options being 30, 60 or off limits. I don't even know what the hell that means um, so I.

Phil:

Managed to turn the game on and I'm playing it in dock mode because I'm an adult and I'm using my pro controller because, again, i'm an adult, because joy cons are made for little kids hands and adult hands can't Move that way, especially when you're 45 years old. You've worked in a kitchen for the last 20 years.

Roger:

Good, point Your fingers, just don't bend right.

Phil:

Like they don't, and so I'm attempting to get into the menu. I finally get through the menu and I go to play the game and first thing I'd ask you to do is collect your daily reward, which your first daily reward is to collect $50. So then I decided to go see if I could buy anything with my $50, because you've got your options of going to go buy new weapons Or new cars. So I went to go buy some new weapons, because I don't know what I'm gonna start with for a weapon, and I could buy a knife for $75. So I don't have enough money to buy a knife.

Phil:

Cool, so I press start to get into the game. And then the screen is sitting there and my character is standing there And I'm pressing every button on the pro controller That there is and I can't do anything like not a single thing. Nothing is moving. I, i can't move the camera, i can't move my character, i can't choose my weapon, i can't spawn the car, i can't select missions, i can't do a fucking thing. At which point it dawns on me, as mike also says to me Hey man, maybe you can't play this game with the pro controller.

Roger:

I know that was my. That was my favorite part in our in our group chat that we have Mike's like. Well, have you tried it with the joy cons?

Phil:

So at which point I remove the switch from the docking station, like I'm a six-year-old kid about to ride the bus to work Or to school. I'm sorry.

Roger:

I don't live in a child labor country yet.

Phil:

It's on its way there, but we're not quite there yet. And I begin to play it in handheld mode, where Everything hurts because again, this controller is cramped. So I jump into my car, which I enter my car by pressing up on the, what functions as a d-pad, uh-huh, and I start driving my car, and the car's driving physics are okay enough, but there's no radio stations or anything that I can seem to find, so all I hear is the.

Mike:

That is I'm gonna call itself. Oh, that's an amazing impression Of my four-door blue sedan that I was driving around.

Phil:

Yes, so I'm driving around and I've noticing that the the city is pretty sparsely populated, and by sparsely populated I mean there's one person per three city blocks. It's walking around.

Roger:

What's crime ridden? What do you expect? It's Detroit, yeah.

Mike:

I would like to apologize to our Detroit listeners.

Phil:

That's listener. It's singular man. Now I have one listener in every major metropolitan area, every three blocks.

Phil:

Yeah like no joke one. So I'm driving around and I'm like okay, whatever. So then I press the Whatever, the the equivalent of the select button on the nintendo controller or on the joycons is to bring up my missions, to see what I can do. Also, mind you, i had to reprogram my brain because I'm playing the switch for the a button and the x button, where all the buttons are kind of backwards you know, yeah, like how the b buttons on the bottom.

Phil:

So I'm pressing a to do anything in the menu, it doesn't do a fucking thing for me because I've got this entire thing mapped to the b button, so the controller is mapped like I'm using an actual controller and not a switch.

Mike:

Okay, whatever, i got used to it.

Phil:

So I pull up the missions and I go to do one of the easy level missions, which is go grab a car from such-and-such place, take it to such-and-such, take it to joe's chop shop or whatever, no problem, the map actually does a decent enough job of teaching me, or telling me where to go to go. Get the thing like the little GPS marker comes up, so I jump in the car and I start driving this new car around, which is a high end car. So as you're driving it, it doesn't go, it goes.

Mike:

What happens when you kick it in a second gear? There is no second gear.

Phil:

I haven't even gotten the best part about driving, so you can't brake and steer at the same time.

Mike:

Your four tires lock up and you just can't fucking turn.

Phil:

You have to kind of feather the brake in order to be able to turn.

Roger:

You can't hit the brake and turn at the same time, otherwise you just keep going straight.

Phil:

So I'm driving this new fancy car to Joe's Chop Shop to go get paid to complete my first easy mission.

Roger:

And I tap a light post at which point it says mission failed due to damage to the car And.

Phil:

I barely tapped it. I mean, I had the brakes hard locked.

Phil:

So I'm like in a dead ass skid going to this thing like at a whole two miles an hour. There's no body damage to the car, which I don't think was probably damaged the vehicles anyways in this game. And so missions failed. Whatever I bail out of the car Actually, it automatically kicks me out of the car. Mission failed. I go back and select the exact same mission. I'm like well, this seems easy. I'm just going to drive like a 65 year old one person And I'm going to get to the location in one piece. I jump into the car. Back at the spawn shop, i jump in the car, don't touch anything. Mission failed. There's damage to your car? All right, fuck you Mission, i'm doing a different mission now, because it retained the damage from.

Roger:

Yes, even though my wrecked car is 20 city blocks away.

Phil:

I get into the new one And for some reason the damage on the old car is still maintaining to the new car, or whatever. So I'm like okay, cool.

Phil:

I'm going to do another mission. This one is I got to go to my hookup who's going to give me some cigarettes? And I got to find three different people to sell cigarettes to. Cool, no problem. Hop in my blue sedan again, pull up some dude wearing a face mask, looking like he's just got out of prison And like Nintendo 64 graphics. And I go up to him and I in, click my right, my right analog stick to talk to him And he's like yo, dude, here's your smokes. So I take my smokes to him and he's like and it's like now you got to go find three people to sell smokes to. Let's again talk about how densely populated this fucking city is.

Phil:

So there's two people that are immediately in front of me. I get pretty stoked. I'm like, oh man, these people definitely buy my cigarettes. They don't look like they can afford their own cigarettes. This one's in a business suit and that one's in like a prom dress. And I go up to them and I in click the right thumb stick to talk to the first guy. He's like no, go away.

Phil:

I'm like, okay, maybe the chick wants a cigarette because she looks like she might be a working gal, and working gal is like to smoke cigarettes. That's why I'm a smoker, is because I'm a working gal, so I go up to her. She's the second spawn person that's in this radius, which I was stoked. There were two people that I could see go up and she's like no, go away Cool.

Phil:

So I jump back into my blue sedan again, drive my three city blocks to see one single person walking down the road. Again, it's a female dress, like the same female, because there's probably six different character models in a higher game. Jump out and I'm like, hey, you want to buy some smokes. And she's like no, go away, cool, get back in my sedan again, insert sound effect, end up driving I'm not kidding Another 10 blocks before I see a singular other person Jump out of the car. This person's in like a sweatsuit or whatever.

Roger:

Offer them smokes. Here we go, here we go.

Phil:

And they're like sure I'll take a cigarette.

Roger:

I'm like cool.

Phil:

This guy wants to buy my cigarette. I get no cash for the cigarette, but I get rid of the cigarette What? And I debate driving away to go try to find two other people to go sell my smokes to, And I was like you know what I'm going to do.

Mike:

I'm going to try to sell two more cigarettes to the same person because they look like a sucker.

Phil:

So I go up to them and I click in the right thumb stick twice and boom, boom, they bought the other two cigarettes from me. Mission accomplished, but didn't give you any money, though I gave me money after doing the mission, oh, ok, ok, gave me like $25 for selling three cigarettes. Wow.

Roger:

And are we talking about like just regular cigarettes? Yeah, we're talking about filtered like like Malbrose Camels, whatever, like these, aren't even these aren't even special cigarettes.

Phil:

Wow, these are normal cigarettes because again, these people can't afford to go buy that $10 pack of smoke.

Roger:

And I mean that would cry, must be so like, yeah, not existent. if that's what the law is in, that It's. you know yours can't be choosers Like I at least could have been selling them to 16 year olds not the old-s, adults. That's true. That's true, but it's adults.

Phil:

Yeah, so then I go and I open up the missions again to see what missions I can do, and I'm like, all right, you know what I'm going to do. I'm going to go try to deliver that car again, because it's about that time. Maybe it's forgotten that I wrecked the first car Wink, wink, wrecked. Go back to get in the car again. Mission failed, all right, what other easy mission can I do? because I still have no weapons. I still have no nothing. The only other mission that I've got available to me that's easy is selling cigarettes, at which point I proudly proclaimed you know what? I'm not playing the stupid game in handheld mode any longer. I'm not playing the stupid game in dock mode any longer. I am turning off my switch and I'll turn it back on sometime next week when I got to talk about another wonderful game from the eShop.

Roger:

Yeah, was the city beautiful, though, at least?

Phil:

I mean when I had it on high definition, the city didn't look bad. When it was on low def, in mid-grade def, it kind of just looked like somebody had smeared Vaseline all over the camera that was shooting the game Okay.

Roger:

Okay, yeah, would you say, this is this rank. I mean, obviously this ranks as one of the worst games we've made you play. Would you say it's the worst or is, like I exercised, still the worst game you've ever played?

Mike:

Well, that's what that's, And actually that was, if you don't mind me interrupting. That's why should we have a segment about that?

Roger:

We should, we should.

Mike:

The Phil's mid-year worst mid-years. Because we're halfway done with the year.

Phil:

We are, yeah, do you guys just trying to get me PTSD?

Roger:

Next week. Can we pick your mind and figure out which ones are the worst ones you've played so far?

Phil:

Yeah, i don't think that You have a notebook full of this stuff. You could also go into your notebook My notebook's not as full as it used to be, but I can always go back in my past purchases on the eShop.

Mike:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, i can do that too.

Phil:

Yeah, Yeah, I could talk about the. yeah, yeah, I could do that.

Mike:

I could do like a Letterman top 10 type thing.

Roger:

Yeah, that's right. Okay, Mike, what?

Mike:

do we got this week? Well, first I'm going to apologize. I'm sorry. Phil, i don't mean to cause you this much stress and anxiety. I didn't do it.

Phil:

I did this to myself, you got to remember. You've got the nice cop out these days where you present me with two games and I decide if I want to take the first game or not. I hear that it's a GTA style game. It looks like GTA. It can't possibly be that bad. Well, it turns out it can be that bad and it can even be worse than that bad. And it can be. It can be aneurysm inducing and controller throwing.

Roger:

Yeah, Wait, Mike, before you read, I have a little. are you ready to read your first game or no?

Mike:

I've got them both ready.

Roger:

Hold on, hold on Ready, okay, oh OK, go ahead.

Phil:

That's all right When you are not a play the drums, I know.

Mike:

Roger, if you're going to do that at least, at least if you're going to use that sound effect, at least do the one that's a rim shot like this, that's Yeah, because that's going to be more along the lines of the games I'm.

Phil:

The hell just happened. We just devolved into a morning show. I got to start drinking more.

Mike:

Do the turn to the rim shot.

Roger:

Oh, do you want? Oh yeah, oh sorry.

Mike:

Just made a joke right here.

Roger:

Right, you did, there we go, all of my shitty jokes.

Phil:

Otherwise, people are just going to have to download a drum track when they listen to this All right, mike go ahead.

Mike:

All right. So I'm going to just let you know, Phil, we are sticking with the criminal categories for for this week.

Phil:

So criminal these companies released this game.

Roger:

Oh, my God.

Mike:

You got to be on point with these things I need a producer.

Phil:

I need a producer.

Roger:

I can't afford a producer.

Phil:

We can do rim shots. That means I get the music and I can say my music.

Roger:

Actually, you know what, if you feel, if you do, if you give me some music, i will add it to this. So when you say hit my music, i will play it. I'm not kidding, i will do that for you, all right.

Phil:

Now I got to find some kind of a song that we don't have to pay money for.

Roger:

Yeah, exactly There's. There's a lot of royalty free sites out there. Go find, go find a song and I'll play it for you. All right, go ahead, go ahead.

Mike:

OK, so your first game is on the eShop and it's on sale for $1.99. Sale ends July 13th And here's the description. Become the thief. Steal in free Rome sandbox neighborhoods. Observe your target and gather information that will help you with the burglary. Take the challenge and rob the best secured houses. Buy some high tech burglar equipment and learn new thief tricks. Sell stolen goods to the passers.

Roger:

Wow, like cigarettes.

Mike:

Yeah.

Roger:

If that's what you want to take.

Mike:

Do anything that a real thief does. A good thief always observes his target. Find out when the house is empty and does it have nosy neighbors. Choose from lots of possible approaches to prepare the best plan. Many modern devices available in this game might come in handy when gathering intel about your target and its neighborhood. Find and steal as many valuables as possible in the shortest time possible. Infinite backpacks Backpacks don't exist. In every house you'll find tons of useless stuff.

Roger:

Oh if you're not sure, i guess.

Mike:

Yeah, if you're not sure that you can take some serious money for it, maybe a good idea would be to leave it behind. This is like the entire instruction manual in the description. Maybe a good idea would be to leave it behind and save space for some expensive goods. There we go. Worthless items will waste your time. Be careful, because some things can draw police attention to you. Oh a real, experienced thief can spot places where there's most probability of finding some valuables on the fly. That's it.

Roger:

Is that, it, is that it? Oh, there's more.

Mike:

I was just thinking of a different meaning for the word fly. Use the flashlight at night to highlight all the valuables in site and places where you can expect them to be. Disassemble a stolen car and sell parts on the Internet. I just like how I want to see that happen. Prepare phones and tablets before selling them in a pawn shop by removing their security. Wow, you have like mini games to do that, i wonder. I look around for any useful items. They will save you some time on lock picking or hacking. These things can make life of an aspiring thief so much easier and reduce your burglary time even by a half. Of course, many of them are just useless. What is with this game and like calling out how terrible some of the items are?

Phil:

You don't try to get all of us to downsize. It's like you guys got a bunch of worthless shit in your house, difficult to break it and figure out what I should steal or not.

Roger:

It's like subluminal messages like, hey, we want to break into your house, but get rid of all your shit that we don't want to.

Mike:

Of course, many of them are just useless trash, or maybe they aren't.

Roger:

Ooh, maybe he aren't.

Mike:

Be careful. In some houses you can meet unexpected guests. If they catch you in the act, they will call the police. In this case, hide and wait until they stop looking for you, or you can always leave the loot and run away as fast as possible.

Roger:

Here's a question When do we catch them in the act? That's my question.

Mike:

Hey-oh.

Roger:

Oh.

Mike:

This game is called Thief Simulator.

Roger:

Oh, thief Simulator. Never heard of it, but that looks, that sounds cool.

Mike:

It looks. If you want some more ideas, it kind of it's it looks like Car Wash Simulator. In terms of that first person roaming around and stuff, but you're not power washing, you're stealing apparently useless stuff.

Phil:

If I remember correctly, this game is a little bit older and I looked into it at one point back when we were still doing the Nindy Focus.

Roger:

Yeah.

Phil:

And I looked into some reviews and it's broken as hell. I am taking a hard pass on this game.

Roger:

Okay, okay.

Mike:

Well, phil, i think you probably made a good choice, because the other game that I picked is currently on sale for 3.99 on the eShop, but for the next four days, and four days only, it's also on sale for 3.99 on the Xbox store.

Phil:

Sold. I could use an adult controller.

Mike:

This game tells the story of Vinnie cannoli and his mob family, set in the fictional Thug Town Circa 1925, at the height of prohibition. Mike:

Mike:

Roger:

How much is it on a switch? I'm sorry, how much did you say?

Mike:

399 on the switch 399 on the Xbox Also from what I've read in the reviews, the game is not bad, but it's a little difficult. But there's couch co-op which makes it a lot easier.

Roger:

Oh fun.

Mike:

Roger, I will also call out that I purchased this game today as well.

Phil:

Oh, you did. Oh good If you wanted to try it out. Thank you. Now you're even good Diablo.

Mike:

Yeah, that's right, we're even for Diablo.

Roger:

That's right. This is really cool because this is one of the games that I looked into when we did the Nindy Focus show as well. I was like, oh, this looks like a cool game. We never played it. But we didn't right. We never played that game before.

Phil:

I've heard some things about it from people that have played it, though.

Mike:

I'm pretty stoked for this Good choice, phil, good choice.

Phil:

Yeah.

Roger:

Well finally, we get back to a good game.

Mike:

Yeah, but you know what that means for next week.

Roger:

I got to even things out of that.

Phil:

There's no evening after the gangster life cars, thugs, streets, smokes. Yeah, there's no evening after that.

Roger:

Yeah.

Phil:

That's a pretty deep valley. I did take game clips, though, that I meant to upload to Twitter, because I threw. I punched some people because I just wanted to see what would happen if you punched people.

Roger:

In real life or in the game.

Phil:

It's in the game. Okay, and then real life. The physics are pretty broken, and so that's why I had to record it, and if I remember, next to my turn on the switch, i'll upload them. Okay, very cool.

Roger:

I'm excited to hear about that game next week Before we head out. then why don't we tell people how they can get ahold of us? And, Mike, how can people find you on the social media?

Mike:

You can find me over at PezGuyMike.
